    I bought this after my other external hard drive failed after only three months. I hasten to say it was not a G Drive.
    This drive was so easy to set up, just a case of plug and play. Mine does not get hot or is noisy, speedy transfer of data using Firewire 800 and a perfect mach for my Intel iMac.

    I have three of these drives and they have never let me down, in comparison to other drives ie Lacie/ Iomega .     Got it just today and I'm rather pleased with it.

    It does what it says and is clearly strong. It also matches my Mac which is rather good, but it makes my Mac feel rather soft; it's kind of rough.

    However, it's really noisy. Surprised by that as it apparently doesn't have a fan. On top of that, the blinking light resembles burning magnesium. These things degrade it a little. That's one of the reasons why I decided to write a review after only owning it about 3 hours. Because it really is noisy.

    I have had 2 of these discs fail on me in the last 6 months. One with photos from my wedding that have not been recovered. I have on the other hand been very happy with the way the Manchester Mac Store helped me. The staff where very helpful and sorted me out a couple of replacement Lacie d2's.
