    Bad Move by Apple

    Mr Apple needs to listen to these comments. On a professional piece of kit, you should not be reliant on a flimsy adaptor to perform a basic task like display on an external display or projector. I understand the reasoning behind the change to smaller connections, Space. But if you can't fit a professional connector on the laptop, make it bigger! A professional grade laptop like the MacBook Pro should have a professional 25 pin DVI connection with the industry standard adaptor for VGA. there is a reason why the DVI connector is the size it it, and that is reliability.

    Sort it on the next model!!!

    Bought this cable when I was buying my MacBook Pro. It works perfectly with my tv. When I connect it to my Mac, the Mac automatically changes to the correct display resolution for my tv. When I disconnect the cable, it automatically changes back to the correct display resolution for my MacBook Pro screen, very simple indeed

    All the negative reviews of this product are from people who bought this cable for the wrong purpose or bought the wrong cable.

    I don't know why so many people are having problems. I have used this cable to successfully connect my unibody MacBook Pro to an Optoma projector and a SAMSUNG 32" LCD television. It is currently connecting my new MacMini to the exact same television as a media centre, without a glitch! And my TV is 2-3 years old, newer ones should work even better!

    I have bought the adapter (Mini DisplayPort to VGA) and tried it with my new MacBook Pro and it works beautifully - I only adjust to "mirror" the screen at Display at system preferences. Apple will never let me down while the other PC let me down during my important presentations as their laptop sometimes freezes, etc.

    I have a 13" Unibody MacBook and an old 19" TFT (Samtron 73v).

    The adapter works as described out of the box, no problems at all. Only things that could be better is that the lead could be a bit longer, other than that, all OK.

    This product is not at the high standard you come to expect from apple.

    I am unable to connect my brand new Macbook to my Samsung TV as it would seem apple did not properly test this product before releasing it.

    Do NOT buy this product if you have a Samsung TV...

    VGA adaptor for MBP 13inch

    I bought a MBP In July, to date i have had one visit to store and two calls from support yet the thunderbolt port still fails to synch. As a tutor and student, the one thing I hate is being embarrassed. After borrowing other windows systems for presentations, Apple has allowed this to occur now, as they fail to rectify the fault! Be very aware the cable to attach MBP to VGA often doesn't work. The forums support this! The fault is there, but they fail to advise before purchase and don't help after...

    I think the best that can be said for this & the DVI adaptor is, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
    The older your monitor, it seems the less chance of success. I have tried both of these adapters on a pair of IBM C220P CRT screens. DP-DVI fails to be recognised at all, DP-VGA will see it, but only up to 1600x1200 @ 60Hz. I've even tried the software hacks, no joy.
    So my purchase of a new 200 quid graphics card to replace a failed 8800 now means I have to spend another £1400 on 2 new matched monitors:-(

    Simply does not work with a variety of CRT monitors. And updating the firmware did not help for my 19 inch LaCie Electronblue monitor.

    Not to mention that the DVI adaptor, which is supposed to have addressed these issues, is a DVI-D so it carries no analog signal, forcing you to buy a VGA adaptor, not to mention how pricey they are.

    I am very very disappointed with apple lately, and I have been using them for years, but for the past two years i have only had one good product from apple, my unibody MacBook Pro and still have complaints about it that never arose with my old G4 iMac or G5 Mac Pro.

    Problem with Samsung TV

    I bought this from apple shop and delivered to my home a few days later and found it not working with my 40" Samsung HDTV (while my other notebook with built in vga port worked without problem). Called them up, they sent a courier to pick up the device and refunded to my credit card. Excellent service, Poor Product. Not sure if the new firmware update solved this problem, but until now, I cannot enjoy using macbook on my 40" TV via vga port in the year of 2009~

    Great product, works perfectly. Those Samsung owners complaining that this product doesn't work on Samsung TV's, well, perhaps you should have read your manuals first. Samsung has restricted certain modern TV's to use DVI, not VGA. So it's a Samsung Support Issue! Don't blame Apple for it not working. Remember folks, VGA only supports picture, you need a separate stereo/phono cable for audio.

    Rarely do I bother to write a review, but I bought this after seeing the negative comments (really needed it), but it worked excellently when I used it. In case I did something different, the VGA output was converted using a splitter into a Composite output which was sent to the projectors (not samsung so I don't know whether this would work). On the whole pretty good.

    Using this adapter to connect a second display to a Mac Pro. Mac will not recognise the correct resolution for the display.
    An identical display is connected to the DVI port via a VGA>DVI adapter without any problems.

    We have used this adapter on interactive white boards, VGA projectors, LCD screens, plasma screens etc. and it has worked every time. It has worked flawlessly through our MacBook Pro 17" i7 (May 2010) when our partner consultant's windows machines have crashed and burned. (no surprise there!)

    It is expensive but worth the money because like most apple products it "just works".

    Though a little pricey I am very content with this product. After reading numerous reviews varying from positive to rather negative I received the cable with anxiety. But after checking with a couple of TVs and a number of projectors I have no complaints. It just works. I now can take my MBP around and use it for a number of new purposes.

    I got it at an Apple Retail Store, and it's great! It works brilliant connecting my MacBook to my DGM 19" Flat Screen TV, but it's very expensive for a cable, so it only got four stars. Please lower the price apple!!!

    Have tries several adapters on several projectors. I got a picture on the beamer, but only in 1024x768 which is wrong format and wrong resolution.
    What I wonder is if ther's anyone who knows if it is nessecary to have IDbits connected as well. This is not possible in this building. At ALL. Therefore the signal is "only"
    RGBHV which all standard PC's can handle. It is not possible to change the resolution on the Mac's own screen neither on the projector.

    Plug into the display port , attach to VGA (and realise how archaic this is after the ease of display port) and the new display works !
    Used with an LCD projector and a VGA to TV adapter with no problems whatsoever.
