Overview
PowerJolt Reserve extends surf time, talk time and tune time with a detachable, rechargeable battery for iPhone and iPod. It plugs into your car's cigarette lighter or 12 VDC power outlet and quickly charges both the device and the Reserve battery pack.
Recharge anywhere
When you arrive at your destination, unclip the Reserve battery pack and take it with you (it's small enough to fit in your jeans pocket). Reserve's battery charges your iPhone or iPod through its Dock Connector, adding hours of additional use between charges.

Doesn't live upto the promised hype

Bought this a few months ago, this charger is designed to be left on charge in your car...after 3 months of owning it the removable battery will only give me an extra 28% on my iphone battery.
I hadn't used the phone whilst charging, and WIFI was off. In fact everything except the phone was turned off.
Now the website says "Removable backup battery provides hours of additional use for iPhone and iPod"....now I dont know in which world they live in but 28% on an iPhone will not get you hours of additional use!
My thought is that batteries do not like being left on charge constantly, it reduces the 'memory' and degrades them....This is designed to be left on charge.....somewhere there is a terrible design fault.
As a car charger on its own it is fine, but you pay the extra money for the removable battery.....which turns out to not do the job its supposed to, I thought I would get at least one full charge from it (or near enough a full charge). In fact I get just 28% out of it now.
To be fair Apple customer service were very good, and have refunded me for the charger, but it would have been nice to have received the product that had been promised. …More25 of 26 people found this useful

I bought this for my iPhone as I don't like cables everywhere, especially when I have my phone in its car cradle. The actual reserve part of the charger seems very good quality and sits on the car charger magnetically. It has five led's that indicate remaining power and charging status. It is small enough to put into your pocket and starts charging your iPhone/iPod straight away. All in all I would certainly recommend this! A must if your car charging socket is in an obscure position and you don't want cables all over your car. Having a USB socket on the car charger part is a very good idea too as you can charge other things such as Satnav at the same time!!! …More

On its own....yes... it can only be charged in the car....but there is a way round it ....you can by an adapter that converts the car charger to a 3 pin plug....then you can just plug it in in the house. …More
