will it read a compact Memoy card
I have a very good but not new Canon camera that uses a compact flash memory card. Will this adaptor take this memory card which is larger than some of the new sd cards.I have bought the ipad camera connection kit and the card slot is not sufficiently large.

Answer
No - CF cards are incompatible with this reader due to their greater size (as you have already found). All recent, non-professional level Canon SLRs (eg post 350D), use SD cards.
You could try a female to female USB adapter with a CF card reader to link with your lightning to USB lead as an alternative route though.
