Compatability
Written by JS from Banbury

The headphones are a comfortable fit and produce excellent sound. But the volume control is not compatible with my iPod Classic 75mb - very disappointing as I only bought it last April.

not too bad!

Seems the reviews on here are from one extreme to another either 1 star or 5 stars, I bought these because i liked the idea of the sound isolation and im pretty impressed with that-however i dont find the sound quailty as good as people make out and it is very average. to some it up they are ok, maybe £54 is a little pricey as you get this sort of sound quailty from cheaper pairs but the sound isolation is brilliant, 3 stars.

Sound great, pointless functionality.
Written by AP from bradford

These headphones are a vast improvement on the original apple headphones. The ambient sound isolation is great and the clarity and definition of the sound produced rivals sets at twice the price.
My only concern is the lack of support for the iPhone. You get all the functions of the original set, hands free etc, so as an upgrade they're fine. Yet there are volume buttons that seem completely erroneous. Why would the work on the second generation iPod touch and not the iPhone 3g..?4 of 7 people found this useful

For those who are hearing "no bass"
Written by JS from Darmstadt
18-Feb-2009
I know the usual retort has been that you need to make sure you have a correct seal in the ear canal, which is true, but that aside I have found that it is possibly a case of more neutral tuning.
Having played a fair range of music on these so far, from Fear Factory to Techno Animal, I believe there is simply no artificially tuned bass going on. Play something with a really heavy low end to it and these can rumble with both depth and clarity.
You can find bassier buds, but they will have been tuned to add that depth where the music perhaps does not really have it. (This is of course opinion.)
If there is a real problem here it might be that there is a fair bit of cable noise, where the vibrations from hitting your clothes is highly audible. This aside, impressive audio.5 of 6 people found this useful

can be noisy when you're in motion
Written by GR from LONDON
16-Feb-2009
Just a note that when I'm walking or moving--basically moving or doing anything that jiggles the headphone wires in any way--I get a lot of echo noise from these. I believe it's from the design of the plugs, as I have other in-ear headphones that don't have this problem. Especially disappointing as these are *very* expensive here in the UK (£55).

Good product
Written by GS from WELWYN GARDEN CITY

The problem people are going to have with these ear phones is the open sound with more detail,
I have had many in ear phones from sennheiser to sure and they have been great but as i got an iphone i needed a mic.
The sound is a lot different in the sense that if your into thumping bass u wont like these, the bass only comes in when you turn the volume up to say 75%.
But for a more rounded musical taste these are great, there is so much more detail in the music, things you haven't (or i didn't) notice before.
Its still not possible to adjust the volume on these if you have an iphone 3g which is annoying.
But overall im very happy.1 of 2 people found this useful

Overated
Written by KC from TONBRIDGE

I bought these last week for my iphone 3G and on leaving the shop i opened the box and fitted them straight away and ...well i am glad i was still near the store. Although the clarity was good there was hardley any bass. I then adjusted my egualiser to the bass booster setting but it was not much better. For £54 i was not impressed so they went straight back. I am now waiting for Bose to launch their new in ear ones with in line mic

Apple In Ear Headphone With Built In Mic
Written by JH from blackpool
14-Feb-2009
I have bought these headphones because it was an Apple product and because they would go great together with my 4th gen ipod nano. I have seen a lot of good reviews about these headphones that they fit in your ears great and the sound quality is very good. They do fit in my ears great by using the medium sized replacement caps and they also isolate the background noise which is great and also something new for the Apple headphones. Although i'm very disapointed in the sound quality as the headphones produce high pitch sound with lack of bass and the vocal is more heard then the instrumenttal in the songs that i listen to. The remote control is handy in situations when i cant get my ipod out of my pocket, which is a great feature that Apple has included.
Overall in my opinion these headphones are the best Apple has produced so far but are overpriced as there are better headphones on market, which would have better sound quality and look's.6 of 6 people found this useful

Great bit of kit but.....
Written by NP from LEIGH-ON-SEA

I bought these lovelies a month ago, they are fantastic and are very nearly the perfect accompaniment to my lovely 3g iPhone.
Now heres the but, for some strange reason the play/pause/call button works a treat but the volume controls dont appear to want to do anything, it doesnt appear to be anything wrong with just mine as there are others in the same boat.
Summary: great sound, fit perfectly (those who say they keep falling out, why not try the larger bud inserts supplied possibly?) but lack full functionality. Was this useful?

Almost convinced
Written by JK from Turku
13-Feb-2009
They fit nicely in my ears. The sound quality was clear and precise, and had enough bass for my liking.
The noise that comes when the cord rubs against my shirt, chin etc. killed these for me. I couldn't consentrate on the music, I was constantly just irritated by the rubbing noise when I moved even a little. And I mainly use the headphones when I'm out walking.
So, good sound quality and fitting, but a poor cable. I read that a fabric wrapped cable wouldn't make such noise.5 of 5 people found this useful

Lousy sound quality

Very disappointed in the sound quality. For this amount of money you would expect much more. The original earphones that came with the iPhone (or iPod) are better and cheaper.

1,2 & 3 Click's & your away!

These are awsome and come with what I would describe as a mini-mouse, in that you click once to stop the music and again to start, click twice to go onto the next trak, and finally click 3 times to go to the previous trak. Really though a lot of thought has gone into these superior headphones.
So Cool !

Using these on an iPod touch, they are brilliant! The sound quality is very balanced with crisp highs and very good clean bass.
I was slightly put off ordering by the negative reviews stating an overall lack of bass, but took the plunge! I must say I am not disappointed they are well worth the money and are an excellent fit, I really must add that I cannot understand the comments regarding problems with bass I would say that that these are a great buy well done Apple another excellent product.2 of 2 people found this useful

Best in-ear phones, and brilliant mic
Written by JG from London
08-Feb-2009
Like all in-ear phones, it's all down to how well the plugs fit your ears really (if good, bass is fine, but if not, not good) - but these fitted mine a treat, and great at masking external noise. Better than previous £100 in-ear jobs, but not as good as £25 bog standard Sony external jobbies. I'd rather have these though (convenience - and they do sound nice)! Most pleasant surprise is the quality of mic. I've just come back from a gig which I recorded on my iPod nano with the mic just hanging out of my pocket , and the quality is amazing. It's not hi-fi, but it's perfectly listenable, and considering it's the size of a tic-tac, it's pretty sensational.

Apple are the "Shure" thing
Written by AK from Rotherham
02-Feb-2009
Managed to pick up a pair of these 2nd hand (but unused)for £25. Was curious seeing so many conflicting reviews.
Coming from using Shure SE530's with my Nano 16GB 4th gen, I wasn't expecting much.
To my suprise they are fantastic!! The Shure's are slightly better in every department but not by a huge margin and considering the Shures are 4x more expensive the Apple's are a bargain. Nearly as clear as the Shures with nice balanced bass and just as comfy.
Those saying there poor must not be getting a seal.
So pleased with these I'm tempted to sell my Shures now & get some cash back.84 of 100 people found this useful

Love them!
Written by JW from South Molton

I bought these headphones because my old headphones were on the way out, and i had heard good things about these ones. So i went out today and bought some and was a first a but unhappy because there was not much bass. That was when i discovered the other headphone silicon tips which made a massive difference! One feature of the headphones i love is that when you turn the volume up it doesn't become distorted and un-comfortable to listen to, it becomes a enjoyable experience. Compared to my older Senhiser headphones which had way to much bass they are 1, cheaper 2, sound some much better and feel so much more robust. It is true you really can hear things that you have never heard before!
