Is iMic enough if I use it for Skype?

I know that Macbook has an internal omni-microphone, but I would like to talk to an external microphone instead of bending my body forward and talking to the internal mic. As Macbook only as a line-in port, I would like to buy iMic as an external mic port.

So if I only use the iMic with an external microphone for Skype, can it provide me a clear voice for conversation (I have a decent microphone)? Will there be latency? Will the volume crash?
