I'm going to university in September and I'm looking at the latest MBA 13 inch with 8gigs of ram or the new MBP retina.

The difference is about $500 as configured. I want be be a socials/drama teacher and I don't know how much power I'll need. Probably I'll need more processing power for the drama program, but I'm not too sure about that. I also just bought the latest entry level iMac a few months ago, but I'm upgrading the RAM to 12 gigs next week, that's why the MBA looks attractive right now. I just want to be able to maximize the use of the laptop. I'm also scared that there will be a new MBA with a retina displace and that's why I'm thinking of ponying up the extra $500 to future proof myself.

Any thoughts?
