My mother wants to buy an apple gift card for me but I live in the Netherlands and she in the UK. Is it possible to buy gift cards which can be redeemed in another country from the one it is bought in?

Yes, you can load up multiple gift cards one after another in to iTunes and spend it all in one go if you want; for example, if you have a £25 card and a £15 card, you redeem both, and you have £40 iTunes credit to spend on anything; 57 x 69p apps or 1 thing for £39.99 for example.

Indeed you can. As long as you have redeemed you Gift-Card on iTunes or App Store, and it shows you account as being in balance at the bottom of the Featured page then any purchase you make that would be processed by iTunes will come off Gift-Card balance before charging you.

* iTunes Store (Music, Movies, TV)

Yes, the credit for your account works across iTunes for apps, books, music, films and so on, and also on the Mac App Store.
