Assuming you mean an iPod Touch not connected to anything else, then the answer is no. The remote controls iPod Touch and iPhone via the Universal Dock if they are in the cradle, the actual devices themselves do not have an IR receiver. So, connect your dock to the TV/HiFi, slot in your iPod/iPhone and you're away. As far as I can tell though, the new Universal dock ships with the old remote, I'd like to see this change very soon so that we can purchase the new remote alone or the new dock with the new remote, or even better, the dock on it's own. Over to you Apple?
