    Don't waste your money

I love BOSE, I have a complete set of Bose surround sound speakers in my living room and they are fantastic. Unfortunately these headphones are rubbish. The silicon inserts fall off all the time, they don't isolate the background noise anywhere near as much as proper in-ear canal types, and they have to be driven at much higher volumes than others. To give an comparison, the Seinheiser 300s which I bought for almost half the price are twice as good. These are so poor, that if anyone wants to come and collect mine, they can have them as I will never use them again. Not sure what happened at the BOSE design centre, but whoever designed these needs to be moved on.

When looking at these headphones please don't get confused that they have sound isolating buds. The comfortable silicone changeable tips rest on the outside of the ear canal and the speaker rests on the inside -supported by the external part. This is unlike other in-ear headphones which have the entire headphone inside the canal. This also means that the Bose headphones are not made for isolating sound as outside noises will leak in to an extent but the sound from the headphones wont spill out. I hope this little description makes sense to people reading it.
As for the quality of sound when they are fitted correctly, I personally have not heard a better quality, balanced sound pair of in-ears ever before. Nothing I have heard comes close.
    100% Worth the money.

Absololutely worth the money.I bought these as an upgrade from the poor quality ones that came with my ipod nano and it unbelievable how good they are.The bass is amazing and the unique ear bud would fit in many ears and is very comfortable. A good price for Bose gear as all of there stuff is very high quality. A must buy for your ipod :) More

Had my Bose headphones one year now and have never had any problems.Being an electrician and working on building sites i would expect the silicon earbud to keep falling of but they never do also they always stay in my ear.The sound still sounds as good as the first time i tried them,i'm sure if your one of these train spotters on headphones you'll notice a difference. Finally if you have to travel on public transport these are the headphones for you as no one else will be able to hear what you are listerning to great at keeping the music in. The sound quality is very good but they died on me after 2 months, think it is because the way the jack is designed, not impressed. More

Fairly good sound but they keep breaking!

    The good:

For in-ear headphones as far as sound quality goes I'd say these are the best I've owned, and my last set of headphones were Shure SE530's which cost me over £250! The main reason for this is that they have really good bass compared to rival products. People argue that the reason Shure headphones have no bass is because they replicate studio sound - but this is not good for me or the average user who is not doing studio recordings but rather wants to hear the music as they would on their home stereo not studio speakers!!

I must stress that compared to bose on ear headphones in terms of sound quality these do not come close, but if you're like me you wont want to wear on ears out of the house, so these are the best alternative if you want small in-ears.

The other great thing in my opinion is that these ear phones do not fit fully in your ear canal. This is good for many reasons:

    1. They feel more comfortable than full in-ears
    2. They don't take time to insert in your ears (My Shure headphones had a separate microphone you could turn so that if someone started talking to you you wouldn't have to remove them from your ears - which goes to show how much of a pain they were to take in and out!)
    3. They stay cleaner - (My shures would get a bit waxy considering they were so deep into my ear).
    4. They stay in position and don't slide out of your ear canal which will happen when full in ear buds start to get even the slightest bit greasy from ear wax.
    5. They do not fully block out surrounding sound which means you will hear fire alarms going off, people calling to you etc.

There is also no sound leakage from these headphones so they are great at work, on the train etc.

    The bad:

The main bad thing I have to say is that the wiring at the headphone jack appears to be faulty which after a couple of months of heavy use causes the sound to cut out in the headphones! I'm currently on my third pair although all have been replaced with no arguments under warranty.

Finally the choice of different sized plastic buds that fit over the headphones do seem to wear out and fall off quite easily even on the latest model of these headphones, and with no spares this will be a pain if you lose them!

I absolutely love these headphones. They sit snuggly in your ears and they won't fall out while running. I often use them while rock climbing and they never fail out. One issue I have noticed is that if you sweat a lot and the sweat gets down into the ear area it can start to seep in around the seal. That starts to feel funny after a while.

All in all they are great and I think they are time tested and my mother approves.
