Are internal HDDs compatible? I.e. a standard Western Digital or Seagate 3.5"

Would I be able to plug in a standard internal 3.5" or 2.5" hard drive into this? Or is it only for an already external Seagate hard drive?

    Yes it woks with 3.5".

However I have not tried a 2.5" drive with this - yet.

I have plugged in various 3.5" SATA bare drives onto this interface and they work fine. The connection seems to be a normal SATA one.

The drive once attached is not supported i.e it can rock about vertically, so I simply wedge something between the drive and the vertical side of the interface to prevent it becoming loose.

Apart from that, it seems to work very well. It's a great way to resurrect older SATA drives, although older drives will probably be the slowest part in the chain.
