I have both Office 2011 and iWork on my MacBook Air. An iWork Pages (the iWork word processor) file can be opened on a PC running Microsoft Office or any other open office type program as long as you export the iWork document as a Word document. This functionality is included in the iWork software and is quick to use. Honestly, iWork is excellent for basic word processing or flyers, but it doesn't come close to Office if you need to do serious spreadsheet work. My big issue is that a lot of formatting is lost when I transfer iWork spreadsheets to Excel files. This is not the case when I export Pages (iWork) files as Word documents.
Overall, I prefer Pages (iWork) for word processing and I prefer Office for spreadsheets.- Answered by Wade I from Charlotte

Totally agree with the analysis above. For presentations, I would opt towards Keynote for Macs as it has more effects and animations. Furthermore, the interfaces are fairly similar so if you come from PowerPoint, you can hit the ground running with Keynote.
