    Not that special

The sound quality is excellent but only when these earphones are positioned correctly in the ear. I find i have to keep adjusting these as they tend to slide out and are rubbish for any kind of sport. Think they are over priced and uncomfortable!!!

    Mostly Okay

I use this headphone with my iPhone 3G. The sound quality is very good, especially after I changed from the default medium earbuds to the large earbuds.

I could have chosen any other product, but because of my affinity for the 'white look' of Apple's headphones, I chose this over other products. My only problem with it is that I'm struggling to understand why it costs £59. I've seen nicer looking and more solidly built headphones for less, so why Apple would charge £59 for this is beyond me. Those alternative headphones also produce sound that's equal to, if not better than this product.

Other than my issue with the price, I think it's a great piece of equipment.

    Excellent - please read this!

Just bought these from the Apple Store in Southampton. I decided to go for it anyway regardless of the reviews here.

Firstly, the sound quality is excellent, including the bass. I have bass boost selected on my iPhone and the headphones can handle it superbly. I have compared these with my favourite Shures and the original iPhone earbuds and these win hands down for this price. They filter out background noise very well allowing you to keep the volume turned down by about 30% compared to the original earbuds to achieve a similar volume. Yes you do get cable noise but then you get that with all in-ear phones.

All remote controls work perfectly for the iPhone 3 GS. Buy these - I'm sure you won't regret it!

    expensive and unreliable

The volume control on the remote stopped working after 3d day, all other remote control options cease to function after 2nd week. The sound quality of the earphones was good but the microphone quality is definitely bad - people could hardly hear me. For the price of £59 - not worth it

    Simple & Beautiful

After spending hours and days of reading reviews on headsets, I settled on this pair. I am very happy with my purchase. Once plugged in, you cannot hear anything else but the music. The high sound quality allows you to hear every word of the lyrics, and every instrument. I was also inclined to hear more bass and considering to buy higher end headsets, naturally more expensive ones, yet this pair comes with enough bass so as not to give you headaches but delivers clear, nice sounding music. It is for sure that these are way better than the standard Apple headphones, and after comparing it with my Sony MDR - XD100, this one left Sony way behind.

What I wanted was a compatible headset with 3GS with full remote control and on top of it nice sound quality without putting my wallet on fire. If that's what you after, get them without any hesitation.

    Good value...?

I have tried many different types of Headphones over the years and definately prefer the In-ear type. I found the fit of these Headphones to be excellent with good external sound insulation. The performance of any Headphone is of course subjective as is the choice of music played through them ! These Headphones perform brilliantly with great definition and a rich powerful sound, the remote with mic is a real bonus and all functions work well with my iphone 3G-S.
    Great value for money !

    Don't buy these!

The sound quality is poor compared to Sennheiser £15 earbuds. They are also surprisingly uncomfortable and the soft earbud material rubs against the inside of your ears when you walk making an unpleasant grinding noise. Uncharacteristically bad product for Apple. Volume control only works on iPhone 3GS.

    No Bass

    Written by CQ from LONDON

    11-Jul-2009

These are superb headphones in build quality and design.

With a couple of exception. As I walk, the cable naturally swings to and fro. This movement judders up the phones and makes a huge banging noise in the ears.
    So massive minus points there.

Also, I like a decent amount of bass. These may have audiophiles exited but I guess I'm a philistine who loves pumping bass, without having to whack up the EQ and cause distortion. These phones don't deliver, so I went for the Sennheiser. They rock!

    Wanted more for 59 money

Written by JJ from Cheadle Hulme

Thought buying earphones at a price of 59 money I'd expect to get great sound, but Apple In-Ear Headphones fail to deliver that. Earphones of other brands priced at 19 has better sound than these.

Con: In my ears are the bass almost non existent. Sounds like some of those earphones one can buy at Pound Paradise or shops similar. The earphones are not keeping ambient sound out very well.

    Pro: Good spacial sound noted.

None of the 3 ear tips fits my ear - either too small or too big.. Have a cheapo £15 Sennheiser earphones thats miles better than this in fit (only issue being it doesn't have a microphone). The base is extremely poor.. wish I never bought this. Please don't waste your hard earned money on this!

    Sound quality is fine, but...

    Written by MJ from London

I am not convinced and I would suggest that people have a play with them first before shelling out £55. As previous reviewers have indicated, the ear buds can fall off very easily during normal usage - and they have not provided a snug fit for me at all. And, for some reason I cannot work out, the speaker is protected by a metal grill attached to the rest of the headphone as a bolt is attached to a nail (using a thread) - this can slowly loosen itself (agian, during normal use) and fall off, taking the rubber ear bud with it. This has happened to me twice now - in the street as I was talking my Iphone out of my pocket, and, as I couldn't subsequently find them, these were permanently lost rendering the headphones useless (and, yes, I have had to take my first pair back to get a replacement, which is now also useless). Advice given to me at the Genius Bar was to ensure that, when not in use, the headphones are placed in their protective plastic box at all times. All in all this seems unsatisfactory to me and, in my opinion, these headphones are not fit for purpose.

I was hoping to use these for phone calls and music, but compared to Sony's retractable in-ear headphones, the base response is tinny. I wish I'd saved my money!

I'm by no means here to bad mouth products and I (normally) swear by anything Apple do.

But these headphones are rubbish. The bass on them is awful!

I'm taking them back this weekend for my money back.

I'd go as far as to say they sound faulty, but a few people have said the same thing.

I can't listen to Daft Punk or anything without having to turn the song over.

AND the volume doesnt work with my iPhone 3.0.

Sad times for relatively expensive headphones.

    Where's the bass?

They look beautiful, they're packaged beautifully (as you would expect). But. They have no bass?! The standard issue headphones provide a better sound - which came as a total shock - especially when you fork out almost £60! Yes, I know that £60 isn't much compared with many high-quality headphones out there - but for apple to produce such sub-standard??
Sorry Apple - I say avoid.

    Really a bad choice

    Written by AG from PORTSMOUTH

These headphones begin wonderfully. The sound is stunning, it handles all genres exceedingly well tackling bass and trebles both very efficiently. The remote is also a great addition. These are also some of the most comfortable headphones i have ever had and provide an unprecedented seal.

The build quality however, quite frankly is pathetic. I use my iPod every day but i'm careful how i treat it and i never bash it about or anything, however after just 4 months of just bus journey music listening, sound suddenly stopped coming out of the right earphone. The remote and the other earphone worked fine but this defect rendered them unusable, so i took them to an Apple store to have them replaced (which was dealt with swiftly).

I recieved the brand new headphones and they were perfect but now after just under 4 weeks of normal usage sound out of the left headphone is extremely crackly and almost inaudibly quieter than the other earphone. I want to replace with another set however, no headphones not made by Apple come with a remote which is essential to use my new iPod Shuffle (the one without any buttons)

When I'm not using my iPod the headphones stay with it just lying around in a normal room; no moisture or headphone trauma or anything of that kind. I seriously consider Apple making a remote adapter to use with the new Shuffle or any headphone.

    Very disappointing.

    Not worth the money

    Written by JL from Croydon

These headphones are not worth the money. They fall out of your ears constantly and the additional noise of the wire against you means you are required to turn the volume up even louder to aviod it, but is ok if you are still.

The sound quality is poor and there is an obvious lack of bass.

You are better off with the headphones that are included on your Apple product.

    Not worth the money

    These earphones look great.
they come in the standard apple high-quality packaging, and the thing I enjoyed the most about these was unpacking them.

After that, the fun ended. The sound quality was poorer than the standard Iphone earphones, and I tried all sizes of ear-fittings, but none of them seemed to make it up for the poor sound quality.

the earset is great for talk-show podcasts, but if youre looking for something to make your music sound as it should, or just near that, Id skip these.

I bought myself the Sennheiser CX 300-II Precision Headphones, which are cheaper, and at least 75% better sounding. They have no built in mic, but for me thats a cheap giveaway for my music collection to sound better.

    Not too bad

    Written by PW from Peterborough

    13-Jun-2009

I first purchased a pair in March 2009. One month later I took them back as the part which I presume is there to protect the earphone from water (the grey rubber part) came loose and would slide down the wire. My local apple store happily replaced them for me, but it's happened again! I don't think I missuse them in any way for this to happen, so perhaps this os a common fault?
Aside from this, the soundproofing is satisfactory, and the clarity of sound is much better than other headphones of this price range. I have tried the Bose in ear headphones and I think they are far better.
