Do none of you people know what bass is?

    • Written by from Glasgow

I read a lot of reviews saying that these had good bass but was so disappointed when I first listened to them I took them back as I thought they were faulty and had them replaced. On my second pair and nope: weak, weak bass.

Thought maybe I was just spoiled for bass (I use V-Moda M100s when I'm at work and wanted the Bluebuds for running), but even compared to my £30 pair of Sennheiser CX-180s some of the lower and more ambient sounds from various tracks simply weren't audible. In fact, I got a deeper bass drum sound when listening to them on an old £10 pair of earphones I had kicking about the flat.

To be fair, these headphones aren't bad for people that don't like bass - they have an excellent midrange, but I got these for running and who cares about midrange when you're running?

In addition, they are fiddly to set up and seriously overpriced at £150. I'll be taking these back tomorrow and expect to find a better pair of running headphones for less than half the price.

    Superb sans mic

    • Written by from Luton

I don’t leave the house without these headphones. Use them mainly for my commutes to work and it’s just a delight.
Sound quality is great, the fits good. Battery life is decent (even when you accidentally leave them on in your pocket all day).
Connectivity is straightforward. They barely leak, so you don’t have to worry about being ’that guy’ during public useage.

Only thing - They should of scrapped the microphone functionally altogether as the quality of calls through the BlueBuds is abysmal.

But everything else is top notch.

Good sound but definitely not sweat proof,

    • Written by from Cardiff

I recently bought a pair of these for training as they claim to be sweat proof. They aren't the first pair lasted about a month before they broke. The staff in the apple store were very helpful and replaced them with no fuss.

The second pair then lasted about 5 weeks before they also stopped working. I took these back to apple and got a refund.

If you want a pair of wireless headphones for training and you sweat a lot don't buy these they won't last and at £149.95 they are also a bit on the expensive side. Also I found that they don't staying very well.

Although I must say that the staff in the apple store were very helpful and understanding on both occasions the I went in.

<5% distortion and 20-20k hz bandwith make these buds low sound quality

    • Written by from Randers nv

They may be expensive and wireless but the sound quality is not at all up to the price. Like beats headphones these are all talk but no sound

    Better than some wired headphones

    • Written by from Clydebank

Recently popped by my local Apple store to get a new set of headphones. In the past I've had Atomic Floyd's (excellent headphones) and Beats Solo's (ok but too bulky for day to day travel), I was considering another wired set of headphone then I spotted these. If you're worried that there's a trade off between sound quality and lack of wires don't, I've had wired headphones at the same price that sound worse The sound quality is actually excellent clear mids and highs and not too much bass, vocals come out clear without distortion. One thing that comes up in a lot of reviews is the fit of these headphones. It's ultimately down to the shape of your ears but if you spend time trying the different sizes then the fit isn't a problem, I spent some time working through the different sizes of hooks and buds and having 2 different shaped inner ears I found the mix that works now they're glued in. You have 2 options wear them under ear or over ear, I found the under ear option pointless as you still have the wire dangling so no different from wired headphones, but over ear they are great, it takes a little getting used to the positioning of the wire but once you have that right you don't notice the wires at all, which is the main seller for me as I was sick of wires catching and phono plugs wearing out in my pockets with the bluebuds theres no way the wire catches or breaks and the battery really does last around 8 hours. Overall excellent headphones which I will buy again well worth the price.

    Great for Tangle free Running/exercise

    • Written by from Wimbledon

I bought these to run the London Marathon, Overall they are perfect for cord free running. Once adjusted correctly (allow a good 20mins) the over ear fit is great , very light, no slippage in over 4 hrs running and did not make ears sore. I was able to change between music and phone very simply and despite a large crowd noise the microphone easily picked up my voice for phone calls. The blue tooth connection was instant and does not miss a beat.

I have also used for HIIT including burpees and they stayed firmly in place.

Now for the downside- The sound quality is average at best - this does not bother me but my be an issue if you expect great sound quality.
The Price- £149 for a pair of headphones is ridiculous and i worry about ruining them especially as i use them for exercise.
Volume control- when making volume adjustments the music stops and is replaced with a very irritating beeping sound.

I would recommend if you have cash to burn and cords annoy you during exercising, The tech does work

    Fit smaller ears.. just!

    • Written by from Towcester

I have tiny ears, and most in ear headphones don't fit me at all.
In the standard configuration, I can't get these to stay in, but bought some comply tips, and in the over the ear configuration, stay in fine.

The sound is great, as others have said, you must have them correctly fitted to get a decent bass.

I've had these since July and have done some 6-7 hour training walks in them. Have also used them on the cross trainer & rower with no issues at all.

    Highly recommended.

Potentially brilliant - if only they would fit properly

    • Written by from Wanstead

I researched bluetooth earbuds extensively and the Bluebuds X seemed to come out on top. After some fiddling with different sized buds, I was very pleased with the sound quality - surprisingly balanced with decent bass; a vast improvement over the standard iPhone offering. The trouble is that even the right size of bud doesn't keep them in place securely for long; the moment you move they do too and then you instantly lose the bass. I was forever pushing them around my ears to get the seal that is essential to getting any bass - and I'm not looking for heavy bass; just a balanced sound. In the end I gave up with huge reluctance and took them back for a refund (no problem with Apple), as in every other respect these are brilliant. I wonder if Jaybird have compromised on the material used in order to be able to offer the lifetime sweat warranty. Shame. I might give them another go and get some compatible foam buds as suggested by another reviewer.

Excellent in-ear headphones with memory foam eartips

    • Written by from Sunderland

I purchased this in-ear headphone as a Christmas treat. I have got to say its worth every single penny. At first I find it hard to adjust the eartips but after awhile I got the hang of it. I changed the eartips to memory foam ones which I bought from eBay called MoBeast. The memory foam eartips are extremely comfortable compared to silicon eartips.

I've had these beauties a year now and they are still going strong. They work perfectly with my iPhone 5 and my ipad air . Superb quality and sound . I use them when jogging and they don't budge. I don't work for jaybird, but these are the only Bluetooth headsets on the market. forget the rest!

    Excellent Headphones

    • Written by from Chorley

Just purchased a pair of these a couple of weeks ago and they are just great. They fit like a dream (you may need to change the ear tips around to get the correct fit) They stay put in my ears and block out a fair amount of outside sound if you get the right fit. Aside from they they just sound great.

Expensive ..... Yes, but well worth it.

Almost perfect, but replace the tips

    • Written by from Knapwell

These aren't cheap, but they are very good indeed. Extremely easy to use, high quality audio, good battery life, and being able to do away with the cable to the 'phone is liberating.

Only 4 stars for two reasons:

    - The "patented secure fit, ultra-comfortable and secure" tips are awful - uncomfortable and won't stay in place. Easily fixed by replacing them with some Comply memory foam tips.

    - There's no way to reverse left and right when wearing them over-ear

    But overall, still excellent.
