Impossibly reflective screen, no use whatsoever. Not bad if you are a boxer; you'll be bobbing and weaving all day trying to avoid the reflections as you work.
what were they thinking? (one star too many)

If you're one of those people who can't stop looking at yourself in the mirror. Then this is the monitor for you!

Apple probably call 'Cinema', because it requires cinema conditions to view it properly.

There are issues about this particular model - Very hot at the top Aluminium- Flickering Screen - Black Streaks - Grey Streaks. I have had my Screen replaced 3 times and it`s still ongoing. I have noticed that there are a new set of models now. I wonder why

I got this monitor with a Macbook Pro thinking it'd be great like the 30" monitor Apple still sells. This one is just horrible. Many things:

    1. The gloss is really bad, you just can't use it for reading, development etc. Only good for movies.

    2. There is NO 'switch OFF' button!!!!!!!!!! I can't stress on this enough: WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO US APPLE!! I at times want to turn the monitor OFF at times without plugging the cable in and out each time, which is a horrible work around since all windows run around wild on the screen and gather to a single screen from all over the place. The monitor just cannot be turned off from anywhere. I really though this wasn't possible so I went to the Apple Store and spoke to a 'Genius' who basically had similar thoughts and said he didn't understand why Apple did this. You can't turn it off no matter what you do. You can't even dim it seperately. I like to turn the other monitor off at night when mrs is sleeping but this bright thing just can't be turned off.

    3. The monitor turns EXTREMELY HOT. So much hotter than the 30inch model which I still use every day. You could really slow cook a meal on this thing. Turns a nice cool room into a furnace pretty soon especially if there aren't too many windows.

    4. Again, you can't turn the darn thing off!

The glossy screen is only good for watching movies and viewing pictures in bright colourful detail. It is no good for professional work where you need the screen to display brightness and saturation as close to the printed item as possible. We have also had to rearrange the desks so that no one is sitting with a window behind them due to the glare.

As for the cable length! How close do you think we're going to put our G5 to the monitor!!? I would defintely opt for a bigger, cheaper alternative with a matte display.

Like so many others who use this as a professional tool, this is not even worth considering. I recently saw a friends 27' display and honestly couldn't see what I was doing. The room was darkened and I still had to move my head around to view areas of the screen. In my 20 design business I have never come across any professional that uses glossy screens to do their work. If Apple continue to have this stubborn marketing strategy then they will slowly see a large proportion of their market disappear - I for one will NEVER buy a glossy screen. What would it take to give us designers a paying option to upgrade to a professional matt screen ????
