How do you hook up the bose companion 2 series ll to a mac ?

Best Answer
The one I bought included a cable which plugs into the headphone socket on an iMac and into the back of the speakers. (If you want to listen to headphones there's a headphone socket on the front of one of the speakers.) So it's all in the box already.

length of audio cables, speakers to Mac
- Asked by Pam R from Robina

Answer
The cable that came with mine is just under 1 metre. I was pretty unimpressed with the quality of the lead that they came with so would recommend replacing it. At least it comes with something so you can start playing music out of the box.

Would these speakers be good to plug into a MacBook Air and move around different rooms to listen to music on?
- Asked by Megan R from Calgary
- 29-Nov-2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that, but if you mean going into different rooms and trying to take the speakers with you that wouldn't work as they need to be plugged into a powerpoint, and don't take batteries. If you mean leaving them in one room whilst you go into another, sure that'll work. They sound great, even at their highest volume, so long as you are listening to decent quality audio.

Will it work with airport express
I want to play music wireless from my iPad to speakers connected to airport through airplay
- Asked by David B

Best Answer
I have the Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers connected to my Airport Express. The set up works great!! Just connects to/through your current wireless network. For less than $200- speakers + Airport express- you can have iTunes (or Pandora or any online radio/music app/website via Airfoil or the like) stream music wirelessly to any speakers connected to Airport.
I play music from my Mac, iPad, iPhone, and even older iPods (connected to the headphone jack..) all the time. It works great & these speakers put out pretty decent sound for the price & size. I highly recommend this setup, we LOVE it!- Answered by Leeann H from Tacoma

Can these be plugged into a airport extreme to be used with Airplay?

Answer
Yes, just like any speakers.
I have this set up at home and works great, for connecting Mac and iPhone. It also has another input at the back if you wanted to leave a cable there for a device that doesn't support AirPlay. On Mac I've only found iTunes to support AirPlay (many apps on iPhone) but there are a few Applications you can download to send all of your Macs audio to AirPlay Speakers, I use Porthole.- Answered by Sam C from Melbourne

I have 2 sets of these speakers, 1 hooked up to my MacBook Air and one set hooked up to a bluetooth receiver out on my veranda.
Is there anyway I can get both sets working at the same time, at the moment I have to either choose 1 or the other. Or will I have to hook both sets up to a bluetooth receiver ?

can i use these with the bose wave radio/cd player
- Asked by Chuck J

Answer
Not sure why you would do that, but yes, you can. The Bose Wave Radio (I have one) has excellent, room-filling sound of its own, so I don't see the point in attaching external speakers to it. But perhaps you want to use a long cable to a second room?
The Bose radio has "variable out" RCA jacks on the back, which means the external-speaker output is volume-controlled by the radio. These Companion 2 speakers have RCA inputs (as well as their own volume control), so a regular dual-RCA cable will connect them.
Important note if you want to do this: you can NOT listen to both the radio's speakers and these external speakers at the same time. Once you attach cables to the its output, the Bose Wave Radio's own speakers turn off. This is much the same as plugging headphones into an iPod or the Companion 2 speakers – this overrides the built-in speakers. So again, I don't see why you would want to do this – kind of defeats the purpose of having a Wave Radio.- Answered by Andrew R from Chapel Hill

Are these suitable to boost macbook pro audio in a classroom?
I'm looking for good speakers that don't cost a fortune to boost audio for use with training groups in a classroom setting (between 10-25 people), e.g. to show a video and to play music.
I intend to use them with my macbook pro and maybe iPad2 also. Has anyone used them for this purpose and if so how are they? Thanks- Asked by Russell M

Answer
That depends upon the size of the room but I recommend something a little bit larger for a classroom.

Can I also connect these speakers to a TV?
My TV only appears to have one pair of red and white output sockets but the speakers have two pairs for input?

Best Answer
Yes you can. The speaker system has 2 inputs, so use one RCA cable (red and white jacks, available separately to the speakers) from the back of your TV, to one of the 2 sets of inputs on the back.

bass
I listen to a lot of music with bass in it. Do these speakers produce a good bass sound?
- Asked by Sam H

Answer
I think they are pretty good for Bass, and have bought 2 sets for my kids. I use the Bose Music Monitor speakers myself which I think have better all-round reproduction (including Bass) but they are more than twice the price.
