Is it Like direct tv or cox cable, what channels can you receive , are there any monthly fees for tv channels

Best AnswerApple TV does not provide television programming in the way that a cable service does. All television shows on Apple TV are purchased individually in the same way that you would purchase music to play on your iPod, and the price can really add up if you watch a lot of TV.
However, Apple TV does allow you to watch programming through Hulu and Netflix. If these online streaming services would work well for you, Apple TV is definitely worth the investment. We love our Apple TV, it is a nice addition to our entertainment system- Answered by Robyn M from Raleigh

AnswerNope, it comes with a remote! iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch can also run it and can use AirPlay, which enhances the usefulness of Apple TV, but are not necessary. Lots of people use the Apple TV as a streaming device for Netflix, etc.

can apple tv handle 24-bit/192kHz hd audio without compression to 16-bit/48 kHz?
I want to liten to HD Audio from my computer to my stereo. Most wireless interphases compress the signal down to 16-bit/44-48kHz and this is not acceptable. I need at least 24-bit/96-192kHz. The audio out from the apple tv to my stereo should be able to handle up to 24-bit/96-192kHz.

Best AnswerWhen Steve Jobs introduced Apple TV, he said people don't want another computer. Apple TV is an independent device that connects to your iCloud and iTunes account wirelessly through the air, and uses these services independently. If you want to share photos and music directly from your computer than yes, but other than that your Apple TV is its own device.

Does Apple TV have an external digital tuner to watch OTA channels?
I have an older (2006) model HDTV. We want to get rid of cable and access OTA channels through an HD Antenna, but it seems our older model TV doesn't have a digital tuner. Does Apple have a digital tuner (like Boxee Box or Roku)?

Best AnswerNo it doesn't stream live TV. Though it's connected to your TV , you would still have to switch back-and-forth between your regular TV and the AppleTV on your remote.
