    Small but big sound

    • Written by from Belfast

Got these to connect to my tv, via the aux cable and use the Airplay connection for the rest of my devices eg, iMac, iPad, iPhone.

Sound is good, the unit is small and sleek looking. Great for me as I do not have much space.

Very good sound, but loses connection occasionally

    • Written by from Aldershot

I purchased the Bose Soundlink Air as my main living room sound system. Impressed with the ease of setup and sound quality which easily filled the room adequately.. Good base with fantastic clarity. Looks very smart and sleek and uses airplay efficiently with all my Apple devices. Everything I need from a speaker. Only negative point I have is that it can drop connection occasionally whilst listening. When this happens the sound becomes very distorted and jumpy, much like a scratched cd. Can be very annoying whilst trying to demonstrate to somebody how well the system works. It doesn't happen that regularly but quite frankly, for this amount of money and what you expect from Bose, it shouldn't happen at all. I dont believe it to be my internet connection as i have superfast broadband and every other wireless device i use within my home runs perfectly.Apart from this gripe, a very good purchase and when working correctly it delivers everything i need to a very good standard.

Only works with slow WiFi networks

    • Written by from London

I had problems connecting this to my WiFi network and after a long telephone conversation with Bose customer support I was finally told that the speaker does not work with 802.11n networks (which is what Virgin Media fibre optic provides). This is staggering information as the 802.11n standard is now well over two years old, while Apple's AirPlay system is less than two years old. What on earth is Bose doing selling a speaker that cannot cope with the most modern WiFi standard? Bose support's only proposed solution was to downgrade the speed of my wireless network to 802.11g. So in order to be able to use the SoundLink Air speaker I have to downgrade the performance of the entire network? Crazy! The speaker was returned.

it plays usually quite good, but try louder music and it won't be good anymore. the sound starts to distort. bit pricey for what it is or what it gives. good imac speaker or when you want to play radio via tunein on iPhone without leaving the bed.

    Excellent Sound Quality

    • Written by from Belper

I dont understand why anyone would give this speaker a negative review! I set it up using the online app with no problems what so ever. Yes its a bit of a pain to have to plug the unit into a computer, but you only have to do it once.
Now the best bit the sound, wow amazing its far and away the best wireless speaker I've heard at this price and I've heard a few.
It does have a slight emphasis toward the bass, as some people have noted but this can be adjusted via your apps so no problem.
I use it connected to my TV's and its truly brilliant, better than for music if I'm honest.
I liked it so much I bought two! one for the TV in the bedroom, its so much better than having lots of separate devices and wires.
The only negative point I can find is the size of the power supply which is ridiculously large, I wish it was built in to the speaker as it does look rather unsightly if you can see it. Mine is hidden behind the TV unit so no problem.
It even syncs perfectly with Utube on my iPhone without any additional software and no delay which surprised me.
Lastly, it looks nice and fits in with most decors.

    Worth the money

Really impressed with this wireless speaker. I have also owned the B&W A5 which is more expensive and prefer the Bose system for sound quality, mainly because it produces better bass. Setup was easy although not through an app like the B&W. The airplay is faultless although I did need to upgrade my old router. It links really well with Spotify, BBC iplayer and Apple TV.

    Not the best choice

    • Written by from Odense NØ

I purchased both Bose Soundlink Air and B&W A5 to compare. A5 is way better than Bose when it comes to sound quality.

The setup process for B&W A5 only needs your iPhone while you need to connect the Bose Soundlink Air to your computer with an USB cable.

My extra bucks on B&W A5 were absolutely well spent.

If I had more space, I would go for the B&W A7 or the Zeppelin when it comes to active compact streaming sound system.

If you go for the better sound experiences, go for B&W products (or higher-end brands)

    Cracking Speaker

    • Written by from Fleet

I bought one of these after a street party where a friend had the blue tooth version. After speaking with one of the sales team at the Apple Store in Basingstoke I opted for the Airplay version.

Set up was really easy, adding it to my home network. Initially I had a few problems with it dropping off the network but following the simple one button software update its been no problem at all since.

I can't believe you can get such a great sound from something so small. Its powerful enough to fill our living room and came with a voucher for £20 off the additional battery which I duly ordered from BOSE (Who incidently have fab customer service)

I would definately recomend this to anyone looking for a good quality, great sounding speaker. Its worth every penny.

    Guaranteed Bose quality

The speaker was easy to install. Sound quality is very good, compared to other same size speaker systems.

I have connected the speaker to my computer with aux-cable and I play music from my iPhone/iPad via AirPlay. Everything works fine. The speaker is always in stand-by mode so you can start playing music wirelessly within two seconds.

    Great Sound - Terrible Longevity

    • Written by from Chippenham

Have owned these speakers for awhile. Was always impressed by the quality of the sound, in particular the rich bass. They sound absolutely great when playing jazz, indie, hard rock. Never had any complaints. Unfortunately, in the last two weeks the speakers started dropping off the WiFi network very regularly. They have always had a slight tendency to drop of the network but never as bad as this. Then they just stopped working completely. Completed all of the trouble shooting no luck. Couldn't perform a factory reset as the speakers wouldn't allow it. Then the speakers started showing the "red warning light" which is a bad sign. Could not correct it. Luckily i bought the speakers through the apple store. They have the best customer services i have come across and were very helpful. Sadly though, no more soundlink air for me.

I have given these speakers two star because of the fact that they are unreliable (at least in my experience) and died very quickly. If i was rating based on sound only i would have given them 4.5. They are not as good as the Zeppelin Airs, but then they are nowhere near the price of the Zeppelin Air either.
