    Love it

Like others I was fed up with the old mouse and the scroll ball not working anymore. It scrolled one way but not the other, some of the apps I use lost a little functionality due to that! I have an iMac 20" and decided to buy it a Christmas present Magic Mouse and Snow Leopard.

I don't make use of expose so don't share that frustration with others and I have taken to it like a duck to water. It feels very natural to me and my hands are quite big. It was easy to install after I upgraded OSX and then downloaded all of the updates. So bye-bye Mighty Mouse hello Magic Mouse!

    As expected

Excellent...I've just got this because I was fed up of my mighty mouse roller ball not working. The magic mouse is excellent, I did a lot of research before buying it and some of the reviews said it wasn't very ergonomic to the hand but it feels fine to me. I also have a macbook pro so I'm used to the multi finger gestures which translate perfectly onto the magic mouse....truly MAGIC

    Just what I wanted

    • Written by from BATH

I'm aware that some people are disappointed by the Magic Mouse, but it suits me perfectly. I spend my day at my Mac, normally using a Logitech wireless multibutton mouse. Some months ago I started to get a worrying numbness in the tip of my left-button clicking finger, and switched to a Logitech trackball. I have also experimented with a Wacom Bamboo trackpad device. Both have their merits, but neither seems as intuitive and easy to use as a mouse. I do like the way scrolling works on a trackpad, and this is one of the reasons I splashed out on a MM.

The Magic Mouse is much flatter than most mice, which annoys some users. I really like it. It allows me to keep my fingers lying along the surface of the mouse and perform clicks by pressing the whole index finger, thus avoiding pressure on the tip. As other users have reported, the right-click works flawlessly too, despite the fact that there is no separate right button - you just press on the right side of the mouse.

I use my mice directly on a laminated desk surface, and the Magic Mouse works perfectly on this. It slides easily, but doesn't move when I use the scrolling gesture on the top surface.

    One satisfied customer!

    Fantastic

Very nice mouse which does everything it claims to do, seamlessly. It's ridiculously intuitive and if you use an iPhone, the momentum scrolling really is a welcome addition.

The scrolling is the best bit in my opinion, I'm looking for long documents or webpages just to mouse around on!

    What a relief

This mouse is great for me. I was constantly pressing the side buttons on my old mouse and this was so annoying. I was also regularly loosing scrolling power as the tiny ball often stuck.

I like the wide range of actions now available to my fingers - no hesitation in recommending the Magic Mouse.

    Not bad so far

I had been using a wireless mighty mouse. I was getting tired of cleaning the scrolling ball all the time. The scrolling ball was not working as feel, as time went on. I was planning on getting a new mouse soon, then I saw the magic mouse. GREAT TIMING! Yes, there are somethings missing, with the dashboard, and the side squeeze buttons; but the smooth scrolling, more than makes up for any inconvenience you may encounter. And as with most of Apples products, it works and looks like a piece of art work.

    What a top product!

I have been using my mouse for a couple of weeks now and find it just perfect. It fits my hand like a glove and glides around with ease. Functionally it is great. I have set up expose by right clicking and for those who complain about lack of access to dashboard, well if you are unable to reach F12 then there is little hope for you. The weight is right for my heavy-handedness and lack of scroll wheel means my days of cleaning out my mouse are over. I'm sitting back and waiting for the PC people to catch up.

Read the reviews BEFORE you buy. I did and this mouse is great!

    • Written by from York

The magic mouse has very mixed reviews from its many users. Some simply cannot accept that it has no side-squeeze buttons for use with Exposé. The specification IS mentioned and the absence of the side buttons is pretty clear.

Like the mighty mouse before it, it will accept right-click but only with the left finger lifted from the surface. This can be learned, and is a tad of a draw-back, but not much.

It has a low profile; this has been mentioned by a great number of people, some can accept it and some find it cripples their hand. I read the reviews and chose to accept it was different. I reasoned it may cause me some bother but I worked out how I used a mouse and it seemed I did not rest my hand on it, I rested the heel of my hand on the table top and moved the mouse with my fingers for fine detail, and with my whole arm for large movements across the surface, and thus the screen.

If you use the magic mouse with your finger tips, resting the heel of your hand on the table surface, you will find it works well. To stop the magic mouse from skidding around on a smooth surface, I found an old mouse mat with a fabric surface was perfect. I can perform all the new finger dexterity this mouse has allowed without having to grip it with thumb and small finger, which I imagine could cause some hand cramp and make the use of it 'undesirable'.

It is new, it does not have side buttons, you can do right click but with care, it has no centre click facility, it is Bluetooth with all the good and bad things that can give (when it works well, you think 'what's the problem?' and when it doesn't work well you think 'why can't they make Bluetooth work properly?'), it is battery powered and some reviews say upwards of 40 days before the batteries die. If all of this is known and then some users complain about these things, it that Apple's problem? I think not.

It works well for me. It took some time to get used to it, about 1 day to be truthful and after that you stop thinking of it as a new device, it is simply a sleek low-profile mouse with a nice slick touch surface. This part is HIGHLY intuitive and works exactly as shown by Apple in the advertising video. If I had Snow Leopard it would be even better I suspect (weight of scrolling up and down has an apparent 'mass') but I run the very last of the PPC G5 iMacs and that detail of software is denied to me.

I recommend it, but do read up on what you are getting. Some bits are missing from the mighty mouse layout but the touch top layer, for me, more than makes up for it.

I find this a really neat fit into my hand, the scrolling functions became 2nd nature in just a couple of hours - it makes moving around the screen and applications so very easy. Read the description or watch the new iMac video before you buy it to avoid disappointment if you need buttons on your mouse.

SO MUCH BETTER THAN IT'S PREDECESSOR

    • Written by from DONCASTER

Just bought one of these to replace a wired Mighty Mouse which are now out of date and were in need of overhauling. I had previously tried the Wireless Mighty Mouse and did not like it. Thought it was too clumsy.

So far I am impressed. The mouse feels like quality in your hand. Easy sliding and just a firm, well built, quality to it. Using it and setting up was a total breeze. The old Mighty Mouse range had a cheap sort of feel to them. These are the opposite. Very very classy and no more scroll wheel to get gunged up and stop working which became very boring and tiresome with the old design.

I just wonder when they will launch a wired version of it because, as previously mentioned I think the Mighty Mouse needs to go.

Some will disagree as the Magic Mouse does not have the side or centre buttons. For me in particular I never did use the side buttons anyway and seldomly used the centre button (usually used for Expose etc.) so they are not features I will miss. I suspect only real power users use these buttons.

So to conclude the absence of the flawed scroll wheel of old and the quality build and sleek looks along with of course the fantastic usability I have given this 5 stars and recommend it. Downside: Price! Although for a bluetooth mouse of such quality and innovation it is competitive. I do not regret the purchase.

Fantastic mouse. Best mouse ever. Had mine a week now and wouldn't be without it. Very easy to set up, and a dream to use. Was gutted when I thought that I didn't have the button for expose. But have since discovered that you can set it up on there. Just go into system preferences and click on expose and spaces, then click expose, then set it up on secondary mouse. Then when you press top right hand corner of mouse you will see all your open screens. Yay. Though this will remove right click option. But make your choice. You could always use the expose button on keyboard (top row, 4th from left) The option is there. But the scrolling, backward swipe, forward swipe and zoom etc are wonderful. So much easier than mice of old. Would highly recommend.

    Magic Mouse Beauty

    • Written by from London

Yes! It looks beautiful but that isn't what is important here. The new "Magic Mouse" is a joy to use. That perfect harmony of functionality, reliability and ergonomics. It glides round my desk like an Ice Hockey Puck and unlike its plastic forefathers this feels like a beautiful glass pebble. Treat yourself to another great piece of industrial design that makes other mice seem like plastic toys and above all - just works!

    Magic Mouse

As a lefty, I was always impressed with the unidextrous Apple mice of old.
This little gem-of-a-mouse takes this now-ancient device ( in computing terms ) to a new level !
Typically, it combines cutting edge technology with Apple's flair for design.

As with everything else Apple do, the rest will be rushing to copy it, ensuring that, like the Mac OS, the iMac and the iPhone, it will be icon of our time.

All this from a mouse ?
    Yep, you watch the copycats................................

    Excellent, and very habit forming

    • Written by from Cork

The solid state scrolling really is the amazing feature of this mouse. It occasionally gets triggered by accident, but that's pretty rare. I wouldn't say it's a great mouse for gaming, since it's lacking the army of buttons and configuration options one would expect in a gaming mouse.

For general usage and professional work it is a very pleasant mouse to use. Ergonomically it's comfortable and glides very easily.

Well done Apple. This mouse is smooth, elegant, light and functional. It feels like a cross between a mouse and the iPod touch screen. Don't try to clutch it. Just tap it and nudge it and your hands won't hurt at all!
