Is this the charger that came with my iPad 3?

    No, this adapter comes with the 4th generation iPad. However, it works with the 3rd generation iPad and will charge just as fast as the adapter that came in the box. However, unlike others have noted, your device will NOT charge any faster than normal. Power is drawn, not pushed, so iPad draws as much power as it needs. The new iPad can draw more than the old one, but the old one still draws just as much as it always did.

  • Not exactly. It's the same size and shape, but it's 12 watt adaptor. The one that came with the iPad 3 is a 10 watt adaptor. The extra watts in this new adaptor should allow you to charge you iPad faster.
