Long story short - is this 30" Apple Cinema Display compatible with current/future MacBookPros?

I currently have a pimped up MackBookPro that's about 18months old. I took this to the Apple Store to find out what connectors I would need to get to hook my laptop up to a display.....only to be told that I couldn't do this (you needed to have a mini-dv port, not the older DVI port).
The only display that will work is the older 30" display. Aside from the expense this is no big deal, but I need to know if THIS display is compatible with the newer MacBookPro's - I don't want to buy this monitor if it isn't compatible with future developments with Apple (eg iMacs, laptops etc)
