AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11n and AirTunes
Quick fix
Written by RB from Cranbrook

This does exactly what it says with no trouble what so ever - real plug and play. I bought it extend my wireless network and hook my ethernet printer up to. Had had huge connectivity problems with another wireless bridge and this has just nailed it on a BT HH wireless network.

Music from my Mac to my HiFi
Written by MH from solihull

I think this cost me £70 and for that I am able to play all of my music on my HiFi system. I have heard stories about setting up but for me it was intuitive and fairly easy. I plugged it in and attached it to the network and plugged into amplifier and hey presto - within about 10 Minutes I was streaming music. I have saved so much storage space with puttting away CD's and can now mix and create playlists. All in all I listen to much more music than i did before because its so much easier and thats what its about isnt it? listening to the music. had no problems with delay and would thoroughly recommend. Only thing i want to do now is work out if i can sore music on external HD and still play.

Amazing!

When I initially bought this I had some problems getting it to work with my BT Homehub 2.0. Then I found this help page: [search discussions. apple . com for thread 8702354] - Sorry can't publish URLs. I have since had nothing but the sweet tunes coming from my Bose Speaker Dock - it works seamlessly now, no interruptions to the stream.
Really handy if you want to move your tunes around for a house party - use it with the Remote App on an Ipod Touch/ IPhone and you're set!10 of 10 people found this useful

It works.

I bought the Airport Express (AX) along with an Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS). Plugged in set and working in around thirty minutes. I get occasional drop outs on the AX but I use it for hours each day for music without any hassle at all. The manual cautions against using either unit close to other cable runs and cordless phones. In this day and age this amounts to being asked to drive a car but avoid tarmac. Each individual set up will vary so much that one star reviews saying AX doesn't work should be viewed with caution. I live in a fairly regular house with the usual amount of cables, phones and external interference (eight other networks show on Airport next to mine) and would buy the two units again without hesitation. BTW, the music sounds way better via AX than it ever did plugged in directly by cable from iPod to the same hifi.

Superb Product

I bought this because my Imac 24" wouldn't connect to my wifi router - mainly because of weak signal strength. The airport express is located 4 feet away from the Imac and is connecting 100% of the time. It is so reliable I have just installed a 10/100 hub connected to the LAN port, which now connects the Imac and 2 pc's - loving it.

Such a brilliant idea. Great for party's. Can now have songs playing throughout the flat through different speakers in different rooms. I can even choose songs through my ipod touch. Its also great for boosting our wireless signal and great for wireless printing. Ive also connected our xbox to the ethernet port in the base station so we can now run xbox live. Its easy to set up too. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!

Just excellent!

Having already coughed up for a Netgear wireless print server I was left with my printer not compatible and requiring some serious know how in configuring it with vista, a task that is mind boggling with TCP/IP protocols and ports being set and not recognised. After 2 very long and frustrating hours I gave up and went and bought this from PC World. It is just amazing. It worked straight out the box and I was printing whilst streaming my music via AirTunes within 15mins - it would have been 2mins if I had read the instructions and plugged everything in at first! Once again the only flaw in an Apple product is the fleshy end user. The fact that this will connect to ones wireless network or create it's own is just amazing and completely worth the price. I've already convinced a friend to go and buy one tomorrow. Thank you apple for being brilliant - as always. When will the backwardness of PC vanish from this Earth?!

This is why I buy Apple, beautiful packaging and ever so simple to set up. Plugged it in, turned it on all configured in under 5mins, printer works, speakers are brilliant and whats even better is the range! When purchasing I had no idea it included the option for 5ghz but it does and the performance and range are even higher!
Brilliant, absolutely fantastic, cant recommend it or apple enough.15 of 15 people found this useful

Excellent product, does exactly what I wanted!
Written by MS from Bristol

I purchased this today from an apple shop, and had it working the way I wanted in around 30 minutes.
I wanted to be able to stream music to a set of powered speakers and to share a reasonably old USB deskjet printer. At this point I'm not too concerned about extending my WLAN or using the airport as a standalone wireless router.
I did a very rare thing and actually read the instruction booklet first; it does help in this case!
After connecting the airport to the mains, I used the provided utility to join it to an existing WPA-encrypted wireless router (BT HomeHub) with no trouble at all.
Played around an hours worth of music with no drop-outs and the sound quality is excellent.
Sharing the printer was pretty straightforward, although bear in mind you need to install Bonjour on each machine you need to use the printer. Again, flawless operation.
Very happy with this purchase.21 of 23 people found this useful

Surprisingly Great
Written by KO from Leeds

Like one of the other reviewers, I got this as a replacement for a poorly performing BT Home Hub. I'm not very technically minded and having read some of the negative remarks about how difficult some people found it to set up, I was a bit worried about whether I would have problems. My only problem was was that I didn't realise that I would have to have a separate modem to make this work, assuming that my cable would go straight from my asdl filter into the AirPort. Luckily I had an old spare wired modem/router and cables and so I managed to overcome it and my wireless internet is back up and running within 10 minutes of unplugging the old Home Hub. Good stuff Apple!

I bought this mainly to allow me to stream iTunes into my house from my office in the garden. I was very impressed with the ease of setup and also the ability to extend my wired network in to the house via the ethernet port on the Express.
I am considering purchasing another to allow me to add a printer to my network for my kids to use in the house.

As with everything Apple this is an excellent product, works with my MacBook Pro, Iphone, friends ipod touch and my wife's Windows laptop with no problem at all. The Airtunes functionality is great (and works on both Windows and Macbook running itunes). Only problem I had setting this up was a little "over-eagerness" but when I stopped, reset everything then read the instructions BEFORE plugging everything in it worked great. Set-up couldn't have been easier using the utility already installed on my macbook. I'll be buying at least one more to use the Airtunes on additional Hi-fi's in the house.

I bought my Airport Express this morning and having set it up, I can quite honestly say that it's amazing. I have a Bose Portable unit and 8GB Nano and it's turned into a bit of a pain having to refill the Nano everytime I want to listen to a song that's not on it. Now I can just listen to it through the Airport! It's made my life so much easier. The setup is a dream...really easy and user friendly. The product itself is totally discrete and works perfectly. Really, Apple is absolutely amazing at product innovation and blows me away with every new product I buy. I'm talking my Mum into getting one as well. Well Done Apple!!!!!
