    Steinway for typing

    • Written by from Sligo Town

Thin slice of aluminium, which is so beautiful I couldn't start using it for the purpose it was made. Eventually I attached this to my MB and... Oh, God! I can't take my hands off! It's fantastic! I never wrote new txts so fast, confident, strainless. It's so flat, but sure with the keys! Pure pleasure. I'm gonna carry it everywhere together with MB. It's (i guess) 0.5kg of beauty and comfort. Gorgeous looking and made for typing.

Good if you have Fine Motor Difficulties

    • Written by from Wakefield

I got this keyboard with my new iMac and use it with a word prediction program due to me having difficulties with my co-ordination.

I find it easier to type on than my PC keyboard where I was constantly hitting two keys together. As there is a space between each key (around 3mm) and the flatter wider key I find it easier to hit an individual key with more accuracy without needing a keyguard on it too.

I would recommend it to others.

    Improvement

    • Written by from SHERBORNE

I just happened to be using my brother's rather ancient Mac with his new keyboard and it stood out just how much better his keyboard was - more reliable, less noisy, smoother action - than the original keyboard of my more modern machine that misses 1 out of every 100 or less key presses of mine. I think the difference in behaviour has to be quite marked for it to stand out like that.
To type this review I've had to go back and insert missing letters several times.
So that's why I'm here - buying a new keyboard like his! I think it will suit my typing style a lot better than the one I'm using right now.

    Best Keyboard Ever

I've had this keyboard for a few months now and it's brilliant, easy to find the keys and quiet. The style is so much better than the old, which looks dated now.

    Excellent keyboard

    • Written by from Altrincham

I bought this keyboard a month ago to use with my macbook while its hooked up to my TV. I love it. The spacing is similar to the macbook keyboard and transferring between the two is easy. I actually prefer it to the wireless keyboard which a friend has, purely because it's a bit more substantial. It looks beautiful on my desk and is wonderful to type on. It feels responsive and it's ergonomically sound.

    Grand work apple, grand work.

    Keyboard

    • Written by from Houston

The new Apple keyboard looks very nice - however, if you want to use it to type then forget it - it is ergonomically flawed. Forget this one - it's pretty useless.

    No Problemo with 10.4.11!

    • Written by from Wokingham

I use this keyboard on my old G4 running 10.4.11 and I have not noticed anything wrong with it, all functions ok. Download the keyboard software update 1.2 dmg if necessary. If you "lost" some keys, just check the keyboard viewer button in the inpout menu of the international pref pane, and you'll discover that to get the £ (yes, this one!) you just have to press shift-3... Otherwise great built quality, superb looks and really nice feeling under the fingers... I better stop...

    Fantastic product with £ key!

    • Written by from Camberley

This keyboard it just fantastic. It is beautifully designed and MUCH better than my old white heavy 'clacky' keyboard. Typing is now a pleasure rather than a chore. Delivery was super fast.

Contrary to other reviews I can confirm that my keyboard does have a '£' key. However, make sure you order the United Kingdom version and not the International English version. There's a drop down list on the right hand side of the page where you can make your choice.

In response to "Where is the £ key?"...

    • Written by from NEWCASTLE EMLYN

If your keyboard came without a £ key then you must have ordered the International English language version.

You should have selected British English as the language, this version of the keyboard does have the £ key in the usual place.

    Excellent

    • Written by from Farnborough

Excellent keyboard just easy plug and play, easy to transport around with my laptop and very robust. Just commenting on mac OSX 10.4. the normal F key functions do work if you go to system preferences and go to keyboards and mouses and tick the box for the use of all F keys so you can use the F9, F10, F11 and F12 keys all as normal and to use printed on picture keys press the function key and F9 and it will skip tracks for example.
If you can work your mac you can work this!
    Enjoy

    where is the £ key?

    • Written by from Oxford

I cannot believe that the UK keyboard, bought here in the UK, fails to have a £ key. Also no 'go the end of the line' key (but perhaps there are some key combinations that do the same?).
The quality and feel is superb so overall I am happy!

    STOP If you use 10.4

    • Written by from DUBLIN 24

I bought this keyboard to replace one that had a few non functioning keys due to coffee, delighted with my new purchase lovely look and feel to it but no software update is available for me to use it on Tiger 10.4.11. Result I have a keyboard that has a load of non functioning keys (not the same ones as the old one)EG I can't alter the audio volume, most all of the F keys don't do what they are supposed to. Be Warned, this will cost you an extra €129 to upgrade to OS 10.5 so that you can use it.

Neat and tidy, no more crumbs

    • Written by from Luton

Yes a very neat and tidy keyboard. Light to the touch, and a lower profile than the previous incarnation.

This keyboard is not a crumbcatcher.

    Very Pleased

    • Written by from Ryde

As a previous PC user, and only just recently moving over to Mac, I've been really pleased with this keyboard. The build quality is really good, and the hot keys at the top are really useful. Also, the two USB ports are nice to have and make life a bit easier - no more messing about with cables at the back of the computer. All-in-all, a very good and comfortable keyboard that seems to be built to last.

    Best Keyboard ever?

    • Written by from Ipswich

I got one of these a few weeks ago with an Aluminium iMac.
I'm about to buy one for my girlfriend's PC.
I was concerned that it would feel flimsy and not be good to type on but needn't have been; it's wonderful for touch typing and is manufactured to a high quality.
The keyboard works fine with OS X, Windows XP/Vista and Linux, but in Windows some of the keys had to be re-mapped; in Linux I just selected the Mac keyboard layout and everything was fine.
I have the GB layout which is very similar to the US layout.
What don't I like about it?
The # key is Alt + 3, the Esc and ctrl keys don't have the symbols on them to correspond with the symbols in the OS X menus.

That's it. I'm very fussy about keyboards to the point where I was going to have one custom made at great expense, but this is as close to perfect as a keyboard ever has been.

best keyboard i have ever used

    • Written by from herne bay

This is a 5***** product and it works on WINDOWS!!.For £29 you cant ask for more. it has a very nice feel to the keys. they are easy to press and are not to close together making misstypes a thing of the past. my typing speed has increased when using this keyboard because it is so easy to navigate around it. A great product and well worth the money, ultra slim and they mean it. i would recoomend it if you lack desk space. although i think the mouse apple make is a bit..... clunkey. i would reccomend this keyboard to anyone.

Looks Awesome, Excellent Quality, Comfortable & Quiet but...

    • Written by from Bradford

I've had all sorts of keyboards, with this being so thin I was concerned it may feel a little bit flimsy like a cheap laptop keyboard, but i was wrong. I think this has to be the best keyboard I've tried to date, it feels solid and it really makes typing a breeze. I actually look forward to typing on it.

Because the keys are much lower profile than the old Apple and many other keyboards, your fingers don't have to press down as far or as hard. This reduces the strain on your fingers and hands, and allows your fingers to move to the next position/key much faster. The combination of that and the keyboard being virtually flush to the desk, means it feels natural and pleasant to type with your palms sat comfortably on the desk. The new labeled function keys are a nice touch too.

Whilst it takes a little while (day of so) for your fingers to adjust you soon begin to realize how much energy has been wasted typing on an old keyboard. Plus its quieter too! no more clatter clatter like back in the old days.

The only issue I have found is the tendency to miss the enter key as it is quite a bit smaller than most other keyboards. They should have made it bigger, (especially as stressed designers are notorious for bashing the enter key lol). This is my only design issue but one that I can live with for the speed gains, aesthetics & comfort. Of course it looks mint, and hopefully thanks to the aluminum will last for a long time.

Besides a bigger enter key, as a final touch it would be great to to see a backlit option for the keys, however if you can touch type this isn't really an issue, but it would be nice to find those new function keys easily in the dark whilst gaming or watching a dvd / movie etc.

A few small layout changes compared to the old apple keyboard include the eject key, which has moved from the right corner to F13 so all you fast restart / shutdown shortcut peeps may need to get used to it.

Whilst it has 2 usb ports they don't provide enough power to power my usb flash thumb drive which is a disappointment (same as old apple keyboard). Finally with no visible way do disassemble the keyboard, cleaning may be an issue, but tbh at such a great price would probably be easier to buy another ;)

Overall though an excellent keyboard, highly recommended, massive improvement on the old apple keyboards. The keyboard wins on quality & price. Apple design at its best.

Been using the Apple keyboard for a few days and it is great. Looks fantastic, thinner and more elegant than the photos make out! Very responsive keys with a great feel and a great price.
    Highly recommend it!
