I have a four year old MacBook Pro. Will this display panel work with it? Or do I need an adapter?

Is it the Core 2 Duo 17 MacBook Pro if it is this model includes a built-in dual-DVI that's supports Apple's 30" Cinema no adapter needed check to see if your MacBook supports Dual DVi if it does Yes you can use the 30 inch Cinema HD on your 4 year old MacBook Pro.

  • I own a May 2005 12" PowerBook G4, a Feb. 2007 17" MacBook Pro and this 30" display. YES, you CAN hook up your PowerBook G4 to this display with a 'Mini-DVI to DVI' Adapter (included in box when I purchased the PowerBook G4)

However, you will not be able to operate the display at its highest resolution. I am only able to operate this display, while hooked up to my Powerbook G4, at 1280x800.

I am able to operate the display at 2560x1600 when hooked up to my MacBook Pro. Due to this I hardly ever use the PowerBook G4 with the display.

  • If you have a Macbook Pro with a full size DVI port then this will work without an adapter. If your Macbook Pro has a mini-DVI port then you will need a mini-DVI to DVI adapter. I think that all of the older Macbook Pros only had full size DVI ports but I can't be positive.
