I bought this a couple of days ago (with a little hesitation about the price) but as I had just received an ipod video for my birthday I wanted to protect it. There are lots of third party cases on the market but other than the 'socks' this is the only case Apple has made for the new video ipod. Given Apple's reputation for style I decided to buy it and I have not been disappointed, it is a perfect fit and the ribbon to pull the ipod out works really smoothly. Obviously to charge it up it has to be removed from the case and therefore you can't avoid getting finger prints all over it, but these can easily be cleaned off with a cloth used for cleaning glasses.
I bought the 'Agent 18' case for my son's video ipod after reading endless reviews and although it is a good case, it has got scratched and you can't avoid dust getting inside it. Also the click wheel has received a few scratches because it is unprotected.

If you can afford this case then It is definetly worth buying, the leather is beautiful and it is a very stylish and smart case.

Another example of Apple inflating the price of iPod accessories

    Written by BG from Ashford

I bought this case as it is the only "official" Apple case for the 5th gen iPods. As you would expect from Apple the quality is very good. Stitching on the case is flawless, the leather is good quality, as is the very soft lining on the inside. The ribbon provides a simple but effective way to remove the iPod without covering it in fingerprints. I have noticed no scratches on the iPod having used the case for 2 days. Very snug fit for my 30GB, no issues with overheating.

This product is significantly over priced, hence not 5 stars. Worth the money for the 60GB, but certainly not for a Nano. Apple have a real nerve for pricing the two sizes the same.

The case is very stylish with good quality leather being used in it's construction but...........WAY, WAY, WAY too expensive for what it is! You can buy a nice pair of Italian shoes for similair money. I would say 'buy it' if it was only a third of it's price, sorry!

I just purchased this item, as it is the only case by Apple for the Video ipods. It is a lovely product, screams quality but its way too over priced (£40.00 would have been fair) Apple as a company are getting too corky and greedy for their own good.
Apple, I strongly suggest you get your act together before you start losing your customers.

    Style over substance?

Like most things designed/built by Apple, this product is beautiful to look at/use, the zenith of minimalist aesthetics, but well well overpriced. Before you take the plunge ask yourself one question; if they took off the logo would you still be willing to pay the asking price?

    A luxury item

I recently bought one of these for my new iPod and must say that I'm extremely happy with it. I've previously bought three different cases and two of them actually scratched my old iPod! Others complain that you can't get to the controls or view the screen when it's in the case - but why dress your iPod up like an astronaut in a case that looks like a recycled trainer- it's a tactile thing and fingers won't hurt it! Ok - this case is crazily overpriced but the leather is top quality and I imagine Jonathan Ive enjoyed matching it to the upholstery of his Aston Martin!

I have had a couple of cases before taking the plunge with this one...I am so glad I did.

It fits like a glove and keeps your pod snug and secure.

It hasn't got a viewing/clickwheel opening, so what! This is pure styling and protection in one lightweight, discrete cover.

A must for any discerning Ipod owner...

    Apple Leather 30gb Case

    Written by LH from Birkenhead

    09-Sep-2006

I have to say well done to apple this is a superb case, excellent quality throughout. It fits the 30gb ipod perfectly and the ribbon is a great feature eneabling you to access your ipod with ease.

The only gripe i have is the fact that to be able to use the apple fm radio remote you have to put the ipod in upside down which is abit of a nuisance. A hole in the bottom would be good for any accessories which have the dock connector.

The price is also very steep just for a case. I feel it should be around the £40 to make it more accessible to everyone's budget.

Which is why i have given it 4 stars. An excellent product all round that oozes quality.

    Fantastically Good Case

I bought this case, as so many others have done, as it's the only "genuine" case for the 5th Generation iPod. The iPod fits perfectly within, is very well protected and has meant I've still got a new-looking iPod 7 months on! If it was cheaper I'd have given it 5 stars but it's arguably good value because it does EXACTLY what it's designed to do. The leather still looks great, too! Would heartily recommend to anyone with a 5th Generation iPod.

I cannot disagree that this is a lovely case and perfectly designed for the ipod with a good deal of practicality, spiced up with a dash of style... however, as with the majority of Apple's products is is vastly overpriced for what you receive. Not everyone has the expendable budget of a multi-millionaire, and asking well over £50 for what in essence is just a case, seems more than a little insulting.

    Quality at a heavy Price

    Written by JR

    15-Nov-2006

I have the 30 GB iPod case and i think it looks superb and would have recieved 5 stars had it been priced at around £30 - £45. For this reason I don't understand why it is priced so high and I think apple have lost a lot of sales due to the price of it.

However it is a high quality case.

Overall the price is too mucha and unless you have got money to burn then don't buy it!

It's a slip case, that's all it does. It doesn't add features, or offer that much protection. Spend £40 on upgrading your iPod in your basket to the next model up and grab a cheaper case for it, it's a better investment than this.

it is a very nice case. bought it after my old 30GB video got destroyed to the point that i couldn't watch videos because of scratches. decided to protect my 80gb.

however the apple store is ridiculously overpriced. you can get this same case (genuine) on ebay for £30 and the £20 isocks cost about £5. avoid this store

I bought my 30gb ipod in Argos and had reserved the case too. However, as I was entering my pin number into the debit card machine I actually paused and thought.. "What am I doing spending this much on a case????". As there was a queue building up behind me I went ahead and bought it thinking that I could return it as it's from Argos. But you know what? I absolutely love it! How smug will you feel when you get your shiny new ipod out of this luxurious case and people say "Wow!"- then they want one and ask for details ..."Where did you get that?", "How much was it?", and you know that they will end up with a case from Currys (not that I am slating cases from Currys-I used to have one for my Nano!).The very large price just makes it worth the price-if you get me?! You become part of an elite group of very fortunate and classy music lovers!

It's a great looker, protects the iPod and barely adds any size to it.

sure, some might mock the price, and i'd prefer it to be say, £50, but I can get over it considering i'm getting a lot of use out of it.

Don't buy this if you're not into buying top quality expensive products. However, if like me you like the best and don't mind paying extra for it then this is definitely for you. It looks great, and offers fantastic protection for your iPod. Mine is as pristine as the day I bought it, with not a single mark on the highly polished back. This is due entirely to this case. However, what I like best about it is that there are no cheap looking 'windows' on it, which typically mean operating your iPod while it stays within the case. What's the point of keeping a beautiful iPod locked away in a cheap case? With this case you have to get the iPod out to operate it, giving you the opportunity to enjoy it's form and beauty every time.
