Superb headphones. High Quality, separation, clarity, taut bass, detailed treble. Excellent and well worth the money. Mic works well on iPhone 2G and 3G models.
Innovative case and ear plug holder.
5 Stars because they beat all the earphones at this price level and some above.375 of 463 people found this useful

Apple are the "Shure" thing
Written by AK from Rotherham

Managed to pick up a pair of these 2nd hand (but unused)for £25. Was curious seeing so many conflicting reviews.
Coming from using Shure SE530's with my Nano 16GB 4th gen, I wasn't expecting much.
To my suprise they are fantastic!! The Shure's are slightly better in every department but not by a huge margin and considering the Shures are 4x more expensive the Apple's are a bargain. Nearly as clear as the Shures with nice balanced bass and just as comfy.
Those saying there poor must not be getting a seal.
So pleased with these I'm tempted to sell my Shures now & get some cash back.84 of 100 people found this useful

WOW!!!

Compared to the previous Apple in-ear headphones these are much improved.
The sound is much better quality and they don't struggle as you turn the volume up.
They also sit very comfortably in your ear and these actually stay in your ear unlike the old ones which kept falling out, plus the actual quality of the product is amazing.
I'd defiantly recommend these to others...59 of 70 people found this useful

Staggeringly good!

Finally got mine today. They are absolutely phenomenal!
The best quality sound I've ever heard from headphones (they have better frequency response than nearly all the high-end alternatives).
Also excellent build quality with metal(!!) casings on the earphones themselves.
Packed with an excellent case (+ a stylish case for the size adaptors), all in all they're all I'd ever want from headphones. Oh yeah - the remote/mic words perfectly too.
If you want to get some excellent quality, excellent value (cheapest dual-driver headphones I've found) then look no further!49 of 56 people found this useful

I had the old Apple in-ear headphones, but they kept falling out my ears. Since getting my iPhone 3G, I just used the headphones that came with it. I recently purchased these new in-ear headphones and I am most impressed. They work well with the iPhone (only the volume buttons don't work, but the mic and centre button works like the standard iPhone headphones). The quality of sound is excellent! Definitely worth the money. I was informed by an employee in the Apple Store that an update will be coming soon to enable the volume buttons. Let's hope it is soon!

Love them!
Written by JW from South Molton

I bought these headphones because my old headphones were on the way out, and i had heard good things about these ones. So i went out today and bought some and was a first a but unhappy because there was not much bass. That was when i discovered the other headphone silicon tips which made a massive difference! One feature of the headphones i love is that when you turn the volume up it doesn't become distorted and un-comfortable to listen to, it becomes a enjoyable experience. Compared to my older Senhiser headphones which had way to much bass they are 1, cheaper 2, sound some much better and feel so much more robust. It is true you really can hear things that you have never heard before!

Impressed so far...

Having read a few reviews, I discovered Apple's compatibility description was rather inaccurate.
The headphones, microphone, play/pause button, next/previous track clicks also work with my iPhone. As Mentioned, the only thing that doesn't work are the volume buttons, which doesn't really bother me as the iPhone has it's nice outer volume control that I can easily press whilst it's still in my pocket.
My initial impression of the headphones was quite a worried "oh my god, these are awful". I then realised I had pushed them slightly too far into my ears, which kills both the trebles and the bass. After realising and putting the headphones in correctly, the sound is brilliant! I keep hearing things in songs that I hadn't really noticed before. I listen to mostly Rock as well as Drum and Bass and some Pop, and it all sounds amazing. I use the Rock EQ on my iPhone.33 of 36 people found this useful

Superb headphones! Excellent detail and sense of space around the sound. Natural base response and good high end. Only had them one day but very easy on the ears. Best headphones that I have heard yet. Just hope that they have longevity that matches quality.

Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
Better than expected
Written by LS from Downend
26-Aug-2009
I bought these after my Sennheiser buds snapped and I wanted some buds that didn't have an asymmetrical cable.
The guy in the apple store told me that the smallest silicon heads work the best, but upon testing I found that the smaller ones didn't quite 'grip' properly and thus didn't reproduce the bass - hence why some reviewers here have noted that you can only hear bass by ramming the phones deep into your ear. If you swop for larger heads the phones will grip properly and bass will sound brilliant.
Remote works brilliantly and these are the only headphones I've used where the mic is light enough to not pull down on the buds. With my 3Gs the voice control is good and people can hear me more clearly than they could with the Sennheisers.
I tested out the other problem that some reviewers have found that 'flicking' the cable causes resonation in the ear. It will. So don't flick it! I have my cables tucked into my tshirt and as such nothing will hit them. If you insist on wearing them on the outside of clothing then these may not work best for you.
On a sports side, these phones do not even wriggle out of my ears. You often find that with some in-ear buds you can hear your jaw and pulse etc when the music is quiet. I found these buds didn't do this at all, only once but I had the bud in at an odd angle.
Really good sound, I listen to a range of music and metal sounds just as good as hip-hop. Dance music sounds good with tinny hi-hats and basslines reproducing brilliantly.
Recommended upgrade if you find the iPhone's supplied buds fall out of your ears.22 of 29 people found this useful

Excellent - please read this!

Just bought these from the Apple Store in Southampton. I decided to go for it anyway regardless of the reviews here.
Firstly, the sound quality is excellent, including the bass. I have bass boost selected on my iPhone and the headphones can handle it superbly. I have compared these with my favourite Shures and the original iPhone earbuds and these win hands down for this price. They filter out background noise very well allowing you to keep the volume turned down by about 30% compared to the original earbuds to achieve a similar volume. Yes you do get cable noise but then you get that with all in-ear phones.
All remote controls work perfectly for the iPhone 3 GS. Buy these - I'm sure you won't regret it!17 of 19 people found this useful

Got these from the Bristol store today. Initial impressions are good. The fit is perfect for my ears and the passive sound isolation is amongst the best I have tried. Sound quality is also impressive - not overly bassey and a good clear midrange. The triangular case is a bonus too. I'd recommend.

Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
very good set
Written by PV from London

Don't be put off by comments about bass frequencies. it's not true, it's just the fact that the most of the people are used to cheap headphones which as we all know have beefed up bottom and bit on top. In-ears on the other hand are quite flat with very sweet mids and highs.
In fact, bass goes very deep, deeper than on Senn's MM50ip, is very accurate and detailed so if your recording has huge amount of bass frequencies in it, in-ears will reproduce them, if they're not there they simply won't 'add' them as cheaper alternatives do (and not only cheaper alternatives but quite a few of more expensive ones).
Will see how they perform after few weeks, after they burn-in. So far i'm quite impressed, didn't expect them to be as good.17 of 20 people found this useful

Don't waste your money...

...on any other earphones! These are simply the best earphones I have ever had! The clarity is simply awesome and the reproduction of recordings is out of this world. Acoustic guitars sound full and toneful. Electric guitars sound like they are in the room with you! The bass is great, not overpowering as in most other earphones. People seem to be complaining about how un-bassy these earphones are, but they're not. I think, provided the earphones are in correctly, that these earphones provide a much more faithful reproduction of what the producers, engineers and musicians recorded and put on disc. Tiny sounds I'd never noticed are coming out and can now be heard. To me the difference is as great as the difference between DVD and Blu-Ray. Hi-Definition music! Phenomenal!

Just Right!
Written by LC from Runcorn

I purchased these headphones from the Apple Store in Liverpool today and i have spent an hour with them, to find that they are simply just right! I have read many reviews where people were complaining of a 'lack of bass', well i don't agree, these headphones have the right amount of high, low and mid range. In this day and age i can see why many people want more bass from their headphones as a lot of music nowadays is bass-driven, but i think Apple have done well.
They look great, sound great and even the price is great

Simply fantastic
Written by AC from London

I've had these for two months now and I can't really find a fault, except maybe the remote when trying to go back a track triple quick clicks of the centre button are easier said than done, other than that can't fault them,
They're incredabily tough something apple earphones aren't known for, but these have taken a dunking in mint sauce and work perfectly fine! The mesh caps do an amazing job of safe guarding the insides.
As for sound quality well let's just say they do a far greater job than ones I had paid near enough £150 for. And with iTunes plus forking out high quality music these are essential to appreciate your music in all it's glory.
Style wise they look fantastic, the carry case is great and trianglar which prevents those nasty perminant coils you get with circlar carry cases.

In the past, Apple supplied headphones have been very basic and not that good in the sound department. These are a vast improvement. Very good value. Excellent fit and sound (replaces my Shure EC2's). Well done apple!
