Superb product and superb service

Stunning service from Apple; I ordered this online and had the courier standing on my doorstep within 24 hours!!
The keyboard itself takes a little getting used to for those of use used to the conventional keyboards that come packaged with PCs (recent Mac convert!), which have a much harder action and more raised keys. It is a much lower profile, but the action is beautiful and makes typing much more effortless.
Beautifully designed, plugs and plays, both under Mac OS X and in Windows under Boot Camp.
For those who type a lot, buy this and never look back. Your only regret will be not having bought it sooner.12 of 21 people found this useful

Apple does it...AGAIN
Written by DS from London
21-Nov-2007
The best piece of design in a long time, and for a keyboard...ever! It's really the bench mark for keyboards, for me at least, from now on. I can't begin to describe how much better it is than anything I've ever tried. It's effortless to use and makes you feel good using it. The keys are perfectly spaced and the action of them is...well perfect really. I also think this thing will wear so much better than any keyboard ever as well. There's no gaps to fill with dirt, hair or lunch.
I did want the wireless one but wanted the number pad. I wish they had this keyboard in a wireless format.
But the wired keyboard by it's self is flawless. 10/10 which I don't think I could ever give anything. Perfect form and function, and I think this will go down in history for design. Well done apple.2 of 3 people found this useful

best keyboard ever
Written by RJ from LONDON

I was worried about getting this as an external keyboard for my powerbook as I'm on 10.3.9 and the box says it requires 10.4.10 but I took a gamble. Fortunately, all the typing keys works as normal as you'd expect, I can use expose on F9, 10 and 11 as I could with my previous apple pro keyboard, brightness on F14 & 15, the only downside is losing the volume keys. However, my laptop's not far away and I have a control on my speakers too. But aside from the technicalities it is absolutely fantastic to type with. Really fast, no effort, and I'm hardly missing any keys even at speed. I'm so glad I didn't wait till I get Tiger or Leopard. Brilliant!

A delight to use

And very attractive it is, too. I'm writing this at my usual pace and the keyboard presents no problems. Very clean action and fast. Now I have to buy another for my Mac at home. So when does the matching aluminium Mighty Mouse get released?

Joy!

This keyboard is an absolute joy to use. Took me a while to get used to it following the old white/transparent version but the new one just completely looks the biz, especially on a minimal workspace.

I'll be succinct. This product is absolutely gorgeous! I was hoping for something - anything - to discourage me from spending so much time in front of the Mac. This certainly isn't it.

Superb...
Written by NT from Cookham Dean
26-Oct-2007
I've used this keyboard for three weeks and it's quite simply the best I've ever owned for a PC or a Mac... somehow it manages to compensate for the inevitable errors of a very speedy one-finger typist and, after getting used to its low profile feel, the keys inspire absolute confidence... what you type (or think you're typing) is pretty much what you get and, as a result, you type much faster which is after all what it's all about.
Shame that the more compact wireless version - which is what I really wanted - doesn't have a delete key. While someone at Apple gets their head round the fact that a huge amount of their desktop and laptop users actually want (for good reason) this "missing key" the wired version is the only serious option. But, in its wired form at least, Apple has once again come up with something that's just so much better than anything out there.4 of 9 people found this useful

5 Stars - Ex Dell users will never "get it"
Written by PL from DINAS POWYS

When are those reviewers who criticise Apple products going to accept that they are just simply wrong! - it's them, not Apple. Go back to your nasty Dells, heathens!
Apple spend millions getting design right - what made you the expert?
You just "get it" or you don't - if you don't then just go away and take a trip to PC World.

Nice design but...
Written by PL from LONDON
25-Oct-2007
I really like the slimline design and the keys are easy to use but...why is there no number (hash, gate) symbol key? Any web-designer/developer MUST use the number (hash)symbol when creating stylesheets and many tools like BBEdit don't provide a way of inserting the symbol as they assume you have the key!
Apparently the wireless model has the same problem - so it looks like I will have to get a 3rd party keyboard!8 of 15 people found this useful

The keyboard takes some getting used to - but after a few hours of bad typo's - its just great. Looks amazing. Worth every penny - I just laugh when I see that clunky old Dell PC keyboard. Highly recommended. A must buy

needs more thought
Written by TA from bromley

Well it looks great feels great but not really well thought out practically. The cable is too short especially if have the 24" screen you need to sit at a distance at least provide an ext cord.especially the wired mouse is even shorter,i mean how much would it cost to incl a longer cable maybe 30pence.Also the function keys could have been placed over the numeric keys on the right then they could be software setting to make them one touch as you already have one touch numbers above and the play/pause/brightness buttons can be left alone. The enter/return key is too small for a key thats used the most and can easily be missed. The caps key needs a few trys sometimes too i found that even with the wireless version.Apart from all this its a lovely keyboard if you can put up with the above points, its still passes the apple quality you would expect

Nice transition if you are used to laptop keys.
Beautiful to type on, doesn't take much desk space, easy to keep clean, and the price is very good.22 of 42 people found this useful

Great Keyboard
Written by DW from CHELTENHAM
09-Oct-2007
Recevied the new keyboard today & have to say it's great to use. Does'nt take up much room on my desk & is really comfortable to use.
The best thing is it will be really easy to clean as before I was using the White Bluetooth Keyboard & only after 3 months use it was starting to look grubby.
The Aluminium finish compliments my Mac mini as well.
The only thing that I got to get used to is the Enter/Return key is much smaller then other keyboards I have used.
Yet another top Apple Product!!!25 of 43 people found this useful

Good but does not activate start-up options on Mac Mini
Written by RB from SALFORD
06-Oct-2007
I absolutely love the look and feel of this keyboard. It's much better on my wrists than my old chunky white and clear keyboard, and it does not collect all the unsightly debris of everyday use that my old one did!
However, I have had to keep my old keyboard spare... This one seems to have a flaw, at least when used with my Intel Core Duo 1.6GHz Mac Mini - It will not activate any of the start-up options (such as holding down "C" for optical drive boot-up, "N" for network boot, etc...).
I have searched the support knowledge base on Apple's site and can find nothing about this.
Shame, because it's otherwise a fantastic keyboard!19 of 50 people found this useful

star print too late
Written by FL from st helier
06-Oct-2007
the keyboard is excellent indeed, except for one thing: the usb2 hub. i am a happy owner of the previous version of the iMac and i bought this new keyboard especially for it's high speed ports, and now i found out that they work only with the new iMac. frankly, i haven't seen that star print 'cause it wasn't there, so i am sure it must have been added there recently. a bit unfair but hopefully apple will release an update software to solve that issue SOON.

Stunning
Written by IB from Cheadle

Apple has got it right again. The design of the keyboard is flawless. Its small form is sometimes swamped by the desk that it sits on, but apart from that there is nothing wrong with the design.
As for use, the keys are very easy to type on. There is no problem with muscle memory as mentioned elsewhere. Even though the return key is a lot smaller, it is still in easy reach for touch typists.14 of 35 people found this useful

It'll Do!
Written by KO from Leeds

I'm a bit disappointed. I really liked the chunkiness of the old mac keyboard. Okay, so it won't collect the dirt (or the tea that I spilled all over my old one, hence having to buy a new keyboard) but it's flat like a laptop, and if I'd wanted a laptop I would have bought one. Having said that, it does it's job and that's a good thing!

BRILLIANT!!
Written by RG from Worthing

What a superb bit of kit!! Such an impressive improvement over the older iMac keyboard - feels like a lovely laptop keyboard, is really easy to keep clean (rather than gathering dust and dirt underneath the keys which shows through the clear plastic of the old one!) and has improved my typing speed as it's so much more positive! Ignore comments about slipping too - mine hasn't budged since it touched my desk a week ago!
