I received delivery of my keyboard this morning, as usual with Apple just when they said it would arrive, once I had torn open the packaging in a manner that no PC user would ever open a Microsoft keyboard package I was presented with what is without doubt the most beautiful keyboard I have ever owned. The seamless style and sophistication of the keyboard is a head turner for any visitors and even now several hours later I am still enthralled by it's simplicity of design. I don't want to sound like a mac obsessive but I am and I do love this product. For the skeptics among you I ill say that the keyboard took some getting used to although it is very similar to the keyboard featured on the past few generation of MacBook, except for the addition of the full range of keys one expects from a desktop keyboard. Once you get used to it though it is a dream to use. I shan't be buying another keyboard for a very long time.

I´m new Mac Mini user after Microsoft. I must say Apple Keyboard fulfilled my expectations. User friendly, I´m able to type faster than I did with Microsoft Finger Print or Ergonomic keyboard. Apple keyboard has useful functions for me: fast keys for iTunes listening, Mac key functions, gadgets, speakers volumes and muting and many more. Function which I can make with mouse also. But more important is that with this new keyboard typing is a pleasure. I recommend to buy keyboard with numeric pad.

Alluminium Slimline Apple Keyboard

I have been looking for a keyboard like this ever since I found I liked the low profile keys on laptops. The extra spacing between keys also means that I don't slip onto keys either side. Trouble was, I use a Windows XP machine and never thought this keyboard would work. Well, it does, and there are several programmes available that will allow you to reprogramme keys if you wish. Oddities like the @ symbol not being on the 2 button is no great distraction, it is found on the ' button second left to the enter key, same place as you find on windows keyboards. If Apple supply one of these as a windows replacement, and even better, their wireless version as well, it would make other keyboards obsolete for us two fingered typists. I just have to give it 5*'s.

This keyboard go's fantasic with an old eMac.

I have an old eMac, that I still use to store data on for work. The old original eMac keyboard were just 'craap'. lol. I guess you need a new apple keyboard to go with the apple computer. so I chose this keyboard and it doe look much better than the other one. and its fantasic having 2 USB ports instead of having just one. and the ones with the numerous keyboard sides are great because the original eMac keyboards had the numerous sides and the computer has programmed the keys already, and I can't be arsed to do all that craap again. lol. Thanks

Why that layout

Ok so it's a nice keyboard and it Works well BUT why do Apple think everyone uses an American keyboard layout! All they have done is change the hash key to a pound sign. What if I want a Hash???? Why not stick to the correct English British keyboard layout! I don't want the @ symbol there the " should be and I don't want the \ on the wrong side of the keyboard. They have put the touch typing marks on the J and F keys but an English touch typist will have problems because the other keys are in the wrong place.
APPLE PLEASE GIVE ENGLISH PEOPLE AN ENGLISH KEYBOARD NOT AN AMERICAN ONE!!!!

Absolutely fab BUT

Until yesterday I was using my very old blue Apple keyboard. Everyone in the house knew when I was at the computer - you could hear the clicking. This is silent and quite gorgeous to look at. Keys pressure is taking a little time to get used.

BUT it has to go back. The letter T and the space bar need to be thumped - which makes touch typing a bit difficult. Hence only 4 stars

The original IBM keyboards are still unequalled in my opinion. The keyboard that came with my Mac Pro is far more stylish, but far less pleasant to actually type with! Please Apple, can't you commission Unicomp or someone to make a new version with a USB connection, Apple specific keys, and maybe even the fancy aluminium fascia, but retaining the original reliable contactless clicking keys for those of us who don't regard the keyboard as an afterthought and are willing to pay extra for some real quality rather than an elegant but ultimately rather useless appendage.

One word... Marvelous

If you set aside the fact that it has a lower profile that the normal PC keyboard, or even an older Mac keyboard, you find it a pleasure to type on. Each touch is crisp, and responsive.

It takes a bit of getting used to of course, as do all changes, but you eventually get used to it. The main change I felt was the hardest to get used to was the smaller "return" key, which I am used to being larger.

Aside from these minor points, I am extremely pleased with this product, and hope to use it for a great many years to come. Unless, of course, Apple bring out a better keyboard. Although, how it could be better I can't imagine.

Thanks Apple, for another amazing product!

Looks nice but I don't like the feel

I was bought one of these keyboards at work, and although it looks very nice and it's nice that it has USB ports (unlike most non-Apple keyboards) I found typing on it very unpleasant. This is mainly due to the keys having very little travel, but I think that the fact that the keys are flat (not slightly recessed like the ones on most other keyboards) didn't help. I wouldn't recommend buying one without trying it first; if you don't like it you might want to buy the previous model of Apple keyboard (A1048) instead second hand - I have one of these at home and find it much more pleasant to type on.

Thin slice of aluminium, which is so beautiful I couldn't start using it for the purpose it was made. Eventually I attached this to my MB and... Oh, God! I can't take my hands off! It's fantastic! I never wrote new txts so fast, confident, strainless. It's so flat, but sure with the keys! Pure pleasure. I'm gonna carry it everywhere together with MB. It's (i guess) 0.5kg of beauty and comfort. Gorgeous looking and made for typing.

Good if you have Fine Motor Difficulties

I got this keyboard with my new iMac and use it with a word prediction program due to me having difficulties with my co-ordination.

I find it easier to type on than my PC keyboard where I was constantly hitting two keys together. As there is a space between each key (around 3mm) and the flatter wider key I find it easier to hit an individual key with more accuracy without needing a keyguard on it too.

I would recommend it to others.

I just happened to be using my brother's rather ancient Mac with his new keyboard and it stood out just how much better his keyboard was - more reliable, less noisy, smoother action - than the original keyboard of my more modern machine that misses 1 out of every 100 or less key presses of mine. I think the difference in behaviour has to be quite marked for it to stand out like that.
To type this review I've had to go back and insert missing letters several times.
So that's why I'm here - buying a new keyboard like his! I think it will suit my typing style a lot better than the one I'm using right now.

I've had this keyboard for a few months now and it's brilliant, easy to find the keys and quiet. The style is so much better than the old, which looks dated now.

Excellent keyboard

I bought this keyboard a month ago to use with my macbook while its hooked up to my TV. I love it. The spacing is similar to the macbook keyboard and transferring between the two is easy. I actually prefer it to the wireless keyboard which a friend has, purely because it's a bit more substantial. It looks beautiful on my desk and is wonderful to type on. It feels responsive and it's ergonomically sound.

The new Apple keyboard looks very nice - however, if you want to use it to type then forget it - it is ergonomically flawed. Forget this one - it's pretty useless.

No Problemo with 10.4.11!

I use this keyboard on my old G4 running 10.4.11 and I have not noticed anything wrong with it, all functions ok. Download the keyboard software update 1.2 dmg if necessary. If you "lost" some keys, just check the keyboard viewer button in the inpout menu of the international pref pane, and you'll discover that to get the £ (yes, this one!) you just have to press shift-3... Otherwise great built quality, superb looks and really nice feeling under the fingers... I better stop...

Fantastic product with £ key!

This keyboard it just fantastic. It is beautifully designed and MUCH better than my old white heavy 'clacky' keyboard. Typing is now a pleasure rather than a chore. Delivery was super fast.

Contrary to other reviews I can confirm that my keyboard does have a '£' key. However, make sure you order the United Kingdom version and not the International English version. There's a drop down list on the right hand side of the page where you can make your choice.
