Overview

You don't have to upgrade all your chargers just because you've upgraded a 2nd generation iPod touch, 4th generation iPod nano or iPhone 3G. The Griffin Charge Converter lets you charge them all with your existing chargers.

Simple and effective

Newer iPod and iPhone models use USB charging circuitry to charge their batteries. Older chargers provided power through the FireWire portion of the connector.

The Charge Converter clicks in between your iPod or iPhone's dock connector and your charger, and routes the charging circuits correctly for full charging functionality.

    I spent ages trying to find a new car kit that wasn't going to cost me a furtune to replace my denson ipod ice fm dock, this still works for audio but wouldn't charge my iphone 3G S.

    This peice of kit cost you £19 from the shop and means my old ipod dock works fine now and charges my iphone, it still comes up with warning but works fine.

    The only slight issue is that it seems to require me to plug the adapter into my phone first then the lead, but i think this is more to do with the dock rather than the adapter.     …More

    Useless with a docking station

    I bought this adaptor to use with my old iPod 3g dock and line out cable. The good news was that it did charge with the old firewire charger. However with the adaptor plugged in to the dock you can’t fit the line out cable! Likewise if you want to charge you iPod touch and listen to it at the same time there isn’t room to plug the head phones in! Why design it this wide? Therefore for me it was a waste of time and I returned it for a re-fund. If the adaptor was the same width as the standard connector plug it would have been fine. As an aside I had a general purpose USB changer that worked fine with pre iPod touch iPods but doesn’t work with the iPod touch. I thought the adaptor may allow this USB charger to work but it didn’t. As far as I can tell is only works with the firewire charger and cable. …More
