    Great Sound, Poor Fit.

    • Written by from London

These head phones sound absolutely incredible. The sonic quality is very high, and it is noticeable both on bassy tracks and those with more treble. They also look great.
Would I buy these again? No.
The reason being is a simple design flaw. These headphones have the same quality or better than "over the head" DJ headphones, but this is the issue. The darts are metal, and house some pretty incredible woofers, and so there is a huge amount of stress on the headphone covers to hold the darts in place. If you really want these, then get some custom ear moulds made as the supplied covers will not cut it - you'll either have to push the darts too far in it won't be comfortable or you'll injure yourself.
If you plan to go running with these in, then good luck as they definitely won't stay in!
They should remake these with more advanced ear fittings.

    Shame!

These are an excellent set of earphones. The sound is impressive (especially if you fit the correct sized earbuds!) and it does feel well made although the earpieces themselves do feel heavy in the ear. BUT I first purchased these a little over 2 years ago and they developed the same fault twice. The sound in the right earpiece became very intermittent and there appeared to be a loose connection in the phone plug.

The Atomic Floyd customer support was excellent though and they did replace the original set but when the fault recurred just beyond the original 2 year warranty they were only able to offer a 40% discount on a new pair. £200 on a set of in ear headphones is, I think, quite an investment and I do feel that, for this sort of price, they should last longer than a year at a time.

outstanding sound but muffling in the left channel

    • Written by from London

I have bought two pairs of these, one after the other, because of the truly exceptional sound quality, especially the quality of the base. I have not heard better from in-the-ear headphones. There was an issue with connections going in the left channel with the first pair but I think I treated them too harshly (used for gym etc). They are quite heavy and depending the design of your ear, may have a tendency to fall out. Similar to Brian P's 02-June 2013 review, I too have experienced muffling of the sound in the left channel with my second pair which may also be a wax problem (I do wash, honest!) I wear the second pair for my daily London commute and treat them carefully. I share his view that they are almost impossible to clean. As a result I do not think I will buy a third pair. I now plan to pay even more money to see if a different make matches/exceeds the sound quality without the weight and muffling issues; my search continues!

Average Quality product with shocking customer support when they go wrong

    • Written by from Wilmslow

I bought these 14 months ago with average thoughts on there quality, then after 14 months they started to go wrong, i contacted Atomic regarding having them repaired, to my horror they said as i do not have the original purchase record they would offer me a new set at 50% off. I DO NOT WANT NEW ONES, all i want is mine repaired, i would never buy another pair and warn others to think very hard about buying them. There are much better buds for a fraction of the money and customer support that beats them hands down. You have been warned.

    Wow - perfect set up

    • Written by from Southwell

I like others have been searching for the perfect IEM's and have tried lots of pairs ! Ive sold and bought loads of pairs ! These are really well built. But 2 things frustrated me (not just with these) were the limited sound from my iPhone and the weight of them. (On any exercise or long walk they did come lose and i couldn't get the right seal) So i now have moulded earplugs which i use with them which cost around £90 (and can use with others as well) plus a Fiio Headphone amp to go with it which i take out (I have both the larger E11 (£55) and smaller E5 (£19) for my pocket). This combination is incredible and the headphone amp really drives these little gems and i feel like I'm in a nightclub and the moulded earplugs give a great seal and hold the weight and I now have finished my search.....

    Brilliant, with one problem

    • Written by from b'wade

These headphones are perfect in every way but one. Sadly it is a large flaw which caused me to return them.

They have a heavy-duty braided cable which I could see outlasting the iPod I use them with. However this material comes to an end about half-way up the cable and is replaced with a very delicate cable for the remainder of the length up to the earphones.

If the cable needs the strong material anywhere, it's here! Especially considering the straight-inserting design of the earphones (I do actually like this) which leaves the cable bending at an L-shaped angle after coming out of the ears.

Don't think this review is all negative - the earphones are completely perfect apart from this one, major flaw. If I could afford to replace them every 3 months like I can with £50 ones, I would. However for the £199 price tag I would not think it out of order to make this tiny change and have the strong cable go all the way up!

Conclusion: they sound fantastic, however only purchase them if you can afford to replace them every few months.

Too heavy for the gym & balance issues taking time to resolve

    • Written by from London

The sound was great but then I noticed slight muffling of the sound in the left channel. Customer support thought it was wax but the design means if it is wax build-up, it's difficult to clear. The recommended method of letting it dry and using a soft brush could push debris into the mesh. The headphones are solid one piece that you can't dismantle to clean. Despite numerous attempts to clean them, the sound is still not great. The design looks good but the solid metal construction makes both headphones and the control/microphone heavy, the latter thumping on your neck when you exercise. Chord movement causes sound transmission. All in all, if you're very careful with them and use them sitting quietly and enjoying your music, they're great but don't buy them to use in the gym.

Best Headphones I have ever owned.

    • Written by from denver

By far the best headphones i have ever used in my life, they are advertised as having an excessive amount of bass but i've noticed that the bass never feels like its too much, just right in fact, treble is clear and vocals as well as solo instrumentals stand out perfectly. with these i've discovered parts of my music that i'd never heard before! Close your eyes and its like youre there.

    OK but not great

    • Written by from HULL

I bought these in February due to their amazing reviews! They replaced a pair of iBEATS which I loved the sound of but not their really shoddy build quality.
Personally, I'm a bit disappointed with the Super Darts. They just lack something for me. I use an iPhone 4s with 320kbps, Lossless and iTunes bought 256kbps AAC files. I listen to a lot of dance, drum and bass & RnB music. These earphones are definitely clear and bright, maybe too bright at times as they can be piercing. For me though, there just isn't enough bass. They lack bass compared to the Beats and I MISS THAT! Sound quality is subjective to the listener but i'm disappointed and given the chance, I'd return them.
Build quality is first rate though apart from the horrible remote which is too high up and doesn't feel comfortable plus I can't seem to be able to use the centre button without having to really look at it. Just not a very nice remote.
All in all, ok for £120 but wayyyyyyyyy over priced at £200. I bought because of the amazing reviews. Just be careful because for they don't do it for me! OK but 6 out 10

    Superb

    • Written by from Caterham

I was a reluctant spending £ 200 on in ear Headphones, but I have to say they are without doubt the best earphones I've used. The sound is crystal clear with plenty of Bass, fantastic vocals with no distortion.
The build quality is second to none and they feel and look fantastic.

If there was a negative it would be that there not ideal for jogging. I use a cheaper lighter pair for running.

    Superb - I didn't find any faults

    • Written by from TADWORTH

I was a bit hesitant in buying these, as although most people loved the sound there seemed to be a few fit / use issues. After having used them I am so glad I ignored the negatives, the sound is simply stunning - and I have had a few very high end phones (in-ear, and also studio monitors etc). WELL worth the money, believe me.

Bass is as it should be in rock type music, for more heavy based rap / r&b it is like being in a club, vocals are superb, hi end superb also. All round, I have never heard better.

The issues I was concerned about where

    1. Quite heavy and they fall out in gym. MY EXPERIENCE - I used them quite extensively in gym, and used a cable clip (from another headset) just under the 3 way splitter. They are totally solid, not the slightest bit of movement when jogging / running / weights etc. I think the issue could be more that if you let the 3 way connector dangle free it may pull out the phones from your ears (as it is quite heavy). Securing that in place seems to sort it out.

    2. Not very warm, not good for vocals / acoustic. MY EXPERIENCE - I use them on iPhone, iPad and Apogee Duet 2 DAC. There is absolutely nothing that a tiny bit of EQ can sort out with regard to warmth. The way I understand it, these phones have boosted EQ in low and top end, however you can of course just adjust this back yourself by manually EQ;ing.

    3. I had Etymotic HF3 previously, which were frankly like sticks in my ears - they didnt feel comfortable. I guess i must have short ear canals, but i could never get a nice fit. With these size M supplied tips are just perfect. Also sound is miles better than the Etymotics IMHO.

    4. Price - is there anything better at £200? MY EXPERINECE - I have used quite a lot of higher end Shure, UE, Klipsch. These just blow them away. Also, which is a bonus is finish is superb, and I love the look (red).

All in, am so glad I got these ones - two way sound isolating, AWESOME sound over every range of music, fantastic construction. Pricey, but sooo worth it.

    Unbelievable sound quality.

    • Written by from Merseyside

After buying my 2 kids a pair of Beats Studio headphones for Xmas I decided that I needed a better pair for my Ipod.
Originally I was going to go for the Beats in-ear but after reading reviews of the Super Darts I couldn't resist.
What a great decision. It has brought new life to my music collection. Music is crisp and detailed with fantastic bass and I am hearing things that I have never heard before. Whatever you throw at them, the Atomic Floyd Super Darts handle with ease. I love a mixture of music from Rap, classical to pop and rock. These little earphones don't miss a beat.
After doing a couple of comparrison tests with my sons Beats there is no contest. The Beats feel muffled when compared to the Super Darts.

Oh, and my dog likes them too. I am enjoying the sound so much that I find myself going for another couple of miles when I take him out for a walk, just to listen to more music.

And if my dog likes them, I am sure you will too.

    Good but got some disadvantages

    • Written by from Chester

I've bought SuperDarts 7 months ago. The sound quality is really great but I've expected something more bass after reading those all 5 stars reviews - especially a deeper, better bass.

Generally I like those headphones but I won't write about the good sides because you can find a lot of them in the other reviews.

I like to take care of expensive stuff but treating those SuperDarts with kids gloves wasn't enough:
The small red logo sticker came out after 2 weeks.
The red wire is made of fabric which absorbs dirt and sweat - this is why it become very dark now.

Another weakness is the remote which has a design which is very hard to use. It's always hard for me to press the middle button - it's too small. Take a look at iPhone headphone's remote - the buttons are bigger and on the whole top side. Atomic Floyd's remote is round and it's hard to FIND and press the buttons.

The headphones are also a bit too heavy and they slide out from the ears from time to time.

I like the great sound quality but I wouldn't spend 200£ again to buy them. I think my old Creative EP-630 (which R.I.P. now) had deeper bass and had lifetime warranty.

I think there are cheaper headphones noteworthy than those.

    Extreme gorgeousness

    • Written by from ROYSTON

bought these back in the summer (one of our two days of dry UK weather). They've lived in my ears ever since. i'm still trying to find music that these lovely aluminium, red cabled works of luciousness cannot handle.

Anything from vocal low res Ted lectures to Apple lossless tracks of various genres are given a rich lustre. Vocals are wonderfully crisp and clear with bases deep and full. music separation is great with detail and resonance that leaves you just wanting to listen to more and more.

phone functionality works a treat with the caller sounding as though there with you whilst you rarely hear the caller complaining they can't hear you or the back ground noise is too high.

buy some and love them too.

WOW depending on what use!! and YES BUY!!

    • Written by from Bishops Stordford

    Pro:

I have them and I love them...these will be some of the best looking and for most of us will be the best sounding in ear phones one will own for a long time. The sheer capability of these sets are incredible and durable for a life time. the mid range isn't the best compared to say Klipch X10i or high end Shure headphones, mid range I would give it say 3 1/2 maybe 4 out of 5 but they sure do scream in all other factors especially BASS.

    Con:

The BIG BUT is if you do sports they are not for you 100% as they will fall off very easily due to its twin speakers in each headphone, they are made of metal so they are a little heavily construction, (I use apple ones for gyming).

    Contrast:

I think for those who know about headphones and in ear phones Beats by Dre are rip offs. they have better sound quality then the generic with a high endorsement and high price (sorry to say but it's true). Atom Looks Great, Feels Great, above all Sounds Great and to top it off it will last a looooooong time because of its construction, I mean LOOOOOONG!!!

Excellent Earphones but only with Memory Foam Earbuds/Tips

    • Written by from Northallerton

I bought these earphones after doing much research on them. Its a very very well built headphone and I am sure it will lasts you a very long time. Because of the high quality material used, it is quite heavy on the ear and may feel uncomfortable or maybe even drop out. However, if you replace the silicon ear tip with a memory foam ones, all the minor problems will be resolved. I came across the memory foam ear tips after being advised by Atomic Floyd's customer service. The memory foam ear tips that I used are by MoBeast and you can find them fairly cheaply on eBay. At least much more cheaper than the rip off Comply brand of which I tried and is not as good as MoBeast's. As for the sound, all I can say is its the best I have ever experienced! I used to own Dr Dre Tour and Klipsch x10i and the Superdart is far superior in terms of built and sound quality.
