Very unreliable.. 5 faulty in months!!

    • Written by from Sale

Having this phone I knew the battery life was brilliant but the plugs and wires are absolutely horrendous!! I've had 5faulty wires, some just stopping work whereas most having to apply pressure under the wire where connected to phone for charge! Then two faulty plugs all of this was bought at Apple stores across the country! If I knew I had to keep buying charger I would have just opted for a better samsung or other competitor! Absolutely ridiculous!!

    Hopelessly frail

    • Written by from London

I've got through 2 in less than a year. The first the USB jack broke after 8 months. The second no longer charges my iPhone 4 after just 3 months use. Terrible build quality for an otherwise well-designed product.

Micro USB will brake rendering product USELESS

    • Written by from London

With the poor iPhone 4S battery life, this product is essential - until it brakes. The second one I bought just went, both just over a year - and Mophie then say 'tough luck'. They won't acknowledge this is a design fault as has been shown by so many other users.

You'll never be able to test the true life of this product because it is not designed to last that long.

    Look for another brand

    Shouldn't complain...

    • Written by from Bath

Mine's just packed up, & I'm trying to decide whether to replace it with another, or the Juicepack Plus instead - as the latter's much heavier, I'll probably stick with the 'Air'. I've had mine just under 18 months, & still had a fair amount of power. I thought the micro USB port was the problem, but when I took a closer look at the inside of the lower part of the case, I found that where I'd been removing it from the rest - which was no mean feat for some time - the inbuilt however-many-pin plug that connects to the bottom of the iPhone had got damaged - the plastic was grazed & the metal bent. This happened where it came away one side before the other - not that I removed it that much. The main part of the case can be hard to remove too, so I guess the 'Plus' would be even harder. Having said that, I now don't fancy less convenience with an external top-up pack. Fairly resilient: only a couple of scratches to edge.

Has great potential, but very unreliable - 3 dead in 9 months

    • Written by from Faversham

I bought a Juice Pack in March 2012, and in many respects I’ve been pleased with it. At first, I’d have given it 5 stars. There’s a very big BUT, though. It’s been replaced twice by the vendor because the micro-USB port has failed, and the third one is dying after less than 9 months. It tends to stop connecting for data first, so it’s not possible to sync or backup with the phone in the case. Then it stops charging properly, so that I can only charge (if I’m lucky) by wrapping the cable tightly around the case to keep it taut in the socket. Maybe I’ve been very unlucky, but it looks to me like a poor quality USB port. the device is clearly not fit for purpose if the USB ‘s durability is measured in a very few months.

    powerful juice, but not durable

    • Written by from Sheffield

it good design to juice your iphone when you use your iphone as camera or play games outdoor for a whole day. however, after few months, it won't juice up to 50% your battery. even worse, the bottom of case easily get loose, then the bottom pin won't connect so well with juice pack, so there will be problem fully charge the juice pack, and sometime it come off when you charge your iphone. This kinds of quality only worth up to £30.

Battery fantastic, let down by a case that'll crack just inside a year

    • Written by from Oxford

Purchased this battery pack along with the iPhone 4S and boy has it saved this heavy iPhone user from a lot of exhausted iPhone battery usage over the just a shade over a year now.

Unfortunately, as others have said here, the Mophie *case* isn't without it's defects.
About 6 months I too found the micro USB socket to have a slight amount of wiggle in the case, nothing too bad but not the same "as delivered" feel.

And worst of all, the case in general - whilst the case part will all snap together with a fine positive feel to start off at the 10 month point the bottom part of the case that houses the indicator lights and USB port started to lose it's "click" and at 12 months I find fishing the iPhone out my pocket does always follow that this piece is still attached.

The "silver" trim (on the black model) after 9 months has started to peel and crack away and I predict that further use will just encourage more peeling of the trim as it snags on pocket fabric.

    Would I buy another? No.
Did I buy the Mophie Juice Pack Universal Powerstation PRO to take over this role? Yes

It's a shame that the housing for this product is so poor and just about later a single year as I'll miss the convenience of a case with an excellent battery and ability to charge and data sync via micro USB port

    Very disappointed

    • Written by from Romford

After only two months product packed up . Initially i noticed the micro USB cable connection port had split , then the cable would not fit into unit securely when charging , now it doesn't work at all . I think this is a design. Fault with product . Returning unit to apple store where purchased , and hopefully will get a replacement as product still under warranty .

Functions ok but quality of materials is terrible

    • Written by from Wells

    Very disappointed with this product.

Does the job in that it recharges the phone but it's falling apart in under one month. The quality of the materials used is obviously very poor.

Almost immediately large pieces of the plastic were falling off, after three weeks barely any of it was left. The fastening mechanism has broken and the casing no longer fits together.

I can still charge it up and fit the bottom section to the phone with Sellotape but that's pretty disappointing. If this was a ten dollar product I could live with it but it's not, it's really expensive.

Not worth the money, in fact it's not worth half the money...

    IT WILL BRAKE

    • Written by from LOCHGILPHEAD

This is a fantastically useful product until it brakes , and it will brake.
I have bought two so far and they cannot last more than three months before the bottom clip on part of the batterie case fails , either the micro usb socket gives up or the whole thing just stops connecting and its not just me, every one I know who has bought one has found the same. Needs a major re-think to make it last more than a few weeks.

Turn your iPhone into a brick instantly

    • Written by from Newcastle upon Tyne

The fit isn't perfect - on mine there is a noticible gap where the case splits to enable the phone to be slid into it - it doesn't look flush and I suspect it would catch on things. Secondly the sound on/off button doesnt sit centrally in it's designated hole. The illuminated lights on the bottom which tell you the charge level are cheap and nasty, and finally the entire case adds so much bulk to your phone you may as well be carrying around a brick in your pocket. For the price and quality there are much better alternatives around - me personally I'd rather have a nice slim phone and carry around a usb cable in my bag and charge as and when rather than having this beast attached to it.

    Phenomenal.

    • Written by from ascot

Wow. This is a fantastic product. It extends the battery life by up to 70% of its full charge, on top of protecting your iPhone all round, including a very nice-to-grip case that prevents you from accidentally dropping your phone (I've used this case for 2 months now, and I am yet to drop it, considering that was a common problem for me prior to owning this case). People saying they aren't able to sync their phone... that's because, remarkably, you can't. It is incapable of transferring data through it, which is no problem, as you can take the bottom off to plug in your iPhone cable, and still have the main body of the case protecting your phone.

As a final point, it has a sleek look, it is an easy-to-use case, and a spectacular product.

    A must buy.

I bought it recently and thought that my iPhone will weight more, however, it is not true! The case itself weighs almost nothing and the battery lasts longer. iPhone is better protected now, this product is truly amazing!

Good, but needs a little more thought

    • Written by from LONDON

It does make the phone much larger, but if you visit an apple store, ALL the POS units have a large rubbery battery block attached (plus some other nice goodies), which outlines the need for an external battery for iPhones in heavy use. For me, it gives a good day of use before charging over my sleep period.
Before I bought this unit, I read all the reviews and was surpassed by the comment about the micro USB failing (I have many devices with micro USB ports and NONE have yet failed). Once I got the unit I had more of an idea why the micro USB port could break. They have placed the micro USB port on the curve at the bottom of the unit (probably so you can pose the phone upright when powering) so that ANY USB plug you put in, does not seat itself properly, leaving about 1/3 of the plug outside the body of the unit and no snug fit of the plug surround against the body of the unit. This means that undue stress is applied to the remaining 2/3td of the socket without the benefit of a snug fit, plug to body. This is probably why my micro USB port is now beginning to fail after two months. I consider that this inappropriate placement of the micro USB socket (probably outside the design specifications) and I believe, will always lead to failure inside the proposed life of the unit, I intend to seek a refund.

    Solves the battery life problem!

    • Written by from Galway

This is amazing, it completely solves the battery life issue on my 4S. I was getting about a day's battery life previously, now it's 3 days. Not only does it intelligently release power to the phone, it really protects the phone, is very nice to hold in the hand, and looks great (at least the black version does). Even better, it adds virtually no weight to the phone, it's really light. It fits the phone perfectly, and is very solidly attached. As negatives, it's quite awkward to access the volume buttons on the side of the phone. Also, it doesn't come with a wall plug, just a USB charger, so you'll need a compatible wall socket plug to charge it from the electricity mains, otherwise you'll need to charge it on a USB port (which takes far longer to charge). So, why 4 stars? Really it's because of the price, it's really expensive for what is essentially an iPhone cover with a battery in it.

    Just.....OK

    • Written by from Loughborough

I bought this several days ago and have been used for three times. I found that even I charged 100% of the battery case. The case can only charge my 4s for about 60% of battery (from 1% to 60%).
