Good but not the best...
Written by JH from Købenahvn, Frederiksberg

You know that the sound is brilliant and good isolation for sound out comming.
But the "silicone" things that you put on the top of them, you know, they can fall off very easy, and here comes the problem: YOU CAN'T BUY NEW OF THEM!
It's very bad of Apple to not sell them separately if you loose them, and if you need to clean them, you've got a problem :-(
But worth to buy if you can keep those white things on :-)5 of 6 people found this useful

Good pair of cans for the money
Written by GK from Granville

The headphones are very well balanced. They seems to have nice drivers and at no point to you feel like you are pushing them to their limit. However there is that Apple sound to them. The bass is under stated and is nowhere near the level of FSI ( arguably one of the best ). If you want to listen to bass rich music make sure that you use the bass boost EQ setting. It helps a lot. Actually one thing that I noticed with these headphones is that unlike more expensive ones, these respond very well to EQ settings on the iPhones and iPod. Flat really sounds flat and you don't really want that for most types of music. I guess the bottom line is these are probably not the best headphones for hip-hop and electronic music.
However, mids and highs are near perfect and I have never head headphones in that price range sounding so good.
One big negative is that Apple still does not sell replacement silicone jackets and you will need some sooner or later.8 of 8 people found this useful

Great Headphones!

I purchased these despite the strange reviews. they are brilliant, great sound through all tones, block out alot of ambient noise (great for the train) comfortable as well.
i use these with a iPhone 3g and the only control that doesn't work is the volume, but i kenw this before buying them because I ASKED THE SALESMAN. simple.
there are great, stop moaning. and yes, i do love Apple.7 of 9 people found this useful

Not cheap, but well worth it
Written by SF from Crossnacreevy

Ok, so £59 isn't cheap for a pair of earphones. But chances are if you're looking at this review, you're familiar with Apple products. They're not cheap, but they're exceptionally high quality. These earphones are no different. My previous pair of earphones were Sennheiser CX300s...ok, but not fantastic. These Apple ones are in a different league in terms of build quality, durability, and sound. There's so much power in the bottom end, the mid cuts through and the top sits on top. Everything is crystal clear.
And to make them even better, the mic on them is infinitely better than any of the third-party iPhone earphones out there. The volume and iPod controls are fantastic and easy to use. And they come with a hard case to keep them intact.
Well worth it!12 of 17 people found this useful

Finally Apple make Good Earphones!!
Written by ZH from Chingford

i have just recently bought these headphones and they impressed me A LOT! i have used all headphones out there and for £60 these are really good.
i use Bang & Olufsen's for home use as they are the clearest earphones around and have the widest dynamic range, but when out and about i use the Apple ones. they have very good balance between Bass, Mids and Treble for in ear headphones. which i love.
they are clear yet have a wide dynamic range and have bass. great combo from apple. i hated all apple earphones till now!
very recommended. the other plus is that i can use all the controls for my iPhone 3Gs finally, as the earphones are so much better than the supplied rubbish ones.
but build quality on the actual mic and remote piece could have been slightly better. the plastic bits are not very strong and are slightly moving side to side (minimal though).
other wise WELL DONE APPLE! woooo16 of 20 people found this useful

Love the headphones only prob is tht after a week the grey rubber on the earphones will come off...apart from tht they are perfect as noice cancelling headphones can really enjoy my music in loud places without having the volume to the max and sound is really clear....could do with more bass though.

Mostly Okay
Written by OW from London
28-Jul-2009
I use this headphone with my iPhone 3G. The sound quality is very good, especially after I changed from the default medium earbuds to the large earbuds.
I could have chosen any other product, but because of my affinity for the 'white look' of Apple's headphones, I chose this over other products. My only problem with it is that I'm struggling to understand why it costs £59. I've seen nicer looking and more solidly built headphones for less, so why Apple would charge £59 for this is beyond me. Those alternative headphones also produce sound that's equal to, if not better than this product.
Other than my issue with the price, I think it's a great piece of equipment.3 of 3 people found this useful

Good value...?

I have tried many different types of Headphones over the years and definately prefer the In-ear type. I found the fit of these Headphones to be excellent with good external sound insulation. The performance of any Headphone is of course subjective as is the choice of music played through them ! These Headphones perform brilliantly with great definition and a rich powerful sound, the remote with mic is a real bonus and all functions work well with my iphone 3G-S.

Very Good for the Money
Written by SE from Bishop Auckland

These headphones are amazing, including dual drivers for just £54 is an absolute bargain, and anyone who doesn't think so obviously knows nothing about headphones. You can pay twice as much as that for headphones with single drivers! This is what differentiates the previous apple in-ear headphones which were basically the same as the included iPod ones but with a different ear style.
I use mine with an iPhone 3G and apart from the volume controls, everything else works very well. The in-line remote can be a little tricky at times but I put sound quality over something like that which works well 90% of the time anyway.
If you want bass, these probably aren't the headphones for you, although I noticed they delivered a little more punch when connected to my MacBook as oppose to my iPhone. There's just enough bass to satisfy my ears with the mids and highs delivering some beautiful sound.
These headphones were obviously made for the user who is a little more than a casual music listener, and just want some great sound. If your the sort of person who doesn't understand why these headphones are "expensive" then they're probably not for you.8 of 18 people found this useful

Great Sound but keep em dry
Written by IB from Cullompton

Great headphones, fantastic quality sound (Though no high end base) gave me goose bumps. However the build quality could be better, I wanted to use these when working out but moisture runs into the control capsule and goes crazy, pauses, skips, repeats etc. the choker slide keeps coming out of the track, picky but annoying. After looking at the prices of similar earphones I still reckon there good value. warts and all.

Use with foam tips to get the best sound
Written by AH from Radlett
20-Mar-2009
I bought these to use with an iPhone to replace a pair of Senheiser MM50s which had broken (again, actually the second pair). I also have the Vibe Duos and Ultimate Ears 4vi.
The apple in-ears are actually very good. Good base and bright treble - you will not need to use the EQ!
But, if like me you really cannot stand the rubber tips and all that fiddling to try and get a good fit, get yourself some complyfoam t-140 tips as they make these much more comfortable to put in, wear and make them sound brilliant.
Hope that helps.0 of 1 people found this useful

Very good value

My regular earphones for years have been Shure (SE530 right now) or Etymotic models. They get a lot of use so I wanted a cheaper set to use for running, etc. I don't like the bundled Apple earphones supplied with iPods and my iPhone so I read the reviews of these new ones with some trepidation. iLounge said they were ok, I like the remote control option (volume works with my 4G Nano but not iPhone 3G? Why not?), so took the plunge and have been very pleasantly surprised indeed. They don't have vast amounts of bass output (good) but have a well resolved stereo image and are the most comfortable 'phones I've ever used. Only time will tell whether they're as robust the Shures, but at a fraction of the price they're great. If you use high bit rate AAC encoding or, even better, Apple lossless, you'll really get the benefit of these. Recommended.

You could call them - a bit underpriced
Written by JG from Colchester

I had been used to the standard ear phones which come with the ipod and these in-ear ones are great, a huge difference. Much recommended, even though they are a bit pricey, the only ones which are better are those which are at least double the price.

For those who are hearing "no bass"
Written by JS from Darmstadt
18-Feb-2009
I know the usual retort has been that you need to make sure you have a correct seal in the ear canal, which is true, but that aside I have found that it is possibly a case of more neutral tuning.
Having played a fair range of music on these so far, from Fear Factory to Techno Animal, I believe there is simply no artificially tuned bass going on. Play something with a really heavy low end to it and these can rumble with both depth and clarity.
You can find bassier buds, but they will have been tuned to add that depth where the music perhaps does not really have it. (This is of course opinion.)
If there is a real problem here it might be that there is a fair bit of cable noise, where the vibrations from hitting your clothes is highly audible. This aside, impressive audio.5 of 6 people found this useful

Good product

The problem people are going to have with these ear phones is the open sound with more detail,
I have had many in ear phones from sennheiser to sure and they have been great but as i got an iphone i needed a mic.
The sound is a lot different in the sense that if your into thumping bass u wont like these, the bass only comes in when you turn the volume up to say 75%.
But for a more rounded musical taste these are great, there is so much more detail in the music, things you haven't (or i didn't) notice before.
Its still not possible to adjust the volume on these if you have an iphone 3g which is annoying.
But overall im very happy.1 of 2 people found this useful

Good Effort
Written by MB from Sutton

Bought these the other day and i have to say that they are pretty good. They're not fully compatible with the iphone but hopefully that will be fixed in a future iphone software update. As for people saying that there is no bass, they're just not fitting the ear buds into their ears properly. Push the buds right into the ear and adjust their position till you get more bass. there's load of bass

Good effort!

I am really picky with my headphones having tried Sennheiser (CX300 & 400) Shure (E2c) and VModa (Vibe).
I predominantly listen to dance and trance music, I therefore like quite a bit of bass.
These new Apple earphones have a real clarity of sound, not quite as much bass as the VModas, but if you take time and care to fit them properly using the various earbuds and making sure they are right down inside your ear, they have just enough bass to keep me happy.
Needless to say on my nano (4G) having the remote on the headphone wire makes skipping through tracks and adjusting the volume a breeze.
Would be 5star if it had just a touch more bass.18 of 22 people found this useful
