This mouse looks absolutely stunning and is great for internet browsing with its scroll and other gestures.

I have had real trouble trying to find a good replacement for it that looks even half as good.

Reason i am replacing is because for doing anything that needs precision, the tracking is awful. I am a keen video producer and for editing i can not stand using it. And the ergonomics of the mouse.. Absolutely awful, my wrist drags along my desk and my palm can not rest on it because of its very low profile size.

So for very general and basic use, its nice. But for anything else, i can not recommend.

I'm aware that some people are disappointed by the Magic Mouse, but it suits me perfectly. I spend my day at my Mac, normally using a Logitech wireless multibutton mouse. Some months ago I started to get a worrying numbness in the tip of my left-button clicking finger, and switched to a Logitech trackball. I have also experimented with a Wacom Bamboo trackpad device. Both have their merits, but neither seems as intuitive and easy to use as a mouse. I do like the way scrolling works on a trackpad, and this is one of the reasons I splashed out on a MM.

The Magic Mouse is much flatter than most mice, which annoys some users. I really like it. It allows me to keep my fingers lying along the surface of the mouse and perform clicks by pressing the whole index finger, thus avoiding pressure on the tip. As other users have reported, the right-click works flawlessly too, despite the fact that there is no separate right button - you just press on the right side of the mouse.

I use my mice directly on a laminated desk surface, and the Magic Mouse works perfectly on this. It slides easily, but doesn't move when I use the scrolling gesture on the top surface.

Obviously looks wise this is stunning! People have been complaining that there is no Expose button but I have a normal logitech mouse at the minute and find setting up "hot corners" in system preferences to be good for me!
Been playing with this at the apple store... been advised that its not available separately till November from the shop (so next week).
I found navigating back and forward in Safari difficult until i separated my middle and index fingers slightly and then it was lovely to use...really responsive (unlike the back and forward buttons on my logitech) and not at all uncomfortable! Scrolling is also unbelievably smooth (unless you have sweaty or clammy fingers).

i have had the magic mouse for 3months now and when it reaches 50% it starts to disconnect and takes a couple of minutes to connect back that is all i a have to say

Has Apple totally lost sight of it's roots? What was the Mac originally conceived for? Answer, design!

Used in a design environment, trying using in Illustrator, Quark, InDesign, you won't be able to as the touch sensitivity that sits along the top of the mouse will render any detailed use of the curser pretty much impossible. Line up your curser to do that intricate piece of editing, slowly now, just nudge that node... Ooops the page has just shot away from from you!

APPLE! WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE SO OVER ENGINEERED IN A CONSTANT QUEST TO TRY AND LAUNCH SOMETHING NEW?

DON'T BUY THIS MOUSE ITS HOPELESS - YOU ARE WARNED!

To make full use of the magic mouse, you have to download 3rd party app "Magic Prefs". Once you can make use of all the gestures, taps and swipes, this mouse becomes the most natural way of interacting with OS X.

I use this mouse with logic pro 9, as well as all the usual suspects, and I find it accurate, the scrolling is extremely useful and long hours at the computer seem comfortable on the wrists.

As for the Battery life... I've been using the mouse for a week now, and it's still on 100%... would have to use it for longer to be sure of the overall battery life.

The only negative I can think of is the price, there are so many cheaper mice on the market, £50+ seems a lot, but it is the best mouse I've ever used.

The mouse its self is brilliant does everything and more its just how often you have to change the batteries !! I use my imac everyday and the batteries are lasting 2 weeks. But a brill mouse !! cheers apple

I have been using mac's since they first landed! Throughout all progressions, the simple one touch mouse has been an icon and easy to use… but then came the 'mighty mouse! terrible, over complicated and pandering to the PC cross overs.

I even went as far as buying a couple of spare white single button mice in case mine ever gave up the ghost as there was no way I could get on with the 'mighty mouse'.

So when I got my new iMac I was ready to sell the new and untested magic mouse on eBay and plug in my nice cosy old USB baby.

However, I gave it a try and was very, very pleasantly surprised, it was great, enough functions without going OTT and with the feel of the old single touch mouse! Brilliant!

The scroll function is perfect and natural, (just hated that micro ball on the mighty mouse!).

The Magic Mouse really is excellent!

Good size and shape and battery length is ok, but I have rechargeable AA's standing by.

Getting another for work and selling my single button collectables instead.

I was astonished when this mouse came out, I love my iPhone and using the technology in a mouse just seemed amazing, especially since my Mighty Mouse rollerball keeps sticking.

And it is GREAT! The beautiful design, the sleek finish, the right click and scrolling feature work a dream and no moving parts mean there's no breakdown from dust or sweat.

One problem, there's no expose option, only a navigation swipe that I never use. The guys at Apple suggest HotCorners but that's no good. Why Apple have created a superior product with endless possibilities without creating the software made to reap from them I don't know.

BUT!!! I FOUND A GREAT AND FREE PROGRAM CALLED MagicPrefs ONLINE (JUST GOOGLE IT) AND IT'S AMAZING 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO FULLY INTEGRATE THE MOUSE WITH EXPOSE AND OTHER NEAT TRICKS. WITH 2 FINGER, 3 FINGER AND 4 FINGER SWIPES GOING UP OR DOWN.

So basically it's an amazing mouse with only one hiccup which is easily solved by MagicPrefs, great!!!

Ok i am going to start with the positives, How Beautiful does this look on a wooden desk? Attractive and functional, easy to use, basic functions work with windows and it is a dream to use, It's a nice size for almost any hand and is weighty enough to stay still on the desk when using the 'two finger swipe' gesture.
Unfortunately build quality is poor, the lower metal casing extrudes beyond the upper plastic multitouch surface making it feel cheap and underdeveloped, also no Bootcamp support. Finally as mentioned by previous reviewers, there is no shortcuts like the squeeze or click the scroll ball to open dashboard or application switcher.
I Suggest wait two or three months for the manufacturing cycle to refresh and maybe they will have fixed the tiny annoyances to make it truly 'magic'
