    How about a cabled version?

    • Written by from Brobyværk

It uses batteries way too fast.
And now it doesn't even work after only 4 months of use.
Multi scroll and multi finger functions are precise. I just wish I could get a cabled version. I don't feel a short cable connected to my cabled keyboard is too much clutter.
It makes a lighter mouse, with out the hassle of battery changes.

    LOVE IT!

    • Written by from Woking

I have recently just switched to Mac, and bought myself a MacBook Pro 13", which i have to say i absolutely love. And i wanted to get myself a mouse, so as there are only 2, and i wanted a wireless one, i chose this one. And let me say, this is the best mouse i have every owned, so sleek and elegant looking, and they way its designed is so clever, with the touchscreen, and all the gestures with it, this is not just a mouse!
Also i have to mention how quick it is to set up, it took me roughly around 10 seconds for me to open up settings to me connecting it, and i was up and running, no CD's to put in, nothing complicated, just turn it on, go into settings, and connect!
    10/10 must buy!

I love this mouse and would never use another! Works really smoothly. Only downside is it burns through batteries pretty quickly

    • Written by from Frederiksberg

Apple normally works nicely, but I never had a worse mouse :-( I connects easy to my Macbook air, but lackes and the scrool works only sometimes... Sent if for repair and go a new... SAME S... - so, an overprices mouse that also is unusable due to the lacking, at least for me :(

    Style over Ergonomics

    • Written by from CLOGHER

I have this mouse for 6 months now. It works very well with regards to the Bluetooth staying connected, tracking on surfaces, and responsiveness.

It's let down by the physical design, which looks great, but ends up tiring out your hand. The mouse is too flat, the design also doesn't lend to resting your hand on it, otherwise you set off a click. It's possible to straddle the mouse, with your thumb, ring and little fingers resting on the desk, but that still gets tiring.

I usually end up switching to the trackpad on my MBP every so often when I can get away with just using gestures, as that exercises my hand and reduces the strain built up using the mouse.

    Well worth it

    • Written by from Durham

After long last I got a magic mouse today. It took a couple of minutes to connect to the mac and then that was it. As it has a completely different feel and shape to conventional mice it did take a while to get use to it in general. I found that i needed to increase the tracking speed to fast, but this might be for the speed I'm used too. The fact that it also recognise some finger gestures is excellent!

Definitely a must have for any mac user, it makes an already wonderful computer experience that bit better.

If you still prefer to click!

    • Written by from Bournemouth

Despite some of the bad reviews, I went ahead and bought the magic mouse on the basis that I still prefer to hold, move and click something solid!

I guess if you're used to the trackpads of laptops then the trackpad will be more suitable, but if like me you love to click then this is an awesome product.

It feels real nice to hold (it's not designed to hug to your palm as your palm sits in a curved state naturally, instead just the tips of your fingers and the base of your palm rest on it's super smooth surface)

The gestures are valuable in Lion, I'm still quite new to the mac so still learning little tricks but since getting the magic mouse i've used functions not used before because they become so simple! (i'm guessing the same for trackpad on this one too)

The laser and bluetooth combination too make for seamless function. easy to set up and no jerkiness in the cursor movement unlike my previous mouse that used a USB dongle to connect kept sticking and freezing.

Conclusion, an essential apple product (unless you like to point the cursor with your finger, then get the trackpad), worth every penny in comparison to previous models.

    very good for a mouse

    • Written by from Essex

I've just got this mouse with my new Mac Pro and to my surprise it's not to shabby.
The usual type up set up for a Mac. It was so quick and easy to set up you didn't even know you were doing it until it was done all of less than a min.
    Great job Apple.
I'm now waiting for a new magic track pad and the charger for my new mouse.
    I'm such an apple fan.

    Great Device

    • Written by from GLASGOW

The glass feels great on your fingers. Battery life is great roughly 1 month for me but may be different depending on how much you use it. Not as many multi touch features as the Magic Trackpad. Over all good device at a fair price.

    Worst. Mouse. Ever.

    • Written by from Sheffield

If you are going to buy an iMac, take my advice... get the trackpad, NOT the magic mouse...

For me, there is NO comfortable way to hold this mouse and I have tried many different ways. It is not ergonomic in the slightest. The movement of the pointer on the screen is far from acceptable when using it.

The one thing I do like about it is the gesture support; very intuitive and useful, but you might as well get the trackpad which is more accurate, comfortable and (at the moment) features more gestures.

If you don't like the trackpad then I would suggest any other standard mouse. If you buy this there's a fair chance your fingers will be aching from the constant attempts to hold this mouse comfortably.

Steer clear and get the magic trackpad instead!

Great to use but battery life could be better

    • Written by from Cheltenham

I have been using this mouse for almost a year now andI love it. I saw in other reviews that people get annoyed by the swiping and other gestures you can use to scroll and zoom - mostly I love those although not all applications use the same direction for zoom (left/right or up/down). Generally I like them. You can switch those off in the control panel if you don't like them anyway.

The mouse is comfortable to use and has a lovely tactile feel to it. As there is no physical division on the surface I occasionally do a right click instead of a left click.

I do get often caught out by the battery life both alkaline and NiMH rechargeables and occasionally it loses bluetooth connection and then takes ages to reconnect. I rarely remember to switch the mouse off overnight but that would only save 8 hours in 24 and would still be be fairly poor.

And a word of warning, don't turn off your bluetooth connection just out of interest otherwise you will need your keyboard shortcuts to navigate back to the control panel and turn it on again or restart or use a wired pointing device (another mouse or graphics tablet).

Overall, using this mouse is such a good experience I would definitely recommend it despite the occasional drawbacks.

    A great mouse

    • Written by from ILKLEY

I find this to be a great, intuitive mouse. You can configure and adjust the right/left click, sensitivity and speed etc. The scrolling and page navigation is great.

I never turn the mouse off (although it might have a sleep function) and it has only used a 2 sets of battery's in the 6 months that I have had it. I use Duracell Procell and this might be a fix for others who seem to have very poor battery life issues.

One of the coolest mouse ever. However not for gaming! Battery life is great if you use a proper battery, ie Energiser, not some cheap battery.

Poor battery life and constant connection problems

    • Written by from Penarth

The battery life is just appalling. Alkaline batteries lasted about 1 month. Rechargeable ones less than 1 week. I switch the mouse off overnight, but this leads to all sorts of connection problems, so I always have an old cable mouse plugged in for standby. Not a very usable product, even though I like the touch-scroll functionality.

    The best mouse for macs

    • Written by from Copenhagen

I looove my Magic Mouse. Its seamless scrolling and regal multi-touch gestures works like a charm. I was disappointed by the battery life, and it is prone to fail if you abuse it, but it is worth it all. It is quite simply the best mouse for the mac.

    Decent mouse

    • Written by from London

I wanted a mouse to use as an alternative to the trackpad on my Macbook Pro and so went for the (very attractive imho) magic mouse. The ergonomics took a little bit of getting used to, but I now find it comfortable to use. The mouse is great for navigating in Safari and OS X Lion.

    A reposte

    • Written by from Bristol

I think this mouse is extremely useful. At first it took a little getting used to but now it is smooth and seamless. Also in response to the bad review I've just read. You certainly can change the speed of the traking/scrolling on the mouse in the settings so don't really understand the problem there.

Anyway. Very please with my mouse, my magic keyboard and Trackpad. I'm all chocked full of technology.

    Better than anything else

    • Written by from Bodmin

Having been a PC Gamer for many years I have used more mice with more configurations, sizes and designs than the majority of computer users.
The Magic Mouse is perhaps one of the best mice ever created for those that want to do anything except gaming.

It feels great in the hand, the surface is perfect for scrolling with and the battery lasts pretty well considering all it is capable of.

However, it is the most atrocious device for any kind of gaming. If you intend to play games on your Mac then have a second, gaming specific mouse for this kind of use.
