    Very Disappointing

For a product that is otherwise fantastic, its hard to understand why they would continue with this (obvious) battery issue. The very least expected would be a replacement for free. My laptop has now become a desktop, as I can't leave the power source. I refuse to keep buying very expensive batteries that are obviously faulty.
I will not be buying another MacBook until this problem is sorted out.
I usually wax lyrical about anything Mac - but this is just ridiculous!

Have to agree - this is awful

I have to agree with the vast majority here - the performance of this battery stinks. I have a 15" MBP that is almost impossible to do anything with if I'm not on an AC socket. Full charge gives me a whopping 7 minutes of use and no warnings of shutdown. The price for a new battery is also WAY TOO HIGH. As a life-long Apple user I am distinctly unimpresed

I've had my 15' Macbook Pro for 4 months now and am now on my second battery after the first one ceased working altogether on 100% charge. The replacement battery began its life at 98% capacity, and after 4 charge cycles, (one of which was calibration) its capacity has now dropped to 96% and has dropped more every time I look. I have real concerns over these batteries...

    Replacement battery

Bought a full priced battery for macbook pro 1year 1month ago, completely dead.
Apple shop checked it out and said yes it was no good. Only done 82 cycles, only ever used as recommended by Apple. Verdict - you have to purchase another one. I expect a battery costing £101.00 to last longer than this, my car battery has and this gets a lot more abuse and costs less. Is this just another Apple rip off.

Very poor battery ... specially compared to the quality of the Mac PRO

I have had my Macbook Pro since 2006 and the first battery was good for a year, then I did not have a need for it for a while but when I did, I was surprised to be asked for CHf 199 (apx. £ 135) when buying it in Switzerland where I am for work.
Money robbed really ... my new battery lasted for a year then begun giving me problems until now, not even 2 years after purchase, when it shuts my laptop down showing 90% charge, without a warning.
Apple should do something about this fast ... lower the prices for a battery to start with !!!!

In common with 95% of other reviewers, I have found this battery to be an unmitigated waste of money. It has lasted 7 months. I was fully aware of how bad this battery was supposed to be, but having tried to find an alternative (I did - the fit was so poor it lifted the MacBook Pro up by half an inch), I bought it anyway as I had no choice. It's total - TOTAL - ****. Perhaps Apple might consider thinking of getting an alternative supplier, please. Please?

OK its 2 years since I got my 15" MBP, and my battery has now started to reduce in life from the initial 4 hrs to 2 hrs after charge, dropping down to 1hr half on use.
Not bad when all considered but a replacement price of £100 is always a bit stiff.

I bought my Mac Book Pro in Aug 06. Unfortunately it arrived with a faulty battery and CD drive which both failed after 4 months or so.

I got a replacement battery but this is also failing now, so not sure sure if 3 years is a good time for laptop battery. I dont use it that much. Also the charger lead burns out after 3 years.

Cost to replace: battery €139 and lead €89. Not great

I would complain that I've only had my mac book pro for a year before the battery completely died, but it looks like I've been lucky if the other reviews are anything to go by. I'm very surprised by the fact that I spent £1600 on a laptop that ships with such a poor quality vital component. I had my old Toshiba for 4 years without any battery issues; now I suppose I have to shell out to the Mac Monopoly for another (short life) battery. Very poor!!

    Battery Losing Power

    • Written by from LONDON

I am in my first year of Apple Care, my 15'' MacBook Pro is 2 years old. Battery shows 50% health after 248 cycles, losing life rapidly. I phoned Apple today, they did some tests with me over the phone and are sending me a new one, which I obviously don't have to pay for. Simple.

Same unacceptable experience as other reviewers

My MacBook is about 15 months old and recently cuts of all power with no warning (losing unsaved work) after less than an hour. Apple should still be remedying the fact that such a dire fault is happening to so many of this model - it's not as if the battery's 3 years old and many are complaining it's happening after a few months of use!

    Apple - act now!

I've had my MacBook Pro since February 2007, making it exactly a year old. Over the last two weeks the battery capacity has steadily declined, and I now get an hour of charge at the most. I took it to the Lakeside Apple Store, where I discovered the warranty ran out yesterday. The Genius I dealt with was kind enough to replace it for free anyway. Way to go Apple, I'm impressed with your customer service...just a shame the batteries aren't up to the same standard as the rest of the hardware.

    760+ cycles later!!

After 4 years of having my MacBook Pro my battery has finally died! When I first got the MacBook the life of the battery was very very good but towards the end of it's life it got worse and worse but wouldn't expect anything else. Took my MacBook to the new apple store in Basingstoke, Hampshire and got it checked out, I was told the batteries usually last for about 300 cycles and I was told I had done over 760 cycles!!! The only problem with product is the price.
