Answer
Yes, the app is compatible, keeping in mind that it is an iPhone app. It will run just fine on your iPad4 but does not have a proper iPad interface (yet?). If you use Instagram on your iPad4 you'll know what I mean, it's the same kind of thing.

How many amps does the Belkin WeMo switch handle?
- Asked by Terry O from Bellingham

Answer
OK, just after I submitted the question, I continued to sleuth for an answer. I viewed the image of the switch and there on the plate near the power prongs was the information on amperage or current draw.
So, the answer is 15 amps. Multiplying that number by the voltage provides the number of watts which the switch can handle.- Answered by Terry O from Bellingham

Answer
Nest available at Apple.com is awesome! I love it. It's high quality and easy to install with great web browser or app interfaces. Seriously saves you cash also. I bet you'll save the cost of the device in heating and cooling savings. No, I'm not a Nest salesperson :-).
The unit will also learn when you are there or not and adjust the heat/cooling. You can also lock it with a pin or just adjust the temp quickly, remotely.- Answered by David M K from Grand Ledge

Answer
You can be in Tokyo Japan as long as you have a connection to the internet either via the cellular data or WIFI hot spot.
The way the system works is via the internet.
First the WeMo connects to the belkin WeMo server and
then the Belkin WeMo service knows how to connect to the WeMo.
Then when you need to controll your WeMo your WeMo app on your device connects to the Belkin service and relays your commands to your WeMo.- Answered by Charlie B from Raleigh

Will this device turn on a computer?
I improperly phrased my last question as to whether this will turn on and off a computer. My only real question is will this WEMO turn ON a computer. I would not use this product to shut down a computer I just want to be able to turn it on remotely. Please let me know if anybody has had any success with this product turning on a PC.
Thanks- Asked by Ken F from Edison

Answer
You can normally change the settings on your computer so it turns on automatically after a power outage / never turns itself off. It may vary a little from PC to PC. If the computer locks up you could then use this device to disconnect / reconnect the mains to the PC, after which your PC will reboot on detecting mains again.

Answer
I ordered the Belkin WeMo Switch from the Apple Australia store, and it works fine in Australia.
Tested it out on a string of Christmas lights. Australian plug format, Australian voltage. The Apple Store is just a bit lazy with showing the US plug. In fact, so is the WeMo App for iPhone - it also shows the US plug in the default icon, but the app works fine.
Specs on the Australian box are - 240V / 10A / 50Hz / 2400W- Answered by George D from Warrimoo

Is this hardware compatible with X10 modules?
- Asked by Brian R from Lafayette
- 01-Oct-2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Best Answer
From reading the specifications of the X10 protocol, no.
The X10 uses power-line communications and simple RF whereas the WeMo uses Wi-Fi with probably a proprietary interface to the Belkin iOS app on iOS devices.- Answered by Howard L from Maroubra

Is the scheduling controlled by the app or the micro controller in the device it self.
I would like to use it to control aquarium lights. So if the scheduling is controlled by the app on my phone there could be a problem.

Best Answer
I have one of these, i think it's very good - pleasanty easy to setup and it just works - i had the same worry but it seems that the scheduling is downloaded to the device. Once programmed it seems to work fine even when the phone is off or disconnected from it.
