It doesn't charge, terrible waste of money. Apple shouldn't have it on the store.

    Broken and can't be repaired

    • Written by from Colburn

My Hipkey just stopped working after about 8 months. On emailing the manufacturers about a repair I've had no response. However useful it is it's no use if it's not reliable and the makers can't or won't repair it. I'll also mention that when it did work it is quite clunky and inconvenient to set up. Also it only supports 1 divide and as I have an iPhone and an iPad that is a major disadvantage.

    it constantly beeps and disconnects

    • Written by from København Ø

Though the idea is great, the hardware (or connect technology with iPhone 5) is filled with errors, my hip key disconnects all the time... not an issue if you have configured the "safe zones", but that doesn't seem to work either.

in the end, a very plastic kind of expensive key hanger.

    Don't waste your money!

    • Written by from LONDON

I live in Argentina and had a friend purchase hipkey in London. Thought it was my answer to many lost iphones. Their quality control department is obviously non existant as my hipkey refused to charge! Thought this might be a basic quality control check . . . not for hipkey. Again, don't waste your money!

Nice design let down by very poor product performance.

    • Written by from Fleet

At this price looks can't be everything. Sadly this product relies on bluetooth connectivity and therefore performance is poor. The Hip Key consistently needs reconnecting to the app, it loses connectivity and decides to go off whenever it likes. My advice: save your money and frustration. Wait for a better product that fulfils the promise and potential. The right product would be one which markets itself: 'set this up and forget about it' - because thats what the consumer wants and needs. How can this be awarded a red dot if the product does not perform? Egos:1 Customers:0. Great returns service from Apple though!

    Waste of Money

    • Written by from Aarhus C

Great idea for a product, unfortunately it is very poorly executed.

They call the device a "hipKey", but note in their FAQ, that it will not work if you put it on your keyring and carry it in your pocket. They added this FAQ _after_ I purchased their product. The result is lots of false alarms, rendering the product literally unusable.

The iOS app itself is very poorly done. It is unstable, locks-up quite often, settings are sometimes lost, connection to the hipKey is often lost, alerts are not always audible due to apparent bugs in handling of the mute button, distance presets does not affect alarm range and battery life of my iPhone 5 is seriously affected when running the app in the background.

I would advice against buying this product, it is a waste of money. Pity, it sounds like such a great product when you read about it.
