    Have faith, will succeed!

    • Written by from Hampton

I went to Apple Store a few times to try out the trackpad but still couldn't get use of it. A few weeks later, I decided to take the plunge, and bought one for myself as X'mas present. Best decision ever.

Took it home with me and took less than a minute to setup and 5 minutes to master it. A very clever design. Easy to use, especially for web surfing. It was a doodle.

Remember to keep your USB mouse with you though. A few days ago, I needed to boot my iMac from Installation CD, it started looking for my USB mouse.

Buy it if you have the money to spare and currently running on Snow Leopard.

    Excellent device!

I bought this at the opening of the Covent Garden shop and I love using it. I can still use the Mighty Mouse that I have, but this is very versatile and a delight to use. Also, there is no wire to constrain my cursor movement (sometimes happened with the mouse) and there is no mechanical wheel that needs cleaning.

    surprised

I got to say after you get past the terrible setting up stage and putting it to your own settings.

Then yes it is a whole lot better than the mouse!!! also unlike the mouse don't get soar wrist which is a bonus and overall it works great. Mastering the speed and settings is probably the biggest hurdles but like everyone else I can see why this could make the mouse history and if the other computer systems are going to copy it in some way.

For it raises the game and makes surfing a lot easier!

I purchased the Magic Trackpad with my new iMac and have found that I use it more than the Magic Mouse as it is so simple and convenient to use - an excellent product.

Have been using it since the first week of release and it has been a dream. I still keep my magic mouse for photo editing purposes but for general use on the mac it is so easy to use.

    Outstanding

    • Written by from Wirral

Bought this as a birthday present to myself - at £59 it isn't cheap, but quality products never really are, are they?

I cannot believe how cool this little gadget is. It worked straight out of the box, recognised in seconds by my MacBook Pro and it is absolutely the best way to navigate around on my Mac. Sure, my built in trackpad does the the same thing, but my Magic Trackpad can be positioned anywhere I want, and it is so comfy!

My advice - get one. Get one today.

    Trackpad hurts

    • Written by from Margate

Magic Trackpad looks amazing and feels nice to touch BUT after just one day's use, my wrist really started to hurt and felt tired. The gestures needed to make the trackpad work left me with a sore wrist so I will be returning to using a mouse for sure.

Mactastic fun for half a ton.

    • Written by from London

When I first linked up the Trackpad I was a bit disappointed. I didn't seem to do anything clever and the Magic Mouse had become such a friend. But then I checked the videos built into the system preferences. This thing gives your whole hand-full-of-fingers something to do. Twist and stretch are old tricks but the three and four finger functions are brilliant. Go buy one.

Won't be ditching my Magic Mouse just yet.

    • Written by from shaftesbury

I really like this new bit of kit, It feel really natural to use and is perfect for using in bed. Its really easy to install and setup although a few more options would be nice, for example the four finger up gesture to display the desktop would be much better if I could use it to activate spaces.

It had taken me no time at all to get use to having it on my desk, With out thinking about it my hand moves from keyboard to mouse to trackpad using it to switch apps or navigate in Safari and the using it to zoom is just perfect.

Trying it to rotate some photos in Preview didn't feel right, the gesture just felt wrong and it needed to be exaggerated to work.

All in all a really cool thing!

    Difficult to master

    • Written by from Balsall common

Looks good and complements the general apple style, but the track pad is extremely difficult to master and (almost) useless if you want to use drawing/design programmes where the familiar feel and function of a mouse is far far better. So if all you want to do is simple word type documents and flick through iTunes, then OK. For anything else stick with a traditional mouse.

    Bit disappointed

    • Written by from Falmouth

I had high hopes for this but trackpad as i'm v happy with the the one built into my MBP but unfortunately the desktop version doesn't perform as well. I've had it several weeks now and I still keep inadvertently inputing gestures I didn't intend and I find it quite uncomfortable to use because of the angle it sits at. To alleviate mild wrist aches I now have the front edge propped up on a notepad to make it level and rest my forearm on a book so that my hand falls naturally level with the trackpad. This works and makes everything more comfortable but it's hardly the minimalist ergonomic marvel I'd like. My advice is --- Have a good try of one of these in a store before you buy.

    Brilliant

    • Written by from LONDON

Perhaps the easiest and most comfortable thing for using the comp.
I really don't like working with computer mouses, as you have to move the device, I loved some of the trackballs, but it is difficult to find the one, which accommodates the hand the right way.
This feels totally natural, amazingly fast and actually very precise.
Not mentioning the joy of the touch - the material finish is amazing.
Connects with iMac perfect way, easy to set up.
    My best recommendation!

Good but maybe not better than a mouse overall

    • Written by from biggar

I have had this track pad for 3 months now and to be honest there are a lot of benefits in comfort but i find that i cannot do everything effectively. I find that using while using illustrator is pointless and i need to go back to my mouse. Good for general browsing and simple uses but not ideal if accuracy is your aim. It is beautifully made and designed and i am sure that most will enjoy the experience.

This trackpad is much better than Windows laptop trackpads. If you're used to laptop trackpads, you should try this. It's much better. The trackpads on the MacBooks are just like it.

    great product when it works

    • Written by from Slough

I recently bought this to replace my magic mouse (which i never had problems with) and its a fantastic product except for one thing, the erratic behaviour. now its not 100% of the time but at least a few times a day. The discussion boards are filled with people having problems with this device. dont get me wrong, when it does work, its great, but then it flakes.

I think for the cost premium of Apples products, they need to pay a bit more attention to bluetooth implementation and customer needs in general and not soo much focus on the shiny toys. this ones going back for sure.

    Waiting to be disscovered

    • Written by from EDINBURGH

This is a great bit of kit when you eventually get to use it. The Trackpad works fine with no problems on my Mac Pro but it's a different story on my iMac. If I have to reboot my iMac then it takes at least 10-15 mins, switching the pad on and off and using a mouse to fiddle with settings etc. to reconnecet. I love using the pad but please apple sort out the awful connectivity issues.

PS. a battery charge indicator as my wireless Keybord and Mouse would be nice also.

Magic Track Pad is indeed that

    • Written by from Mitcham

The Magic track pad is indeed Magic I use it with my Macbook pro unibody snow leopard. It gives you a new way to interact with Osx. It has the same gestures as the glass trackpad but the larger surface area is even more ideal, especially if you have big hands. Using my Macbook pro plugged into my HD TV with the Magic trackpad is so easy it gives more control from afar when sitting on the sofa. I have used it when editing in imovie gives more precise control than the magic mouse. The click buttons are built into the bottom front edges so works the same as the glass track pad. Perfect together with the Apple wireless keyboard. I also have a magic mouse and the trackpad is better when using gesture controls.
