How can I get it to work with new mac mini with out having to buy the usb key board as well?
I would like to buy a mac mini with a wirelees key board & mighty mouse but I have neither a usb keyboard or a usb mouse.

Apple Bluetooth keyboard---special function keys for iPad 3?
I have seen a good answer to a question about getting a list of function keys for the Apple Bluetooth keyboard---but it seems to address only using the keyboard with a Mac (laptop). Is there a list of special function keys that work with an iPad 3? I am particularly interested in which special function keys (if any) there are that work with an iPad 3 that one could not find on a non-Apple keyboard (such as a Motorola wireless keyboard, that works fine with entering text such as letters, numbers, and symbols). In other words what---in terms of function or navigation keys---makes the Apple Bluetooth keyboard better than other Bluetooth keyboards?

No, the wireless keyboard will connect with your iPad via bluetooth (ie: wirelessly) and will work exactly as you expect it to from there.

You can readily switch to Dvorak under the Language aned Text tab in Systems Preferences. Use the "Input Source" tab and then scroll to choose the Dvorak options you prefer. An icon will appear on the top margin of your screen to show what your current choice is.
However, you must deal with the fact that the letters on the actual keys in front of you are not in Dvorak. How to be error free, especially when learning the Dvorak system?
When I switched to Dvorak three years ago. i was leery of moving the actual keys to new positions in case they snapped off.
I bought a Dvorak silicone keyboard cover from zCover because it presents all the actual keys in their Dvorak positions.
When my wife wants to switch to QWERTY she only has to whip it off and switch the keyboard layout icon on the screen that I mentioned earlier in this answer.
So it should be an easy switch,assuming zCover is producing their products for the new wireless Apple keyboard. There may of course be other manufacturers but this is the one I originally found.
It's great that Apple enables all language users to communicate and does it so easily.

It was updated for Lion. The Exposé and dashboard keys have been swapped for Launchpad and Mission Control.

How to remap caps-lock and control keys on the wireless keyboard when used with the iPad?
I dislike the position of the control key and finds the caps-lock key mostly useless, so the first thing I do with any keyboard on the Mac is to swap the meaning of these keys in the
OSX keyboard prefererences' modifier keys panel.
Is there a way to do the same on the iPad?

There are two! One shows that the keyboard is powered up, and shows for approximately 5 seconds after switching on or awakening the computer from sleep mode.
The other is on the Caps lock key, and remains lit whilst the Caps lock is on.- Answered by Ken A

Funny, I asked this same question to the salesperson in the store when I was buying the wireless keyboard. She didn't know the answer & directed me towards "hiding" the virtual keyboard once it's on screen.
The right answer is YES! Once you turn on Bluetooth & "connect" your keyboard to your iPad (done in the Settings window), the virtual keyboard stays hidden.
