Bose SoundDock is worth the money

For the person who said there system only lasted 1 year, well we brought the original Bose SoundDock and it has lasted us 6 years and only just died. Am now looking to get the SoundDock 2. They hold there price (we paid the same amount 6yrs ago!) so if we get another 6 years out of this I will be more than happy. Excellent sound. Small and neat and unobtrusive. Yes I do agree with the others that the remote is pointless, but works and does what its meant to.

This is the best sound system ever. Very easy to use and charges your Ipod as you play, great. Lightwegiht and easy to transport.

The remote is ok as remotes go but as read in someone elses review could do with a mini screen to choose the song from the remote instead of having to keep getting up to do this manually.

Overall an excellent item. Have had for about 2 years now with no problems. If you want excellent sound and something easy to use buy one now.

The Bose Sounddock 2 produces the best value and sound quality for its price tag, and quite easily fills a decent sized room. Add an Aiport express for AirPlay and stream Apple Lossless from your Mac or PC and you have a quality HiFi system to play your iTunes library for under £300

    Good sound but terrible remote

I bought this while passing through duty free so I could listen to quality sound while overseas. Unboxed and set it up in minutes. The sound is very good considering the price versus some of the competition so I was happy with that. That is until I sat back and tried using the remote. It is absolute minimal and unless you are happy to just skip forwards, backwards or up and down the volume it does nothing else. Anything other than that then it's off you chair and back to the scroll wheel or buttons and that is not acceptable for kit of this quality and cost. I have a far cheaper item in the house and the remote is fully functional so why Bose cannot produce the same leaves me at a loss. All in all I feel let down even although the sound feels worth the money. Of course if you are happy with one playlist then this won't bother you but, if like me, you want to change at will then don't buy this

OKAY... for the money this is the best Sounddock out there. What fantastic sound, I have it now for over 2 years and half way through some songs i have to pinch myself because I can't believe the sound such a small product makes, its also great having an audio-in to boost the sound of a laptop of even TV. Really Happy with this purchase

    Great Sound Poor Remote

With my old cheap docking station failing i was delighted to get the Bose 2 at Christmas. The sound is fantastic as many of my friends had told me. However the remote control is pretty useless other than volume control. The only interaction with my ipod library is by selecting different playlist, it then starts playing the playlist from track 1. My ipod has 4 playlists each with over 600 tracks so if my desired track was in the middle (say 300) i would have to press skip forward 299 times! There is no 'enter' or 'menu' select button. It is made more frustrating as my old cheap station had full control of the ipod. In our lazy age i am now getting fitter as i have to keep getting up to manually select tracks that i desire - Could do with losing a few pounds!!
The sound quality is worth the purchase but prepare for exercise!

    It's dead after 1 year!

I sadly have to announce the death of my Sounddock after a very short life of just over one year.
It happened suddenly on meeting my iPhone 4; a shock to us all, especially my wallet.
My advice is - don't buy one in the first place. It's better to have never had then to have had and now lost.(£250 that is)
Sorry Bose and Apple, but one year is not good enough!!

    Best for the price

I would like to start off with saying I spent a good Month testing and trying out lots of different iPod stations to finally come to this.

I had a cheap 4gear iPod station that simply was falling appart and although for its price did sound good it wasn't really up to making any more noise.

I went into the Apple store in High Wycombe and tried the B&W Zepplin and the bigger brother Bose of these, man the Bigger Bose whips the B&W with sound quality and volume but it also much more expensive. These sit nicely between the B&W Zepplin and the Zepplin Mini.

After getting a few friends together and testing them all we decided for the price of these Bose Sounddocks it was a win win situation, the sound quality is top notch, you can hear a full range of sound, Bass is punchy and there when needed and not artificially created like some of the chaper logitechs etc... The Highs are not massively great but are very detailed and you can trough Heavy Metal at it and would still sound clear and detailed, if not a tad toned down when at higher volume.

The best for me is the mids and sound quality of voice, if you play something such as DJ Sammy Heaven but the slow version with just the Voice, you could actually close your eyes and you would think she is singing in front of you. Please note you could that with any song, but that one is popular for people to relate to.

Overall deeply impressed as the controller works from decent distances and is compatible with my iPhone 3GS all the way down to my Bro's first iPod Touch. Also the station maybe plastic but it feels very thick and strong, I doubt its going to break anytime soon.

If your prepared to spend this sort of money on an iPod station you cannot go wrong with this station.

Great but a bit heavy on the bass

Great product and really happy with it and would recommend this product. The bass can over power the sound at high volume but still what a sound from such a small unit. Puts a lot of big sound systems to shame. Possibly slightly pricey now that other products are on the market.
