The "clear" key is used in the Calculator application for the "clear" function, just as it would be in a desktop calculator.
It may have another function in other programs.

Do Apple have a separate numeric keypad, wireless or USB
The new ultrathin wireless keyboard is fantastic to use, but it would be great if it had a numeric keypad at the end. I've bought a couple of so-called MAC osx compatible usb keypads but my iMac will not recognise them. It's frustrating to say the least

Best AnswerNo, Apple does not carry a stand alone number pad. Some third-party retailers carry them, but Apple doesn't guarantee that they work with their computers, which is why none of them are on their website.

Will this keyboard work with my iPhone?

Best AnswerAt this time you can not plug in any external keyboards to an iPhone.
Even if the ability to plug in a keyboard is included in future iPhone OS, this is a USB keyboard and the iPhone connector is not USB.- Answered by Rafael P

Can you get the keyboard in other language formats from the US Apple Store?
- Asked by Ryan O from Lexington
- 19-Oct-2009
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerHere in Europe the UK Apple store offers 14 different keyboard language options except the US one! (international keyboard is different to US)
I have a US style laptop so i'm not going to buy a keyboard that does not match my keys. UK Apple won't import a keyboard for me and US Apple won't sell to the UK.
Unfortunately your best bet is to find an online reseller in Europe that will ship to the US- Answered by Henry M from London

Best Answer
YES!
it wil work on anyUSB port or even an UNPOWERED Hub. keyboards and mice draw very little current so can be used anywhere - only external hard drives and iPods and other devices need the full 500MA of a direct connection and short lead as these draw the full current in use.
other devices fall somewhere in between- Answered by Michael N

Will this work with a 1" high keyboard wrist support?
I have a nice thick wrist/palm support right under my current mac keyboard (previous gen. - the white keyboard). It lifts up my wrist to where it's almost horizontal to where my fingers touch the keys, which is great. It helps keeps my hands more relaxed.
This super flat slim-line type model here is really hot. I want it badly. But it sits verryyy low, would this conflict my wrist support? Kind of feels like it'd add a down sloping angle on my hards towards the keyboard.
I tried to test is out at an electronics store with this keyboard with some of their wrist supports, but they wouldn't let me open the packaging for the supports, could never get an accurate feel.
What do you think?- Asked by David C from Lawrenceville

AnswerI don't think you'd want to do that. I have 3/4" support at work... when I switched to this keyboard, I had to get rid of the support because of the angle.

I touch-type at 70-80 words per minute. Has anyone who works this quickly found the flattened profile of the new keyboard difficult to adapt to?

Best AnswerI personally have been using this keyboard since its release. I used the very clunky previous version of Apple's keyboard, and I was VERY used to its format. This very thin model did take me about 1-2 weeks to get used to. Now that I have used this model for a few years, I CANNOT use any other keyboard. The thinness really improves your typing speed by quite a lot. (The keys press down 1mm instead of the clunky 6-7mm of the original) So little effort is required to type, you'll actually FLY across the keyboard! I would personally recommend a switch to this from any keyboard, PC or Mac.

Best AnswerYour best bet would be to search the web for the original part number (M9034LL/A), there are third party vendors who still have a stock of the older design.

AnswerNot without using a KVM switch. You need to switch it from one computer to the other.
Otherwise how would it know what Mac you are on at the time.

Do the function keys and special buttons also work on windows computers. And... is the USB port full powered 2.0?
I'm a windows user. I know I need to buy a Mac guys (already got the iPhone =D) But is this lovely looking keyboard also full functional for Windows? I mean, can you use all the function/special/numeric Keys?
Also I'd like to know if the USB ports on the sides of the keyboard are full powered. If I'd connect my iPhone, would it be charged?
Thanks!- Asked by Sjoerd V

Best AnswerThe keyboard USB ports ARE full powered DEPENDING on your mac. My Intel iMac gives full powered USB ports, but my wife's 12" G4 P-book only produces enough power to run a mouse and a some USB memory sticks.
This is sweet, you can plug a mouse into one side and keep the other one for easy access like USB memory, iPhone, card reader, etc... For even more ports, get a bluetooth mouse but keep the corded keyboard and you get 2 USB ports!
I believe that all the new intel Macs produce full powered USB ports, even the laptops, but you might want to double check on that.
As for the function buttons, they might work in Windows, but I haven't checked (my cheapie MS keyboard makes the F keys work, but not the multimedia keys -note: UNPLUG the keyboard before wiping it down!!).- Answered by Christian K from Cranbrook

Will the usb ports on this keyboard work with the Thunderbolt display?

AnswerYes it will. I currently use this wired keyboard along with a wireless trackpad and leave the keyboard connected to one of the USB ports on the back of the Thunderbolt Display. The two USB ports on the keyboard work fine for me when connecting my iPhone/iPad to sync.
