    Reasonably pleased

Considering a new battery for my 2 year old Black macbook. Battery lasts just over an hour full charged but sometimes I loose power completely before being warned of a low battery and can loose work. Very annoying. Here are the stats on my battery:

    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 2818
    Fully charged: Yes
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 2818
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 361
    Condition: Good

My understanding is that I'm getting about half the capacity of the new battery and it's reaching it's expected end of life.

Battery Problems - Cheaper In Store on High Street

I've had my MacBook for 2 years and the battery died after 350 cycles (which is about average) although there are ways in which will help your battery stay heathly. Go to Apple.com and search battery and there are ways to look after and maximise the life of your battery.

Despite being a bit disappointed to be told the battery I had wasn't one of the faulty one's I was shown that it had reached the end of it's life.

Anyway cutting a long story short Apple took my old battery and sold me a new one for just over £63 which I thought wasn't too bad!

    A useful review?

The battery I am now coming to replace is from a Late 2006 2.0 GHz model MacBook. Unlike others, my battery is still recognised, but when the power adapter is removed, the MB dies within a second or so. The battery lasted for a cycle count of 463. My understanding from Apple is that the average life expectancy is up to 300 charges with 80% performance retention, so the existing battery has given good service. I did not apply Battery Update 1.2. Incidentally, the battery has been in service for around 22 months, but as an indicator of the service life, this really is negligible. What I would urge others to do in forthcoming reviews, is give the cycle count. Even the student price, £91.25 seems hard to defend, but looking at OEM batteries for other manufacturer's laptops, it seems to be in line with the market.
