I have an AirPort Extreme that keeps locking up and requires a hard reboot 5 to 10 times per day.
I called apple and they thought maybe it was interference causing the problem but if that was the case why would it be totally unresponsive its like it isn't even there. The wireless network is just gone! The light stays green and everything works normally once i pull the plug and wait for it to start back up.
They said I could send it in and wait a couple weeks to have them take a look at it but that is totally impractical i work from home a lot and cant have even one day of down time.
Are there any options for me to run some diagnostics myself?
I do notice that the problem happens more frequently when a particular computer is on the network it is a windows 7 machine using a rosewill usp wireless device.

hey there mate, i dunno if this will help but its worth a shot, when you can connect to the airport network, open airport utilities > File > Export Configuration File, once you have a configuration file reset your airport extreme to factory defaults, then set up the airport extreme with some temporary settings, then in airport utility select File > Import Configuration File, select your config file you made earlier and then click open, make sure all boxes are checked and then click ok and then update, hopefully this will help mate, still do the standard though of checking its not near interference etc but also if you have you airport extreme in auto channel select mode tell it to use channel 11 (Wireless > Wireless Options > 2.4Ghz Channel *Change from auto to 11*) and see if that helps
hope this helped mate :)- Answered by Jacob T from Nottingham
