    A 2" cable??? Don't make me laugh.

    Written by RC from Leeds

    14-Apr-2006

This product wouldd be fine, if it weren't for the ridiculously short cable that forces you to buy an additional VGA lead to use it with. You are therefore far better off simply buying a non-Apple cable with converter from any store that sells computer components instead.

Ensure you know what you're buying!

    Written by CP from Reading

    19-Apr-2006

Beware of what you're buying, people. This cable is specifically for the computers that are listed in the review, and is intended to take you from Apple's proprietry mini-DVI connector (such as the one featured on the 12" Powerbook G4) to normal VGA.
This is not, as mentioned by a previous reviewer, simply a VGA extension cord. You plug this into your computer, then the long cable that comes out of your monitor plugs into this.
Apple need to make extra cable-buying easier in the Apple Store, especially as each of their computers need different cables...

    Does the job

    Written by SC from WISBECH

    07-Sep-2006

Not sure what the complaining reviewer means by a 2" cable, mine is 3" (over 5" inc plug/socket). Also, don't see the need for this to be longer as presumably the additional monitor would come with its own VGA lead? Good value, well made and, just simply, it does the job perfectly. Only gripe with the setup is that only mirroring is supported. Surely the main point of an additional monitor is to have more screen real estate (e.g. Photoshop palettes)? Easy to overcome though; just install "Screen Spanning Doctor" and you can set up the monitors as an extended desktop.

    Does the job

    Written by NC from BURNTISLAND

I bought this cable to connect my iMac and MacBook to my LCD TV (as it doesn't have a DVI port) and it does the job perfectly - detects display type and resolutions quickly.

You need a seperate VGA cable to make this work too - it merely changes the mini DVI port on your Mac into a VGA port.

    THIS IS A CONVERTER

    Written by LS from London

    09-Oct-2006

The reviewer who gave 1 star because the cable is only 2" is a complete fool. This is a converter, it doesnt need to be even 2" long. I'm amazed apple even made it this long!! When you want to connect an external monitor to your machine you should plug it direct into the miniDvi port, if the monitor you are connecting does not have a miniDvi connector then you would use this converter to change your vga cable into a miniDvi allowing you to connect it to your machine.

(Annoyed as to how many reviewers talk utter rubbish!!)

I bought this adapter, pluged in my second screen, and it worked straight away. No messing around. No hassles. Easy to set up. So easy, my granny could do it! What more could you ask for!?

I also have to voice my opion on the idiots who think the cable is too short!? I think they're misssing the point that its an 'ADAPTER" as it clearly says in the product description. Don't forget people... the second monitor you want to plug into your Mac, COMES WITH IT'S OWN CABLE!!

    Absolutely Excellent

    Written by JT from Rugby

I bought this adapter for my vga monitor to plug it into my 13 inch macbook. Although it took 3 days to arrive it was really easy to set up. I plugged my vga cable into my dell monitor and plugged the other end into this adapter. Plugged the adapter into my macbook and it worked straight away, I didn't even have to detect it. Worked straight away!!! Excellent. I highly recommend this cable.

    MacBook to Sony Bravia

    Written by PB from Headcorn

    30-Aug-2007

The design is excellent; Apple have added a short cable to allow for movement and stress rather than create a solid adapter that would put pressure on the Mini DVI port. I have used this adapter to successfully connect my MacBook to my high definition Sony Bravia, (Using the Belkin Pure AV Cable available from Amazon).
