    Quite Fragile!

I Have Had A IPod Dock (2nd Generation) before and just broke so easily. For anyone who thinks of buying this is wasting their money. I advise you to buy the 3rd or 4th generation as they are much smaller and ARE better :)

Perfect in itself, but why not have a Shuffle for £12 more?!

    • Written by from Wallasey

This is a well-made, nice-looking thing that does exactly what it's supposed to do. If someone drops this on the floor and stands on it then yes, I am afraid it may struggle to pass the 'take a grown man's weight' test.

My only gripe with this product as it appears here is that the price is simply absurd. We all love Apple products but sometimes they just take the biscuit! I bought my iPod Shuffle 2nd generation last week (yes, I want to use my own headphones, call me crazy, so the 3rd generation was a complete non-starter. Not the only reason why the new Shuffle will be outsold by the 2nd generation version for some time to come. I wonder how long it takes to skip through 4GB of music one track at a time...). I bought it for just £31. Does that mean my Shuffle is worth just £12???

I rated it 5 stars because the product itself simply couldn't be improved upon. A line-out would be overkill for a Shuffle dock and making it into a dongle would make it impractical for desktop users. I trust that people will make up their own minds as to whether it is priced appropriately.

    Does the job.

    • Written by from BIRMINGHAM

I still have the original that came with my Shuffle two years ago.

It is reliable, easy to use and plenty sturdy enough for it's job.

I like the rubber base on the bottom and I'd say the wire is just about the right length for what I need. It sits on my desk where I position it without floating around on a frail wire.

Occasionally there are problems when connecting via a USB hub, but on direct connection it's fine, so that is clearly an issue with my cheap hub.

Obviously if you leave it on the floor and stand on it, or don't pack it properly when taking it somewhere, then it could easily break. But you can see that just by looking at it.

Learn to take care of your property and use it as intended and you will not have a problem with this product.

    Brilliant Product!!!

    • Written by from Sunderland

Frankly, I don't know what everyone is moaning for!

Firstly, I have had my dock for over two years now and it is still fine even after many trips abroad and around the country.

And secondly, nobody can realise that every iPod product is covered by the one year product. I'm afraid it's your own fault if you can't be bothered to read the warranty information!!!

    I keep breaking it!

    • Written by from SWANSEA

Expensive for what it is and very very fragile as I have now broken 2, i'll probably make my purchase elsewhere for a cheaper price.

    best gadget

    • Written by from Leicester

Absolutely wonderful bit of kit. Apple could learn from it that a cable (as supplied on the 'genuine' dock) is unnecessary, gets in the way, takes up space etc. Have used this for 18 months and don't bother with the original version any more.

So a shuffle costs €16, does it?

    • Written by from Glenageary

An iPod shuffle costs €45 in Ireland and this replacement dock is €29 - which seems to suggest that the actual music-playing unit is worth €16. This is just nonsense and another rip-off like the hundreds of others we face every day. To those who ask how the docks get broken, do you ever travel? I do, all the time, and that's how it happened. Though I hate to migrate, I'm thinking it's time I switched to Zen; that's the only language Apple will understand when it rips off its customers

    Not Happy

    • Written by from Aylesbury

I bought an shuffle about a month ago and now the dock is not working (the PC is not detecting when it is connected to the doc). Totally not happy with the product (the doc). The worse thing is the replacement cost around £20.

    Fragile!!

I got given an iPod shuffle a couple of months ago. It worked perfectly for 2 weeks. I was walking to my mates and the transfer pin snapped off!! It is very fragile and needs to be designed more strongly!!

    Very very fragile

    • Written by from Dalton-in-Furness

Why is this so fragile? The rigidity of the point where the plug is attached to the plastic dock makes for a very brittle product, one which is massively over priced. I shall be replacing it with a generic product at half the price.

    Mine also broke...

    • Written by from Bourton on the Water

I mean just look at the shape of the design, it's no surprise how fragile it is!
Mine broke whilst packed in my bag travelling. Now I have to fork out MORE money on another of these useless docks. Apple should supply a simple connector, which doesn't break so easily. If not they should be selling these for under £10 seeing how many people seem to break theirs. I agree that paying £30 for a new shuffle is better value for money than buying this for £20. Very dissapointing.

    Very, very fragile!

    • Written by from Helsinki

The design is way too fragile - Apple should provide a basic cable connecting the iPod shuffle (2g) to a computer and sell a dock as extra, though I have NO idea why anyone on earth would want such a fragile dock.

    What are you people doing?!!

    • Written by from Rugby

I just wanted to balance the negative reviews by saying that I love my shuffle and have had no problems at all with the dock. I have no idea what all you guys have been doing with them (unless mine is a later, more robust model) but I have found it easy to use and reliable. Just be sensible - this is not a piece of indestructible lego and shouldn't be treated as such.

I'm sorry people but I've got absolutely no problems with mine. It's absolutely fine. No idea why everyone's complaining. Even tried breaking it so i had an excuse for myself to buy one of those little tiny docks!

So I think I can see a theme emerging here.

Oh and for what it's worth, mine's broken too. I don't even know how but the jack has snapped.
