    Poor at best

    Written by MR from London

    01-Jun-2009

The sound quality is awful. I think the standard earphones come closer to real sound than these. I'm so disappointed by my most recent purchase. The Skull Candy headphones I hated so much were better than these. What a pity! On the plus side, these are lightweight and fit very well. The control isn't too heavy and works well. Build Good - Sound Bad!!!!

The worst headphones I've ever used.

    Written by JR from Cheltenham

I purchased these earphones today and after listening to them for the first second I was shocked by just how poor the sound is.
They have a very tinny sound and very little bass, if any at all. I seriously can't describe how poor the audio quality is. I've been using a pair of BOSE in-ear headphones and they are far superior to these. It honestly is worth spending the extra £20 to buy the BOSE ones.
The standard Apple headphones that come with every iPod sound a lot better than these!
I'm very disappointed with these headphones and want my money back!

    Very Good for the Money

Written by SE from Bishop Auckland

These headphones are amazing, including dual drivers for just £54 is an absolute bargain, and anyone who doesn't think so obviously knows nothing about headphones. You can pay twice as much as that for headphones with single drivers! This is what differentiates the previous apple in-ear headphones which were basically the same as the included iPod ones but with a different ear style.

I use mine with an iPhone 3G and apart from the volume controls, everything else works very well. The in-line remote can be a little tricky at times but I put sound quality over something like that which works well 90% of the time anyway.

If you want bass, these probably aren't the headphones for you, although I noticed they delivered a little more punch when connected to my MacBook as oppose to my iPhone. There's just enough bass to satisfy my ears with the mids and highs delivering some beautiful sound.

These headphones were obviously made for the user who is a little more than a casual music listener, and just want some great sound. If your the sort of person who doesn't understand why these headphones are "expensive" then they're probably not for you.

    top earphones at great price!

WOW, really impressed with these head phones.

i brought the last in-ear headphones from apple, but took them back because they were naff, with bad ammounts of bass and didnt stay in my ears.

giving them another chance, because i know apple always deliver in the end! these new ones are amazing, the ammount of noise detail and base means that im hearing parts and instruments in song i didnt even know were there!

compared to all the other in-ear noise cancellation head phones, these come in at one of the cheapest, they come with a stylish hard case and capsul for they buds, which means no tangled up headphone nd no broken wires!

    well made, strongly recomended!

    Excellent headphones

First, good efficiency! It just took 3 days to arrive in front of me. It's the first time I've bought a pair of extra in-ear headphones and I'm generally quite impressed. Excellent bass and clarity. I heard some subtle sounds I haven't noticed before. In addition they look really sexy in the traditional Apple-ish white colour. I'd definitely suggest buying them.

    Good, but...

...It takes a while to get used to putting them in your ears correctly, other than that a grate pair of headphones for the price!

To clarify, the remote doesn't work in any way with the first gen iPod Touch.

    Not worth the money

    Written by DS from London

    30-Apr-2009

I don't really know why Apple chose to discontinue their previous in-ear headphones. Not only were they great value (only £25), but the sound was excellent and they lasted a long time.
I got mugged recently and my ipod was stolen, so after I replaced by ipod, I went to the Apple store to buy some more in-ear headphones. I was absolutely gobsmacked with the price of the new style - over a 50% increase in price for a very substandard product. The remote doesn't work at all well and my earphones kept falling out of my ear, despite them coming with three differenct sizes of rubber surrounds. The sound was tinny compared to the previous models.
I promptly took my headphones back to the Apple store and got a refund. £54 is an absolute joke to pay for a set of in-ear headphones and Apple are ripping us all off.

    8 years in the making!

I purchased these from the Apple store at the Trafford Centre the day they were released. I had never liked the the original apple headphones as they always fell out when you made the slightest movement so I purchased a pair of 'skull candy' headphones for £20.00.

The apple fits well but note that the controls do not work with any ipods other than the current generation. They have fantastic bass but Id hoped they would be a little louder but if you push them into your ear (safely!) they drowned out all the surrounding noise which does the trick!

    A stirling buy!

excellent sound quality top to bottom great for rock songs and handles pretty much everything i could throw at them from my iphone. The remote DOES work with the same functionality as the standard set but the volume does NOT but since the quality and sheer noise that comes from these are so good we can overlook that i think.

Great Sound but keep em dry

    Written by IB from Cullompton

Great headphones, fantastic quality sound (Though no high end base) gave me goose bumps. However the build quality could be better, I wanted to use these when working out but moisture runs into the control capsule and goes crazy, pauses, skips, repeats etc. the choker slide keeps coming out of the track, picky but annoying. After looking at the prices of similar earphones I still reckon there good value. warts and all.

    Better alternatives out there

    Written by NE from Putney

    21-Apr-2009

Having waited for a pair of iPhone compatible earphones, I originally bought the Sennheisers, but returned these after EVERY caller told me they couldn't hear me over the built in microphone. I immediately bought the Apple in-ears when they were released. First, the good points.
    1) Nice neutral sound, good for classical music listening, with a tight mid range and treble
    2) Nice inline mic and control with decent feel (despite the volume buttons not working on the iphone).
    3) Lovely packaging.
    Now the bad
    1) Poor low end bass response compared to other cheaper alternatives
    2) Difficult to get a proper seal, which renders them extremely uncomfortable because you have to push them so far in before the relatively weak bass becomes audible. If you are a dance music fan, avoid these phones.
    3) Don't stay in the ears at all well, so useless for the gym or any activity.
    4) No replacement buds available!! Unbelievable!!
    5) Relatively short cable, so not good for taller people if you carry your phone in your jeans pocket.

All in all reasonable neutral sound output suitable for certain types of music, but very uncomfortable for extended listening. Unfortunately the alternatives with a good inline mic and control are still fairly limited. Waiting for something better from Apple!

These earphones are great. When I bought them, I thought that they were broken as I was so used to the poor sounding music. A few listens now and I know I should have bought them sooner.
My recommendation is to buy them. You will not regret it.

Very good sound quality, bass and treble. They block outside noise and look stylish. Ear-buds are well fitted to prevent slipping out.

Great value for money. A must have!

I must say i was a bit dubious at first after reading the reviews but i got a good deal on a set and thought not. And am i glad i did. They are brilliant. Great full rich sound. A pleasure to listen too.
Shame the volume control doesn't work on the iphone but the sound more than makes up for it.

Awesome! Make up your own mind!

Right... If your like i was and not sure whether you should splash the cash on these then listen to what i've got to say, many people seem to have a one sided view.

In short, i've had these for a week now and i was dubious to both the build and performance quality having read the views but took the plunge and went for them.

In my opinion there great, but are totally different to the standard headphones. They fit snug in the ear and if you want high end bass they do have to be pushed quite far in, and do sound like your wearing ear plugs when your not listening to music, but overall the sound quality is excellent, low, mid, and high range are all excellent.

Build quality so far seems excellent, and if your ears are wet they do work themselves a little loose, but if there for the gym just make sure your ear canals are dry before you start sweating and your fine.

The volume buttons on the mic remote don't work for the iphone or 3g yet, but should be part of the v3.0 firmware.

Mine haven't fallen apart yet, and show no sign of any wear yet, and i've been assured by the apple genius at the store that they come with a year warranty.

My only negative really is that apple at present don't sell replacement buds. But then what is ebay for?

Great Headphones Let Down By Stupid Flaw

    Written by JJ from London

    08-Apr-2009

These headphones are great for the price, good quality and nice having the speaker for the iPhone. BUT...the plastic tips covering the headphones fall off really easily. I lost the small pair which were the best fit and they came off in my pocket so I moved to the medium pair that did the same thing. The wonderful thing is Apple have told me they don't sell replacements pretty much rendering a £55 pair of headphones useless. I even tried a pair of buds from a pair of Sennheiser's but funnily enough they're different sizes. It must cost them a few pence to make them, I'm sure they'd sell them at a mark up which is fine but to not sell them at all is completely inept.

brilliant sound, fabulous features, let down by poor quality

    Written by TL from LIVERPOOL

    06-Apr-2009

+Sound is amazing for the price. Ignore the doubters, they have a fantastic clarity unheard of at this price point. The capsule is brilliant and works great with my classic.
-Quality is TERRIBLE. Falling apart after 4 weeks of light use. Both ears have failed and have needed tweeking. Any moisture renders them useless.
Brave try, but in the end, a failure.

Good sound, but simply not enough bass. I changed to these from a pair half the price and they aren't worth the extra £30. But they are comfy and produce good sound at high volumes. No good for me though.......

I have read many reviews, as you have too I expect. There are objectors. Some are erudite, some are less so. Ignore them all. These are absolutely FAB. Sound quality is very good. They feel fine and the sound is great. They DO NOT fall out of my ears. The mic works perfectly. My iPod touch is now a wireless iPhone. Thank you Skype!
