    product returned

New to cameras like this and thought as it was a 'cloud' camera that footage would be saved in the 'cloud'. My mistake. Another purchase of £239 required for a D-Link cloud hard drive to save footage. Purchased camera to find out 'who' in the animal world dug a tunnel outside a window. They are night activity animals so thought I could point camera towards outside from inside but not possible as 'night vision sensors' reflected back from window and makes outside viewing impossible. Again, my mistake. Live streaming possible if i wanted to stay up all night. Oh yes, the set up. Advice: ignore red label on connectors as CD is out of date and you must download the Setup software from D-Link website. Absolutely make sure you have the exact model of camera as there is one with a few more letters at end and this setup software DOES NOT WORK but digging around the website I did find the exact model of camera and this software FINALLY DID WORK. This was by the way after three attempts at full setup!!! In the end my attempt at a reasonably priced camera to find the digging culprit has ended in failure and I must start over with a different camera. Much 'work' for a failure.

    Good and Bad

This camera is one of those things where it either works for you or does not. I have 11 of them set up for a security network. Five cameras connected fine, the others are not detected in the wizard at all. No reason. No matter what I have done I am unable to get them to connect. I am head of an IT department, and have a lot of experience in IP cameras, port forwarding and so forth. D link has a great idea, it just needs tweaking, in my humble opinion.

My solution was to purchase Blue Iris to view the cameras.

    It's really good!

The install wizard on the CD (Mac) is straight forward and it's supposedly searching for an update (it finds none ....) and all went well until it started to search for the camera and couldn't find any over and over again. Eventually in the bottom of the install wizard there is a download button - press it and you can download and install a new and updated wizard (now why did it not find it when it searched for an update :-(. Anyway - from there it's all great. Well, it's great with a few mishaps - You probably bought this because you want to access via iPad or iPhone on the go or iMac from home or all - anyway for the devices you really want to get the right app here - there is a few but the right one is called Mydlink Lite with a big D in the icon - forget the other apps. This one works really really good.

There is also a few Java updates to the Mac when you want to access the d link cloud but although not that pretty it's straight forward - no worries

    YES! It's recommended I I just ordered a few more !!! ;-)

    Dcs-932L camera

Great piece of kit for the price. Good picture up to 5 meters at stated and the night vision is good too. Motion detection works along with notifications. The only down fall is the power lead is short and the noise Interferance sometimes becomes over powering when watching. But for the price I will happily purchase another though I would prefer the enhanced version with SD card for recording. Easy to set up on imac.

    Cam for street monitoring

    • Written by from Hove

I wanted a cam that could view my driveway from upstairs window and to be able to record and alert me. Sort of works.

First, the MAC software on the CD supplied won't find the CAM so you need to download the latest version from website. Detects fine then. You also need to have Java installed. Newest versions of Mac OS uninstall this so you may need to reinstall. Once that's done - you can view CAM feeds on iPad / iPhone with app from App Store or via web interface (Java) once you've joined.

To record or do anything useful, you need the D-View CAM software - but this is only for Windows. It does seem to work if you install it under Parallels (I'm using version 9) and Windows 7. You need to turn off Windows Firewall and set Parallels to be in bridge mode (so it gets an IP address on the same subnet as your camera).Throw in a large second virtual drive for recordings and it seems to work. You can then configure multiple CAMs, recording to a schedule and lots of other useful things. Shame there is no Mac native version.

Overall quality is pretty good at 480p. Night vision is good too so eventually will do what I want.

Brilliant. Easy and fast to set up. Apps work great.

    • Written by from Sheffield

I read a few mixed reviews of this camera across the Internet, so was apprehensive at first.

However it was all set up in minutes and works brilliantly - used both the iPhone and iPad app to view the live feed. Motion detection meant it emailed 6 snapshots out to me, but you can turn this feature off.

Definitely recommend to check on your home etc while you are out!

    Great product!

    • Written by from Aalborg

Setup is not perfect, and it will take you an hour or to trying out the different settings etc, but once you have it up and running, it just gets the job done, and it is stabile all day long.

Using it to check in on the dog during the day and motion sensor, when leaving the home for a longer period.

The iPhone app has just been updated with more feature, but some are still missing. E.g. I can active the motion sensor from the iPad version of the app, but not from the iPhone App...?!

5 stars if the setup was better on Mac, and if the online software and apps were just a bit better.

    Very difficult to setup

    • Written by from London

I've owned this product for nearly two weeks and have still not got it to work wirelessly, the setup CD is PC only, there is a downloadable Mac installer, however it's very basic and doesn't appear to support configuring the camera for wireless networks, D-Link support so far has been really bad.

    Great camera

Great little camera, does everything it says it does.takes a little while to get the motion detection settings working but after that is great. Need to be aware that motion detection needs to be configured while on the same wireless connection as the camera and can not be done over the web.. Lose one star for this but otherwise very good

    Good cameras for the money.

    • Written by from St Helens

These cameras are great yes the installation CD is designed for windows only but you can easily download a setup wizard for mac from the my dlink site just make sure you pick the right model number for the camera. DCS- 923L.

Set up was quick and easy only issue I had with cameras is that the power cable is rather short tried to get a 2.1mm socket to DC extension however this did not work as it made the cameras night vision cause the camera to crash and reboot every few minutes.

All in all for the money you pay these are great cameras they just work as does the app to view them no issues with motion detection alerts, night vision or any other of the settings.

    Beware of the cold

    • Written by from København

It works perfectly even if it's a bit of a ordeal to get it to work. You have to have some patience setting the motion sensor to avoid getting 50 emails a day.

BUT if you want to monitor a house in a cold place you should be aware that the operating temperature is between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius.

Let's say it hasn't been a huge success this winter monitoring my house in Sweden....

No software for MAC and no function on Window 7 on ParallesDesktop

    • Written by from KASTRUP

The camera comes with no software for MAC and I could not get it to work on Windows 7 via ParallesDesktop when the camera is not found on the network even if it is green light and should be active, so it's apparently not as simple and easy to install , as described..
By downloading software for MAC D-Link.dk, so there is a fault in the software and can't be installed.

Great Camera, but D-Link's support for MacOS isn't perfect.

    • Written by from Norwich

The supplied CD is for Windows only, not a good start. The MacOS installation wizard can be downloaded within the My D-Link support page. The Wizard is easy to use, but setting up the wireless access is slightly more tricky. If using a Apple Time Capsule you can only setup wireless by accessing the admin page for the camera, this can be done by typing the cameras IP address as listed in the Installation Wizard into your web browser address bar. There is wide range of settings for the camera in the admin control, including timed sessions, and image quality to name a couple.

Overall fantastic for the price, just a bit more effort for a MacOS user to setup and a tricky wireless setup thats not listed clearly.
