Does not stand the test of time

    • Written by from Sheffield

this is the second speck case I have bought - the first one was for my iPhone 4s, I would not buy one again. Although I feel it offers good protection the rubber bumper has rubbed off at the bottom and now the case has snapped just above the charging socket. Not good when the case is less than 10 months old.

I expected better for the price :-(

    Broken within 2 months

    • Written by from Edgware

Around 2 months ago I bought this case directly from Apple and was very disappointed as 2 months after I bought it, it was already falling apart. The rubber over the charging hole had come apart from the plastic and was starting to come off. I was also disappointed as the plastic around the volume buttons was starting to crack, I don't take my case off much so I was very surprised to find that it had been build to a standard where it could crack just by taking it of a couple of times.
However if you don't care about any of the above, the case itself was very secure on my phone and it was protecting it.

One of the most expensive cases, looks sturdy but falls to bits within a few months. Not good value.

    Not durable

Protects the phone very well. Unfortunately it can't look after itself. There are two grades of material. First is a hard plastic shell. This scratches easily, and is brittle. Mine has cracked by the phone's silencing switch. The other material is the impact-absorbing rubber. In protruding areas this is peeling away in layers, as well as, in other places, separating entirely from the plastic shell. Looks a mess now, after about four months in my pocket.

    Looks good on Day 1

Got this case for my phone, and it looked good, fitted great, did everything it should have. However, I've now had this case for maybe 3 months, and it hasn't lasted well at all with a very easy life. The back scraches REALLY easily and looks terrible as a result, and then the bottom of the case around where the lead plugs in snapped and then disintegrated.

    Poor

Only after a week or so use, the case started to break. Without being dropped the case broke above the dock point and the rubber edging started to come off. Very poor case.

Good Product but... DO NOT BUY

    • Written by from Glasgow

A good case which provides excellent protection for the iPhone 5. I bought this case in Jan 2013 and in March 2013 the case has already broken at the thin plastic above the charge. This is very disappointing as the case is rather expensive at £29.95 and I don't think a case at £15 a month is very economically viable. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CASE! I myself will not be buying another case the same as i think it is atrocious that the case has already broken! DO NOT BUY.

Great - Better than £20 ones

    • Written by from Haslingden

The 5 has really delicate edges (i know, go figure!); however this case protects all aluminium edges and is solid, where the other cases only seem to protect the side edges and back... for the extra ££ it is worth saving the phone!
Down side is it is not too sleek, and the rubber edge perishes a bit.

Nice design but too many flaws

    • Written by from Verona

I got this case for two months, and recently the bottom border (where there's the cable entrance) simply broke; other than that you can not use any accessory with the 30-pin Apple adapter, it's not so comfortable to extract the phone from it (I have to remove the phone every night to put it on the alarm-dock and the cover now is slightly bended).

    Awesome case

    • Written by from Bristol

I've had all the iPhones and with them, plenty of different cases. This case is by far the best that I've owned. With it's rubberised internal and a sturdy plastic external with just enough rubber material jutting out over the front of the phone to protect the phone screen, this case is superb. I broke the screen of my iPhone 4S and this happened on the first drop of a brand new case, hence the purchase of the 5 and, I have to admit, I've been a bit butter fingers with it as it's been cold and hands are frozen, the puppy's been jumping up at me or just cos I'm wearing gloves, I've ended up dropping it on numerous occasions but its taken all the knocks and protected the phone perfectly. I take it on runs and mountain bike rides and have dropped it at speed. This comes highly recommended on my "cases to buy" to be honest and I've had quite a few over the years.

    Great Design, Awesome Protection

    • Written by from LIVERPOOL

The case is a really great design. The outside of the case is made of glossy plastic, whilst the inside is made of shock-absorbent rubber. The front of the case also has rubber on the edges so if you were to drop it on it's screen, it would hit the rubber so you wouldn't have to worry about your screen being damaged.

All the edges of the case are rounded too to give a comfier hold in your hands. The case is a really tight fit on the iPhone so it's protection is superb.

The rubber which covers the volume and the sleep/wake buttons feel really good and are easy to press.

I recently moved from the Incase Pro Snap Case to this case and I can say that the CandyShell is much better!

My only criticism is that the back is glossy so it is prone to fingerprints.

I would recommend this case to everybody.

    Good Case

    • Written by from manchester

I bought this case yesterday and after a days use it has already picked us several scratches on the back of the case. Also, the fingerprints are very visible. I didn't really expect this because of the quite expensive price tag on this product.

Despite this, my iPhone 5 fits in perfectly and certainly makes your phone feel more secure. I was afraid of dropping my iPhone before buying this but now I have dropped it a couple of times and there is no damage at all. I have always said if you buy an expensive phone, invest in a good, expensive case which has the entire phone protected.

The Case design is also very good as it has a rubber rim around the top of the case which will protect the screen if it is dropped, these is a no worse feeling than seeing your favourite iDevice smashed on the floor, the possibility of this scenario is significantly reduced with the case on.

If you have £29.95 lying around in your wallet/purse then defiantly make this case a priority in your shopping list.

    Best buy ever!

    Specktacular!

    • Written by from DERBY

I purchased this case from Apple's Regent Street store in London on the 13-12-12 and I really like it. The phone fits in comfortably and without tempting fate it feels nice and secure.

There is a slight rim on the front of the case which should mean no more nasty scratches... Of course I would recommend a screen protector-after all iDevices are an investment.

My only criticism? The plastic on the back of the case picks up finger prints quicker than the CSI team....

Other than that it's a really nice product!
