    Disappointing

Great functionality and design, as you'd expect from Apple.
    But:
    1) Eats batteries
    2) Constantly drops connection
    3) Random sensitivity

Apple Magic Mouse - Best Mouse I've ever Owned

I've read most of the reviews on here and i think they've mostly been quite harsh on this item. moving from the trackpad ( counter intuitive i know) to this i found it incredibly easy to get used to and within minutes i'm using it as if i had for years.

This mouse gives you drop down menus whether you want them or not, no matter what way you set the preferences up. I'm surprised more people are not complaining about this frustrating little piece of plastic voodoo.

I have had this mouse since Christmas 2010 and I have decided to do a review. (I have the Macbook White Unibody 2010). The bluetooth is an excellent feature as it saves having loads of wires or a dongle. The batteries in it last very long. The multi touch gestures work fantastic along with OS X Lion and OS X Snow Leopard. Would definitely recommend it to a friend. The white matches my Mac and Universal dock and iWires mini display port to HDMI adapter. Might even be getting the Wireless keyboard soon. Excellent mouse - best I have ever used.

Stopped working on all surfaces after 9 months

This mouse came with my new Mac (which is fantastic). After 10 months of trouble free use, the mouse stopped working on a mouse mat, but would still work on a desk surface (not a huge problem but annoying). Then two months later it stopped working on the desk surface and only worked on a shiny surface. Now it works on nothing and is out of warranty despite initially being faulty within the timeframe. Given the expense of replacing it when it goes wrong, i would avoid this product.

    This is a fantastic mouse.
    But..
This is a mouse for surfing on the Internet and checking mail and things like that.
If you are gaming or having many applications running, i would prefer the Touch Pad or a Gaming mouse.
I think, if you are a normal person, who checks Facebook, Twitter, mail and all those things maybe doing some Photoshop or other media things then its a fantastic mouse.

Worst apple product I've ever bought! Disconnects ... all the time!! Grrrrr!!! When it works (Not very often) it really is an amazing mouse - Easy to use, accurate, intuitive, looks amazing etc. But for £1 shy of £60 it's a rip off for a bit of hardware that clearly has a design flaw somewhere. If I could give less than 1 star I would. An expensive but good looking paperweight.

    I love it!!!
    The multi-touch features works perfect!
    IT IS NOT HEAVY!!!
It is not a gamer mouse
And Apple should make a more round multi-touch mouse!
Two more things: Apple rules, Windows is a fail. And those people who are wondering if they should buy it, i'll say do it right now!!!

    Not so 'Magical' mouse.

    Ok….

The mouse is a great and aesthetically pleasing design, there is no question. However the function is a very big issue for me personally.

    1. It feels heavy and drags slowly over whatever surface you use it on.
    2. The speed of the pointer is even slower in proportion when you consider it takes 2 ‘drags’ to get from the left to the right of my 27” screen. If you span 2 monitors like me then it is a real struggle.
    3. The gesture scroll is not as accurate as a scroll wheel either.
    4. And lastly but not a deal breaker, it is still only one button clicking. I rarely use Windows on my Mac other than for testing, but still many Mac / web applications support 2 buttons. Even the guys over at Betamax gave up at some point…

I just received my built to order Mac and regret not specifying a track pad instead when I had the chance, as I am currently using a HP WIFI mouse instead at less than half the cost. Ok design too….., but works as it should.

Get a trackpad instead (you will need one soon because), 'Lion is a coming..........'

well the touch contoroles work perfect never miss a beat but i think that they consume to much pwer and the batteys run out fast. The magic mouse looks fab but unfortunetly i does not feel as good as it looks with prolonged use your hand will start to ache but if you are only doing light editing and web browsing then it will be fine for u i do think tho for £59 it is expensive but in my opinion it is the most functional mouse in the world

More than 1 years use and I love using it for 3D.

It took a long while to get completely used to this mouse (but then its very different) but I wouldn't trade it without a fight.
I installed magic prefs about a month after getting the mouse and it really opens up the potential of its touch sensitive shell. I did have some issues with autocad pc via parallels with inertial scrolling. This is why I gave 4/5, but that was probably a windows driver issue and not the fault of the mac software.

Yes you do need to replace the batteries (sometimes at inconvenient times) but I can live with that and just keep some on charge, no problem.

Only get it if you are willing to try something new. If you just don't like new things you won't like this.

I was sceptical about buying one of these at first as I read a lot of reviews complaining about battery life. However, after buying the magic mouse with an apple battery charger, i'm not sure I needed the charger after all! I've had the mouse for over a week now and the battery level is still on 100% so i'm assuming it's going to last a fair while. I think the trick might be to switch the mouse after after use (although there's been many nights where i've forgotten to do this). Anyway, I will update my review when the batteries do run out and we'll see how long they last... Also, I've had no problems with comfort at all and have really enjoyed using it. My hands are pretty big too so I don't think big hands will necessarily be a problem with everyone!

    Clever, but not too precise

Of course I like the swipe gestures, but the right-click functionality is just ache-inducing after a while, and the flow of the cursor just doesn't have the precision of my Logitech mouse. Shame, coz it's aesthetically wonderful. Just functionally incomplete. I've packed mine away.

I was worried that this product had less functionality than my mighty mouse and only bought it after the mighty mouse ball eventually stuffed up and could not be fixed anymore. I almost wish it had happened sooner. Download "MagicPrefs" and you can have all the functionality you could ever need in one mouse. For now I have added Expose and Spotlight functionality back into my mouse functions and still have plenty of options that I can use for other actions. If you also run a trackpad the program can also add extra functionality here too.

This is a fantastic mouse for general tasks such as surfing the web, organising my mac and browsing through photos, as well as using Photoshop. The only downer is not having a middle button which means I have to use another mouse when using CAD programmes such as Alias and Sketchup. It's not really a problem as my backup is very small and can be carried easily. But other than that I'm really pleased with it. Even after 4 months the batteries it came with don't seem to be draining very much! A must buy for anyone in need of a mouse without a middle button! Well done Apple... keep up the good work! :D

    Not very good if editing

If you're going to be keyframing while editing, it's extremely irritating. You may accidentally go to the next frame if you finger slips ever so slightly. Can be really irritating if you're concentrating on something. There doesn't appear to be a way to stop this in Final Cut.

The design is also very unergonomic. It gives you slight hand cramps and it's too small for my hand. Maybe it would fit a females hand, but it doesn't fit my hand.

Please do not get it if you're planning on keyframing. I recommend the wired Mighty Mouse. You won't have the frame issues and it's wired, meaning no replacement of batteries necessary. The only problem I see with the Mighty Mouse is the wire making the desk a bit cluttered.

Apart from editing, it's rather nice. Scrolling is good and feels more natural. It's just accidental skipping of frames that's ever so annoying.
