Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic
terrible headphones
Written by CH from London
11-Sep-2009
they work and then they break. I am now about to buy my third pair as I can't find any other headphones that work with the new shuffle. I will thereby have spend more money (excessively) on headphones than the shuffle itself. A complete rip-off.
Apple: please fix this.43 of 52 people found this useful

Dissapointed...
Written by JL from Wrexham
25-Aug-2009
You'd think that the company that brought you the iPod would make sure that the headphones that accompanied were just as good. But no, these headphone provide poor quality sound with no bass whatsoever. Also after a few months they will begin to fall apart..

Apple store advisers need more training on products!!
Written by RA from Manor Park
09-Sep-2009
I was advised that the headphones are compatabile for all iPods and iPhones, however the volume button on the headphones does not work on iPhone 3G, I had clearly asked the adviser to make sure that the headphones would be compatible with my iPhone, but was clearly advised wrong, I feel that apple store advisers should thoroughly be trained on all products and their compatabilty before advising customers to purchase the product.

Awful!
Written by ME from Guildford

These a AWFUL headphones, a complete wast of time for anybody who is active. you cant run with them in your ears as they just work their way loose and they certainly are not sweat resistant. I have the new speaking shuffle I brought it for the gym but because of the lack of compatible and reasonably priced headphones for the new shuffle I wish I kept to the old style, the no controls on the new shuffle is a waste of time as with out these terrible headphones renders it practically useless!
I have been a fan of apple and there designs for as long as I can remember but these headphones are just not fit for purpose!53 of 93 people found this useful

Headphones with remote
Written by LJ from Northampton
28-Mar-2009
Useless product if you're using these headphones for any cardio / sports related use.
The remote functionality is nice but the headphones constantly fall out so become extremely annoying to use.
Apple please make a sports version with some ear grips.34 of 57 people found this useful

NOT GOOD
Written by AB from London

After only 4 weeks use all I can hear is distortion
evan when the vol is low it is still bad. I cant evan listen to my audio books. I don't understand why all of apple's standard earphones are always bad. I have had every generation of ipod inc iphone and the earphones never last more then 6 weeks. What a shame !!!!!!!!!!!21 of 35 people found this useful

Are my ears the wrong size?
Written by CR from Reading
16-Apr-2009
These are the standard earphones issued with the new shuffle. I can't complain about the sound quality which is first class Apple, but sadly they keep falling out of my ears! Are my ears the wrong size or is this a badly designed product? One of the main selling points of a shuffle is that it is the ideal iPod for sports and exercise. Unfortunately these little guys can't even stay in my ears during a gentle walk home let alone when I start running! Apple should've made these with an ear wrap around to hold them firmly in place, but maybe this design flaw is deliberate in order to get peeps to buy the more expensive sports earphone products.

Don't last long & Poor sound
Written by AJ from Prague 4
03-Dec-2009
I bought these thinking because they have the apple stamp, they are bound to be good (at least).
Started falling apart only after a few weeks, completely stopped working after 5.5 months
The sound is below average too and for the price not good value at all.

Sound quality good BUT
Written by AR from WESTERHAM
29-Jun-2009
The sound quality with these earphones is good, it's very good BUT ultimately that is completely pointless because they do nothing but fall out of your ears, the design is total rubbish.
If you jog or do any kind of physical exercise you can forget using these as they will completely drive you mad by falling out of your ears every five seconds! Steer well clear.15 of 28 people found this useful

awful
Written by WB from watford
25-Oct-2009
every apple product ive ever bought with the free , normal heaphones i just put back in the box and avoid like the plague.
they're not comfortable to wear.
they leak very badly.
when i'm near someone else using them on the tube or train, they leak very badly and its easy to hear what others are listening to...if i notice someone with them i usually travel to another carriage in the hope i can longer hear the tinny music leaking.
generally, i have about 3 or 4 of earphones from various apple products and they never get used .
the only positive points are they have a mic, and remote functions.8 of 17 people found this useful

Poor sound, poor fit
Written by SF from chelmsford
01-Dec-2009
I recently purchased a 4gb 3rd gen ipod shuffle. I am more than happy with the ipod itself but am very disappointed with the headphones as i find that with minimum movement, i.e walking and turning my head, they fall out of my ears (mainly the right side). This seems to defeat the point of the shuffle's portability and being used when undertaking physical activity.
I was hoping to get around this problem by using third party sports headphones but due to the design of the shuffle, headphones other than Apple's cannot operate the controls. This would therefore mean that the shuffle is not fit for purpose.
Had I known this I would have spent extra money and bought a Nano. I appreciate that there are adaptors that can allow other headphones to be used but I resent spending more money on headphones than the actual cost of shuffle.2 of 6 people found this useful

Horrible
Written by TU from birmingham

The worst headphones that can come with such an awesome product. it won't stay in my ears, sound quality is ultra poor and everyone else can hear what i'm listening to.
Quite a few times i've been told to turn them off at libraries coz the sound leaks out!!
the remote and the mic is a neat idea though :)6 of 22 people found this useful

Apple, make a pair of sport headphones like the Sennheiser PMX 70 for the new shuffle and you will sell thousands of them, simple as.
The 3 combined are brilliant, i had modify them myself but they they work brilliantly the PMX 70 wired to the remote apple to the new Ipod shuffle, cant beat it.

goodly rubbish
Written by SE from newport

in my oppinion these are brilliant for the quality and the design looks ultra sweet, although they have a very short life excpectancy im on my fourth pair of headphones this year as i got my iphone on christmas.
but next time they break im never buying apple headphones, if you think about it thats alot of money spent where as you could just buy some senhiser ones or some ones that dont break as often, apple should really think about this so many of my freinds headphones are breaking and were all fed up :(
its the same with the iphone charging cable thats broken aswell, so has my freinds its rediculous and the price they charge...
to top it all of.. if you have an ipod shuffle (1st gen) and headphones and the dock happens to break, use common sence buy a new shuffle, youll save about £1 and get a free shuffle :)
like ive said, quality 5*
reliability 1*
im sorry about my whining but im sick and tired of apples weak cables
(p.s i do take care of my gadgets and cables)48 of 61 people found this useful

Why dont they just last!?
Written by JM from BRADFORD
07-Sep-2009
Just like all apple headphones before them, these are great until they break. And that doesn't take long. I've taken good care of mine. Not used them too much. Kept them dry. In a case. But it's been not even two months and they've already got problems. On certain low base notes, one of the ear buds crackles ...Apple, I love your products and all, but take a hint! People like stuff to last more than a week!!! PLEASE DO SOMETHING! FOR THE LOVE OF CUSTARD, PLEASE!

Good sound poor build
Written by AC from London
06-Aug-2009
I think my pair lasted about three months before the sound completely cut out. So I bought some standard apple headphones which also sounded good, but now the rubber has come off them completely. Apart from that, they're fine. Too expensive though, so I think I'll buy some Sony ones for £9.99 instead. The last pair of those I had lasted about three years, and they sounded good!
